I've been through a phase of being really into pharmacology a few years back, and all I have to say is that you explain things very well and it's valuable information. One of best channels on psychiatry for sure
I feel like you can't just adamantly define what anxiety is to its exact specific details. It at least probably varies in some way for everyone. For example, the situations of everyone from the documentary slightly or greatly varies (and they didn't really go into details), and my situation is hugely different from theirs. However, most of the symptoms for anxiety described feel the same, and although the film itself was mostly about Xanax and not really their experience with anxiety, and also the fact that I've never taken Xanax before, I still felt like I could somewhat relate to the things that they were saying. At the end when they discussed alternative ways to manage anxiety I kinda started bawling my eyes out, lol... I think it was the feeling of being understood or the fact that they tell you some of the things you frequently see online, like the fundamental tips like breathing and exercise, and the advice other people has given you. It gives you a sense of reassurance and the reminder that you're not alone in this, despite the different situations you face but the mostly common struggle you go through. To anyone who experiences anxiety, I hope you manage to live life with minor interference of your symptoms, and is able to control them effectively. You got this! :)
I will check out the Netflix documentary Take Your Pills 💊. It will be tremendously helpful to me and I will also check out some books 📚 at the library 📚.
Hi 👍 I have a question: I've read that in OCD patients benzos should not be prescribed (in addition to an SSRI) because it worsens obsessions and compulsions, and it doesn't let CBT to be effective. Is this true? Has it been proved? And if that's the case, what can you do if an OCD patient has insomnia symptoms? Thank you
Hello. I've been taking 10mg of Zolpidem for sleep for about 6 years and I want to stop taking it. Do I have to taper it like a Benzo? I reduced the 10mg tablet by sanding off 10% of it for a week and I felt dizzy, weird and anxious. Could that really be the small decrease in the dose causing those feelings or is it me just being oversensitive and my mind just making it all up? Is Zolpidem the same as a Benzo or is this all in my mind and I can just got from 10mg to 5mg for a few weeks and then stop without any withdrawals? Thank you
Definitely taper buddy. I've been on zopiclone for a similar amount of time and the withdrawal is pretty tough. I'm not a doctor but maybe try dropping to 7.5mg for 2 weeks then down to 5mg for 2 weeks and so on. But if you need to go slower then do so. You can order a pill cutter on ebay or amazon. Good luck 👍
@@ericdraven155 Thanks for reply. So have you gotten off your zopiclone and if so was your taper similar to what you suggested I do? How long does the withdrawal last?
Why don't you list the serious side effects of ssris and SNRIs? Or their withdrawals? What's the "game" behind the overprescription of antidepressants?
There is no game and I personally do not over prescribe antidepressants. We try to provide a balanced view on what medication can and cannot do on this channel
Accept a certain amount of pain? I am guessing that you personally have not experienced the severity panic attacks and generalized anxiety that people like me have endured. Born in 1960, by the age of 13 I was experiencing disabling levels of anxiety, as my mother and her mother also had in their early history. It was at this age that I was first prescribed Valium, 5 mg per day twice a day. I resisted the medication because it made me feel dull and depressed but benzodiazepines in large doses became part and parcel of my medical care for decades to come. Eventually, of course, patientslikeme were demonized and accused of drug seeking when actually we were just doing what we had been taught for decades. When you combine the experience of that wrong benzodiazepine use and then expect patients to go completely without them set us up for blame and shame which further complicates our problems. I find all such discussions that always seem to include an admonishment to face life's pain absolutely insulting and incompetent. I wish you would have the courage to address this post. I have subscribed to your channel and there are literally God knows how many hundreds of thousands of people, most of them women, suffering to this day as I do. All this is quackery, including your blame of the victims. You remind me of the types that in Verde would simply have given lobotomies to female patients who were in their words, hysterical in the name of non-addictive patient management. Please courageously respond. By the way, I am not a current benzodiazepine patient nor user but the craving for these drugs has never gone away at the age of 62. They never will. And please don't tell me to get religion, even if that religion is psychopharmacological psychiatry.

Not much has made a dent in my anxiety yet my Doc. will still not prescribe any Benzo or dose. I have no issues with addiction, and I’m pissed I don’t get the opportunity. My nervous intensity , GAD, has been the norm since childhood. Why oh Why? (Yes I’ve tried literally anything)
It’s a case by case basis and also a comfort level of the doctor. My personal experience has been benzodiazepines improve physical symptoms of anxiety but often people still experience anxious thoughts. Getting to the root of the anxiety and possibly exploring other diagnosis that may be driving anxiety is a good idea. It’s not that benzodiazepines are not useful they are just in the short term. I have whole series on anxiety I recently posted here on TH-cam check it out. Hope this helps
If you think you need benzos and are trying to get prescribed it you definitely do not need it. Your doctor is doing you a favor not getting you addicted to a drug that you actively trying to get.
Underrated Channel. 👍👍

Dr Rossi what’s your views on restoril vs ambien cr? Restoril keeps me asleep all night but ambien Dr is a little faster and doesn’t last as long.

It's hard, I know. But you need to remain detached when watching such videos. It isn't about you, but about the population in general.

Have you seen forums about antipsychotics that now are prescribed off label for insomnia and anxiety? Their side effects are detrimental
@@Elektra_7thank you !! Benzodiazepines have side effects but the knee jerk reaction of prescribing antipsychotics will destroy many more lives.
