I have watched so many of your videos this week. I have had a drinking problem for a while, I tried and failed so many times to quit. I finally broke down and told my boss about it. She has been amazing with me. I was embarrassed and ashamed but I needed someone to know. Since then I have found so much comfort and help in your videos. I'm ready. 😮

Welcome to the group. I hope your journey brings you happiness.
31 days today (the longest in 20 years). My life has already significantly improved. The disappointment in myself that would come with going back would be unbearable; it's my motivation. I've never been happier or healthier! This community is amazing!
31 days is HUGE!! You deserve a pay on the back and a long look in the mirror knowing you're BACK on your own team...AGAIN!
Keep the positive momentum going. Onward and upwards to new achievements.

Alcohol as a way to unwind? Best friend? Shoulder to cry on? Therapy? Crutch? Way to deal with anxiety? Check, all of the above. Glad that relationship ended more than eight months ago. Thank you, as always, for your work!
The irony is that it is the root cause of so many of the issues that we use it to relieve...
@@jamescolbert1 Ever heard that famous line from Homer Simpson [ character in the tv show The Simpsons ].
" Ah...alcohol... the solution to and the source of all life's problems".
I couldn't have written it better myself 😉

I wholeheartedly agree.
I never thought I'd be able to get sober, but here I am, sober since November. I was a really heavy drinker, just getting obliterated night after night. I'm grateful to have stumbled upon this channel when I first wanted to get sober. I'm so much happier now, never believed I could be until getting off the booze. To anyone still struggling, you CAN do this, it's just going to be hard at first but it gets easier and it will get better ❤

November 12 for me! Yay you!

Day 46 clean of alcohol since coming out of self admitted medical detox.
I was completely lost and drinking anything from 16 to 20 units of beer every night and my liver has been slammed for it.
The simple thought of the fridge getting low would cause anxiety and made me an ugly person.
Long way to go still in my recovery, but I don't want to ever look back.
Thank you for these videos. They truly help.
DAY 46 LETS GOOOOOOO!!!!
Congrats on your sober streak Keep up the good work.
Alcohol pretended to be my friend for 25 years. It lured me in with false promises.
In reality it was my master. I was being dragged on a leash towards my next drink.
The only thing that alcohol brought into my life was immense suffering.
I am so grateful God released me from the obsession to drink.
As of today I am 4 years 8 months and 25 days sober. 🥳
Great video Jae ♐️

A unique moment for me and I m throwing all the effort into another 6 months.
Its been tough, no doubt about it, I have almost given in a few times but found that little voice that told me to keep going and the occasional Jae... video aswell 😊
I like the little voice and the occasional Jae 🤣
Congrats on your long sober streak.
Congratulations brother!
123 days sober and I usually don't even think about drinking. BUT, when I see videos like this, trashing alcohol, I suddenly get an urge to DEFEND it!!! "WHAT ABOUT THAT BOOZEY, COZY, PEACEFUL FEEEEEEELING?!?!?!?!" LOL. it's weird for sure. But one thing I DEFINITELY can say is that I constantly felt mad, or guilty, or ashamed, or depressed about myself when I was drinking, asking "Why aren't i strong enough to CONTROL my drinking?" and "How much damage is this doing to me?" "Why aren't I stronger???" My self esteem and my sense of power have definitely increased and these feelings have positively impacted my health, my house, my job, my insights about my problems., and THAT is freaking priceless. I have HOPE now. I LOVE having hope.
☝️If this isn't a great comment, I don't know what is
Great points Jae! Day 489 sober today and day 95 nicotine-free.
Symptoms of PAW (post acute withdrawal) are WAY better! At first, everything and everyone pissed me off! Emotional state continues to improve. Able to turnover more and more to God instead of beating myself up over every little thing.
Glad to be on the journey to the best version of me I can be. Thanks for all your encouraging videos Jae. 😀
Isn't it nice to be on this side, not being a victim, not making sobriety out to be the problem for not feeling good?
Congrats on your long sober streak. Keep striving to improve yourself
Totally nice! Going to keep surrendering every part of my life every morning and see what cool stuff God has in store for me: Growth, sobriety and one of my favorites: Help some and harm none.
Thank you! I had a beer problem! Self medicating. Been off beer sober for 3 weeks. First 2 weeks were hard. Ached all over. Craved beer in the evening. This 3rd week no body aches better outlook. It was me! No one else but me! Developed an arrhythmia. Thypical of a long time drinker. Beer is as bad as hard liquor!

