- It's Mopar madness in the Horsepower shop as we build a high-powered Hemi. The 572 cubic inch monster will hopefully hit the 900 horsepower mark when we're done. Then, we hit the track for some nostalgia street racing.

It was nice back in the day when you had Chuck and Joe hosting Horsepower TV!
in the days pre-PN whoring out to corporate sponsored builds, episodes being glorified product placement/infomericals
Yep I miss watching them on tv
I"d like to see Joe and Chuck hosting Horsepower TV again. They were so much better than today's hosts. The 572 HEMI is a real monster and a masterpiece of engineering, design, and assembly.
Two good hosts. It would be nice to see them hosting again.
I grew up on this, on tnn the Nashville network. I remember it was horsepower tv and trucks with Stacy David. There was another show called shade tree mechanics
There's no replacement for displacement.......
Fly high, Joe...... Godspeed !!!!!!!!!!!!
Best 2 guys to ever do it miss you 2 guys building engines together
This is what dreams are made of! This is an all-time goal to build a similar engine for my '69 Valiant.
Thank you for doing a great job !👍
Very nice flash back.
never was much of a hemi fan, but that's a gnarly engine
How could you not be a HEMI fan
Never was much of a hemi fan is not in my vocabulary
@@SamDaMan-ov6hl I am not either
A hemi fan
Loved watching all the fluid pouring out of the right side header during that first dyno run. Must have puked a head gasket or something else let go. Lol.
Naw. Thats overflow from the Dyno. When they shut the hemi down, the headers jump a bit. But that didn't effect the water; as it should have if it was coming from the header. Just a bad camera angle to film from.
Love horse power tv.
GASP! @2:35
Although the Valves where being "TESTED", why was everything (except the Crank Bearings) installed "DRY"?...
Even with testing, wear and damage can occur on dry surfaces.
it throws off measurements for the clearances because of the oil film I'm not sure why the cam and lifters were installed dry though
Love it, and I bet Dom Toretto will too!
finally some red blooded American, alpha male content . . . cue the hater comments.
Ken is still pumping out Hemis at Indy...but alot has changed!
Meaning?
Yes horsepower tv back in the day
It's important for newer cars and engine owners to remember where they started. Just like old music was the origin for new music! That's being respectful which is something that's being lost!
Hemis rule .

572 Hemi, aluminum heads, roller cam, huge roots blower. Hopes of 900hp ? Better be over 1000.
This was from 24-25 years ago genius. Tech has changed a bunch since then.
@faststang85 my friend built a 496 Big block chevy with a roots blower that ran on pump gas over 20yrs ago. It made over 1000hp. Forgive me if I still am not impressed. Genius.
@@mitchellferre1652 😅😅 all depends on the combo. No one said it was impressive, only that 25 years tech to make 1000+ wasn't far and few between. This was an entertainment show. Joe who just died was a salesman not very mechanically inclined. The only one who probably knew anything was chuck. So i wouldn't expect record numbers from a tv show
What year was this aired ? I just saw another video with Ken assembling a 572 hemi which was taped recently and sadly like myself he has aged quite a bit
Why is there a screen on the bottom of the oil pan,?
Will that intake work on a stage V heads?
Parts list?
This seems to have been recorded 25 years ago. He wasn't fooling anyone with that hair, even back then

I hate this .050 cam lift, use .005 or .006 lift, it's better.
Oh look. Mostly old parts and rust
@Wild Bill your name tells it all, you got a horse and carriage,1 hp lol...
where? i don't see any chevys or fords.
oh look , it's not a shoveitorleaveit pissing oil everywhere
Wild bill , is proof that you can’t fix stupid.
@@HorseJizzTim there is a reason why Mopar owns the drag NHRA. Theres a reason why you see hemi swaps in the other two brands 😂. Even enginemasters one of the guys that is hardcore Chevy guy even admits that Mopar is far better when it comes to performance at a drag or performance vehicle. I do agree that LS swaps are the bang for your buck and for street use daily. Hands down. Saying for the Chevy dudes. But just because the affordability and the power you can make with all the aftermarket support there is. But if I was gonna go all out definitely the Mopar block would be my choice. It's just expensive to build them. I like all of them tbh but the sound of the hemi can't be beat
