      My story: I was a binge drinker for 50 years. How did I stop drinking so easily? I skipped the counseling and anonymous platitudes. I went to my doctor. He gave me a choice of two remedies. The monthly injection of Vivitrol or the daily 50mg tablet of naltrexone. I took the tablets for 30 days to detox and almost immediately lost the cravings for beer. Losing the cravings was as easy and taking Motrin for muscle aches. Mark me safe from alcohol.

    It will happen... I'm 12 days sober today. I'm already starting to see the benefits, my blood pressure has come down to normal levels, the withdrawal symptoms (which was hell initially) are slowly fading, and my sleep is improving (but not perfect). Once again, I wanted to thank you Jae for making another inspirational banger.
    On another note, I'm not sure if you've already made a video on this topic. But I wanted to know your thoughts on how medication and natural remedies can help people get sober. Personally, I started taking Gabapentin (off-label use for Alcoholism and Anxiety), this med has helped me tremendously with controlling cravings. Also, I take Naltrexone as a precaution, in case I do relapse (God forbid), it makes drinking completely unenjoyable and prevents me from overdrinking. Lastly, I replaced my evening drinking habit with brewing a strong mug of chamomile tea and it helps me relax, it gives me a similar feeling to drinking a beer. - V

      Congratulations on your sobriety, I have 28 days for the first time. I also had 4 years of experience with Gabapentin and I would encourage you to do more research on that drug. I had to go to an emergency room in a Mexican hospital once and they called it a bad drug. I was given a 2 week step down prescription to get off of it (sorry don't remember the drugs I was given) and went through withdrawal symptoms from Gabapentin that were far worse than withdrawal from alcohol, even after decades of drinking. I like to take every opportunity to help keep people from having to go through that hell. Anyway, again congratulations on getting sober!

    • @viv687
      @viv687 6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@user-eb4ds9ln7f Thank you! And I'm sorry you had such a bad experience with the medication, I will say it definitely has its risks and it's not for everyone. I was told by my doctor that you aren't supposed to take Gabapentin for a long time, it's just for the detox period and then you are supposed to slowly taper off of it. * Disclaimer I'm not a medical professional, just sharing my experience, results may vary.*

    I’ve been on the sobriety search very deeply recently and found your videos . Motivated me In a ridiculous way, taking your tips , applying them . I’ve got as far as telling my family, friends , coworkers etc.. talked to a doctor (not necessarily by choice, I had an ear infection, then an anxiety attack in the doctors office )
    But regardless made it too the point where I’m getting help, and support . And I just have to say, this video motivated me more than anything . As I’m trying to wing off , I’m down to only 4 drinks today, and I’m already feeling way better and motivated to get completely sober .. thank you for everything your doing , this video really hit home . Wow I’m exhausted from watching this video, what a lot of ground you cover Jae. Fortunately I can keep up with you, in 2 days I’ll be 11 months sober. I feel great and there are so many improvements in my life. Last night I had my daughter with her beau over for dinner. Both drank alcohol and my wife, normally very abstemious joined them, but I was able to look on tranquilly not feeling the slightest wish to imbibe. When they left I was able to give the beau a few bottles of beer that had recently been given to me for my birthday by an out of touch relative. I smile at the cupboard where the other drinks are still kept untouched. I’ve come a long way in those 11 months. Freedom is such a fabulous feeling I will work to ensure I keep it. I want to thank you for all your encouragement Jae and in my turn encourage others looking to change their relationship with alcohol. If you’re thinking about leaving alcohol out of your life, it’s hard but so worthwhile. I’m an atheist and I believe we humans have to help each other. It would be wonderful if there were an all powerful dad you could turn to, to get you out of trouble but I don’t believe there is. You’ve got to put in the work and pull your head out of “alcohol is my friend” zone, and realise the damage it’s doing. When you’ve done that you’ve got to keep on keeping on. Best of luck brothers and sisters. ❤❤❤
