Totally Off Topic, but A Subject that I am trying to get my head around, which doesn't apply to just Laminated Boat Construction in the Tropics. How to delay the natural Deterioration and breakdown of Resins like Polyester and Gel Coats by maximising UV protection via Waxing and polishing, as Carnauba Wax visibly alters to yellowing from UV exposure. The maximum Laminated Hull life for Polyester Resin Reinforced hulls with no exposure to UV Light is 90 Years, and totally exposed depending on thickness, can be as low as 12 months, before it disappears by breaking down into Esters and Water - Hence the root of the problem that we call Osmosis - which doesn't get halted by Barrier coating, or having a final layer of Vinylester the underlying Chemical Clock is Ticking away still. So which Polishes provide say 12 months JV protection , and is anything that actually Eorks affordable ? As I need to be 5 years or so on a boat in the Tropics, obviously I want to give it the Best Surface protection that I can. As a side note, my heavily built 1978 Endeavour 32 was still a massively Strong Hull in 2016, and had been well Barrier Coated below the Waterline both internally and externally in a pretty major refit just prior to my becoming the owner, so by delaying and slowing down Deterioration, panic can be avoided, so Great UV protecting Polish ? Well thanks to UV exposure, plastics on the Surface were pretty much gone in side 12 months, and they broke down to Esters and Water. then it was soon found that underground plastics, protected from UV exposure looked to have a maximum service life of 80 years, before they broke down into Esters and Water as well - which is bad news for layers of GRP below the Surface, no matter how well they are Sandsiched between other materials. Basically, the thinner the Hull, the faster they lose Structural integrity, and for buying a boat ? get the newest Hull you can afford. Obviously Metal Hulls can have similar life shortening issues, and it's a stretch to think in terms of any boat lasting over 100 years in a Marine Environment anyway. It's hard not to conclude that the mi ro plastics nonsense, is anything other than deliberate Scaremongering by the way, and chucking waste plastic into landfill is a terrible waste of what is really a vert precious Feedstock for Plasma Gasification with Syngas waste to Energy production of Ultra Clean Liquid and Gas Fuels - Renewable that actually deliver, and like Oil and Gas - which have long been confirmed Not To Be Fossil Fuels and will always be produced by the Planet and will Never Run Out, though we may occasionally over extract in some areas, but the Fiellds soon fill back up, just like all the Texas Oil Fields pumped Dry between 1911 and 1939 when they were capped, when resurveyed about 12 years back, all of them were found to have filled up again. Synthetics though should cost fractions of a pence per gallon to produce, and all the Tech needed, is available off the Shelf. No Wind or Solar ever recovers the zenergy used in making, shipping, delivering and installing them, which is rather Sobering to ponder on. But back to UV, what is the best Polish to resist UV Damage with ? Best Wishes. Bob. 🤔🌟🌟🌟👍❤️
Confession - I have had a total Brain Fart moment, and haven't got a bloody clue where a Moody DS 43 came from, because they don't even ,are one 😄and I'm pretty sure that I didn't mean the DS 45 either. Blissed Out on Lidl Sjpdrb Donuts perhaps? !aye. So apologies for the Confusion, especially as I'm not going to be buying one, as it now looks as though I'll be settling for a mew Dufour 44, and taking it to the USA to an e cellent Boatyard there tohave a Custom Lead Wing Keel fitted for a 4 foot 6 inch Draft. My favourite Sailboat remains the Island Packet IP 439, but as of now, it will be beyond my reach. Ho Hum, and Best Wishes to All. Bob🤔🌟🌟🌟👍❤️.
Ha it's not just me then that has the old brain fart moments,🤭😂 and to think I hope all my comments are ok as I finish this bottle of wine.😛😊😉🙃
@@SVTONICBoatWives I do like nice Wines, particularly fond of Galician Green Wine, but very few bottles get exported each year, as the buggers drink almost all of it themselves 😄 still nice Ciders, beers and Spirits help to plug the gaps. If in the USA, one to look out for is 8.5% Kentucky Ale, which is matured in Bourbon Barrels. The best Sipping Ale I have ever tasted. The very worst beer I have ever tasted, was bottled Italian Peroni Beer in Italy in 1969, and itnis only slightly improved today. yuk ! Gallo and Napa Valley Wines in general in the USA are pretty decent, as are Wines from Chile, Argentina, South Africa, and New Zealand - a cousin had a Farm close to the Marlborough Winery, and their Wines are very nice - but all Wines, Beers, Cider, and Spirits today suffer from the same problem - All of them Are Chronically Overpriced, as are Tobacco Products, and High Prices are based on Blatant Lies about All of them, as an excuse to increase Taxes. 😡 It's Very Annoying. Bob.