After a really terrible incident Sunday night, I'm ending the relationship. This video hit hard. I'm just ending a divorce, been leaning on alcohol WAY TOO HARD. The relationship with my ex was toxic. I felt terrible in it for 4 years. The relationship with alcohol was as toxic. Your videos are very reassuring to me.
Same here...my girlfriend was fine with me as long as I was a drinker but now that I'm sober the relationship has bottomed out...I see her with fresh eyes and I know in my heart that it's over...we hardly compatible anymore.
The irony is that i was in a toxic relationship with alcohol and my ex and not aware of both. Both are over now and i have never been in a better place in my life 😊 I'm so grateful ❤
This video was a wake up call for me, I did 5 months sober not long ago but had my first slip up in February this year, that 5 months was easily the best 5 months of my life, after my first slip up I fell back into doing it every weekend and I’ve become that anxious unconfident version of myself I was before I went sober, I’m 3 weeks sober now and I can’t wait to get back to that point only this time I’m never going back. I learnt so many lessons about myself during that 5 months, I was mentally bulletproof, beaming with positive energy inspiring those around me, shocked at the new version that I’d become. I’ve slipped back into my old ways but I know what it feels like to be 5 months sober, and that feeling is the best feeling I’ve ever known, time to get my life back, my happiness back, and get rid of this crippling anxiety and unstable emotions❤
I was sober 5 days and went back to drinking wine. there are tons of excuses but none good enough!
you're gonna be hard pressed to find anyone in this community that didn't go back to drinking a million times.
The secret is: Keep trying
The restart is more important than the stumble. Keep striving to improve yourself.

Best part about being Sober is not feeling like Crap for 2 days after a night of Partying & not giving any more of my Money to Alcohol Companies. This thought I had really helped me get over substance abuse: We use inappropriate management tools like alcohol when we haven't learned appropriate ways of managing pain.
🎯🎯🎯
I agree with you totally
On day 129 with one hiccup (*). Two weeks ago I went to an out of state wedding and had a couple at the reception. The next day feeling shards of guilt and disappointment, I watched the relapse video and processed. It really was like a brief encounter with a toxic ex, and while you think if things might be different, eventually the baggage overcomes the nostalgia. Even at the time I wondered if I really wanted this, which is probably why I had a couple and not six times a couple, as I would've in the past. Strangely, it reinforced not wanting to drink, though I'm glad I don't have anymore weddings on the horizon.
Im scared of alcohol and the way i was before. I was engaging in stalking, almost psychopathic behavior. Thinking about making a trip back to the UK, and i was last drinking there, so want to remind myself how far ive come in 7 months. Life is generally much better.
This was amazing! So true and great correlation between toxic relationships and the toxic relationship with alcohol!
I especially proud of this video. I might have to mic drop and call it quits. 🤔
I walked away 8 days ago, I intend to keep walking. Thanks Jae.

76 days today.....hasn't been easy....but man I needed this video this morning.....feeling the Friday pull already....
🎵another craving bites the dust🎵
I'm in a toxic relationship with an alcoholic in denial. She often says I'm the addict and she's not when I'm sober and she's drunk. I'm not completely sober but not alcohol dependent currently. She covers all of those points that you covered big time. Unfortunately I can't kick her out as I'm not in the business of putting vulnerable females on the street. She often threatens suicide when I try to hint at making an effort to move on... The bumber is I've never been so motivated to give up this poison.
That's about as toxic as it gets!

