the MT-09’s inline tripple is the best in the business imo, absolutely loved the power delivery on mine. 0-60 in 2.9, almost impossible to keep the front wheel on the ground on launch. savage. fun machine and an amazing value

Hello. I am lucky to live near an Aprilia dealer ,and just got the quick shifter and first service done. My first service included the update, head bearing inspection wheel bering inspection, chain lube and adjust brake pad inspect and adjust, re torqued all safety fastners, coolant level check and fill battery test ,charging system check reset service light and more. I was going to do it myself until I heard all that needs to be done. It was almost $500. Love your channel. I am 707darren on youtube. My other bike is a R1250GS. Best wishes D

Ian you’ll love the new engine map. It is so much smoother & to me it felt as if it had 10 more hp. I’m in Indiana at 800 ft amsl. I’m sure you’re at a higher elevation. Also, when you changed your oil, did you happen to retorque the left & right side engine case covers (and I believe some bolts on the bottom of the engine). At 600 miles in, all of my bolts were not tight to 12Nm. It’s worth checking as I believe some of the oil & water pump leaks on the left side are due to a loose cover.

The way the grips are integrated into the bikes system makes it worth the price. It is nice to not have a switch that you have to figure out where to place. I remember going to GP Cycles while I was in the area and they were nice guys to deal with.

    • @defylifeadventure
      @defylifeadventure ปีที่แล้ว

I thought that on my 890. It soon became a pain having to go into the menu to turn the grips on after every stop. On a long ride that could easily 5-7 times with fuel stops and food or sightseeing. It really gets old fast. Something like the symtec heat demons you can just hook up to switched power and leave the switch turn on. That way they power up as soon as you turn the bike on. IMO it's a better system for long distance riding/touring.

When installing the heated hand grips the computer recognizes it on the dash and you don't need the dealer for installing them, you just need to be careful with running the wires up in behind the display because things can get a little tedious and time consuming to keep from pinching wires and breaking some of the faring and the neck going under the display when the bolts don't come lose without breaking something. So Ian believe me from experience you did the right thing by letting the dealer install them.

Nice video and fun to see all the eye candy bikes you were looking at. I had a Ducati Panigale V4s and it was fantastic but really just too fast. Traded it in on a Ducati Hypermotard 950 SP. Another incredible bike. Amazed I got through those two bikes with no tickets:) It I was looking for a sport bike now I would really be interested in a Ducati V2 bike, because back in the day I had a Honda RC51 and that was the most fun sport bike I ever had. The V2 engine configuration is great. The more I see you review the Tuareg 660 the happier I am that I got a KTM 890r Adventure, just because for off road the 890r just seems designed better and more durable. Not to trash the Tuareg though. It is a nice bike and if I had one I would still be pretty happy no doubt. Looking forward to your future reviews of the 660 just out of curiosity. Also noticed a Specialized Levo in your garage. I have a Gen3 and just love the bike. So much fun! You going to do a review on that?

The standard fit battery on the 660 Tuareg is a Lithium Iron Phosphate LiFePo4 battery which has a chemistry that is thermally and puncture impact very safe compared to a Lithium Phosphate which has been proven to be thermally unstable and will catch fire when the the cells are damaged by punture impact.

In your budget I would theoretically get the Tuono 660. Even if it has the "same" engine. That could even be an interesting aspect: comparing how much difference the two different engine set-ups really make.
If you absolutely need a different engine type, think about stretching your budget and get a standard (non-factory) Tuono V4.. should be around 17k USD and that engine is just a Revelation.
Or stay inside the budget an choose either a MT09 or a Kawasaki Z900.
The Kawa is not really a racer but has an amazing price/performance ratio and should still be a lot of fun on the track for a beginner.

I would like to humbly issue a correction. Bringing the bike to the dealer does not raise the RPM limit that is a simple setting that you can do on your own. I performed my first service on mine and didn't bring my motorcycle into the dealership until about 3,500 miles to have the quick shifter installed. Aprilia customer care, North American warhorse RSBK, and Blackman's cycle center, and finally my own experience all confirms that the service light doesn't do anything except remind you of service. It doesn't limit anything. Now there isn't updated fuel map this is true. I was the first Tuareg to receive the update at North American warhorse.

I realize I'm a year late, but can you reset the maintenance light without the dealer doing it? Is there a hack that is possible? One of the many reasons for selling my Desert-X was the aggravation of being forced to take it to the dealer for every little thing.

@@brucerossonthetube no hack to reset the light as I know of yet. It doesn't affect the motorcycle and I forget that it's even there. I got it reset around 2,300 mi And it came back on around 6,400 or whatever the hell 6,200 And I'm at 11600 now. I don't really care. It does not affect the performance so oh well

I think you are really fast AND drank a lot of coffee! I’m stuck between the Guzzi 850 and the A660, if I had your off-road to ride I would go with the 660, but I’m 90% or better street, what to do? I’ve had 6 BMWs so fond of driveshaft, but I think the 660 is around 50 lbs lighter so better for my camping trips. I think I’d be happy with either but mostly cruising the beach so maybe Guzzi better plus I’m sure 2 up better on Guzzi

Ha, definately will let the dealer install the grips. How about a Ducati Monster SP or a the Ducati Supersport for the track bike?

When you get into summer, will you do the exhaust wrap at the cat to stop hot foot?
That is the one thing I have heard folks complain about.
Wish I knew you were in town..

Great bike for city riding and again our cities here in the US are huge in comparison to the European counterparts. I’d buy one in a heart beat but living in AZ fuel range is a MUST !

I just did the first service on my Tuareg. Love the bike. The the glossy black plastic dipstick is about the only issue I have with it. Someone needs to make an aftermarket replacement. I see you haul your bike in the bed of your truck. What's your preferred technique for securing the front end?

Hi Ian. Being watching your channel for the last 3 month. I’m getting back to riding after a long hiatus but I can’t find anything in the local Dealers here in Nevada. What do you use to pickup your used bikes. I actually waiting for the GS1300 but I want to ride something decent ASAP. Thanks.

Would love to hear how much they new skid plate and crash bars weigh? Are you keeping a total weight figure as you mod your bike? Also noticed you had your bike in the bed of your truck. Could you make a quick vid of loading either the Tuareg or better yet, the GS into the truck? I think that's something a lot of viewers would be intimidated by because how heavy these Adv bikes are.