@@brownnoise357I think that in a country with a winemaking history like Italy, beer production and consumption should be considered serious crimes.
@@ArazQizilbash Well, getting it Wrong definitely should be. 😄🌟🌟🌟👍
PS. My Special Therapy Massaging Fish Ndt Stovkings turned up and in anticipation were the butt of all my piss taking jokes with the Nurses, backfired when it turned out that they weren't Fish Net Stockings At All but are a heavily elasticated Solid Black ! I'm zGutted I tell You absolutely Gutted. 😄😄😄👍❤️
Strong meds and nice nurses are what dreams are made off.
@@SVTONICBoatWives All redit to them, they are a great bunch of people, plus after a very long chat with a very nice Cardiology Support lady, when I to
d her I'd be looking for crew for my next Sailboat, to get me to the Caribbean and explained fully why, she even expressed an interest in volunteering to be a part of the Crew , Though I'm not a fan of strong Meds tbh, or of strong Drugs either, after being on the receiving end of attractive ladies dropping things li,e LSD and amphetamins into my drinks - - a very common problem in the 1970's tbh, and a precursor to the whole Date Srug thing, and we had enough problems with the whole female Pheromone thing as well plus frankly, the Male Phsromone assault on the senses was a thing as well, as I was shocked to discover with the First Faberge Brut Afyetshave I bought on a holiday down in the Gowere, and the Campsite was hit by su h a violent Storm, I lost even my Washbag, as every Tent on the sire went down, and following morning a .ot of us went to Swansea to drop off a lad to have a fishing Treble hook removed from his foot, and we went shopping, and there was a launch speciL of Faberge Brut in Boots Chemists. Oh boy, what a horrible Shock when We used it, as all the guys wanted to try it, because it was new, and Faberge. The effect on Females was just as bad as the female Pheromone Perfumes on us Males, and I'll leave it at that. He k I don't even li,e getting Drunk, but love drinking good drinks I think my addictions have been restricted to Motorbikes and Cruising Sailboats frankly, oh and nice natured good women I suppose. Best EWshes. Bob who has been Pheromone Bombed by a few aggressive women along the way, and had a very narrow escape from almost Marrying one
, which had me bowing not to get married before the age of 78 and now it's getting bloody close, I think I was too hasty and need to revise it upwards lol Love nice Women Though ❤️🌟🌟👍
What size of tender can fit there?
Good question and I wish my answer was just as good but a Williams 3M would get in there, I think?
@@SVTONICBoatWives Thanks that gives us a relation and a better idea. Thanks a lot
It is designed around the AER Marine 270 with 6hp fully inflated
As a traditional sailor, I feel like I should dislike it. But I don't, maybe not for the South Atlantic, but who goes there anyway? Europe or across the pond with the trades for an extended cruise, yes, please? A straight swap for a Contessa26?
I like you like a dedicated nav station, and I am glad this DS has you wondering if you like it or not. It's a funny boat the more I get to know the new bread of Moody DS the more I like them, wouldn't it be nice if Contessa did a Deck salon?
Such a wonderful boat for long, safe travel..
Have you stuck someone's 'bath time' in the sound edit ? Looks a bit slack for all that sloshing ! 🇬🇧
Yes, it was me and my rubber ducky, lots of mistakes in this video I know but it happens from time to time.
@@SVTONICBoatWives Haha, we all make em ! At least you fessed up 😄
Nice tour. Could have done without the Tattoos.
Just curious. How come companies like this can obtain financial backing when a family cannot afford the rent? Wake up people, do we care for society. CLimate change, poverty are not my problem because I am entitled.
Are you a citizen of India or Bangladesh?
the design is a mix of great ideas and stupid ones. Overall a bit weird. I am not convinced of the visibility on the helm, at all. for 1.2m I would spend this on a Amel 50 without thinking twice.
Having sailed this boat for about 250 miles now I can safely say that the visibility is no issue whatsoever.