The best channel about quitting alcohol on TH-cam!
🥇I humbly accept 🙏 How ya been????
Four days in after a three week off and on bender. I’m 23 so I’ve only been drinking for the last not even two years, and I’ve had my fun in those times but just seeing how bad it can get hit me. I never went particularly overboard (my worst was like 12 drinks/shots a night over a two day weekend) and perhaps some day I will come back to the elixir but for the foreseeable future it was just better to quit while I was ahead and give myself a good break. The first night was pretty bad and restless, but now much of the anxiety has gone away already; just feels strange to be so energetic lol. Your videos have been a great help, and for that I thank you.
Your channel is educational and informative!

🗣️📢YOU ARE AWESOME!!!
Ive been a binge drinker on and off for about 7 years now, never really drank everyday but there were many weeks when that was the case and when i do drink the moment that first drop passes my lips it feels like im incapable of stopping. Early on it did feel like it helped ease some of the anxiety and pressure in my daily life but the last year or so more and more often its become clear that it only makes it worse. Ive quit what feels like a million times and i even spent a full year sober in 2020 but ive been struggling ever since i started again. I recently moved away from a toxic living situation and im better off financially as well. And I think im finally in the right head space to quit for good now. 3 days sober (again) currently and so far so good, im fighting some cravings and my sleep has been rough the last few nights, but i know it will get easier with time.

Dude, I love your videos. I was 3 weeks sober but started binge drinking beer again since all my friends and family started drinking to celebrate this useless Finnish holiday called Vappu. The peer pressure was nasty, and even though I know my family loves me, I don't think they really understand the conviction I'm trying to make. But I'll start again, the hangover won't be so bad this time probably.
It is a good idea to celebrate the end of winter and the beginning of spring. However, a person can celebrate without alcohol.
Hindus in India do it all the time.
Thank goodness for Google It told me quickly what Vappu is about
Stay persistent! the only way to lose is to give up!

What do you have planned for the weekend to occupy your mind and body instead of drinking? (Napping counts lol)
@@GettingSoberAgain I cleaned my room. Washed my car, did some shopping. Back in my room early to bed. On day 5.

Today makes 999 days of continuous sobriety, were getting somewhere
Yoooooooo WHERE YA BEEEEEEEN?????
@@GettingSoberAgain I need to catch a live stream soon, just been busy moving into a new apartment and trying to get everything together to finally get my license back after 6 years. That will be a huge milestone in my journey of leaving my old bad habits in the past. I hope all is well and I'll catch up with you guys soon!
Good stuff! 15 days and feeling so much better. Steady drinker every night for 19 years. The first week was savage! Love the analogy of the ex. I’ll use that when someone offers me a drink. Looking forward to checking milestones. TY
15 days is GREAT progress!
Love your input. Fun fact: when I was in a relationship that wasn't right for me at all I hadn't been drinking except some rare occasions and those were my early twenties. Started drinking regularly around 28 drawn into tasting craft beers and it had grown into addiction pretty quickly, probably reaching its highs when I was 31-33. The middle of May marks seven months without alcohol, my goal is to make it to one year and summer may be tough in this regard. I can only tell that it doesn't improve my social skills at all.

Yeaaahhhh.... im going too stay single
I dig it
Im ready to break up with alcohol. Thank you for this video. Im 37 and have been drinking hard for 20 years. Ive never looked at it as a toxic relationship before but wow what a change of perspective can do! Its been very painful to admit im addicted to alcohol and its been a very toxic way of surviving trauma and fear but its necessary! Everything i want and need is on the other side of sobriety! Im so glad i found this channel. Ive tried numerous times to stop drinking but i dont think i was ever fully invested...or i would just run back to familiarity to numb myself for the 1000th time. Im ready to commit to myself and give myself some love and grace. I just pray this time i can succeed and be proud of myself instead of despair. ❤
The best way to succeed at sobriety is to work intensely on changing on your mindset and your habits.
Half hearted trying does not work.

I'm having trouble from drinking too much on the weekend. I'm around another drinker all weekend. I've pretty much so conquered not drinking during the week finally.
All steps I. the right direction ✅
Why are you doomed to spend all the weekend with drinkers?
You change the peer pressure when you change your peers.
