Located right in the heart of Amritsar, the stunning golden architecture of the temple and the daily Langar (community kitchen) attract a large number of visitors and devotees each day. The temple is open to devotees of all faiths and serves over 100,000 people free food from all walks of life.I was stopped by strong Guard In the middle of Golden Temple Amritsar🚨 because videography is not allowed inside the temple.

This is a spiritual place, a place to listen Gurbani in a peaceful atmosphere. Videograpjy inside Gurdwara premises is prohibited but committee has provided photo point where sangat takes their videos & photos jnside. However other parts of premises is open for photography.
Yes they only allowed to making videos for only celebraty and to make movie. they never allowed normal people they have to make a rule for everyone not for few and normal people

I live in amritsar..and can visit this heaven whenever I want to ..still after seeing this I got goosebumps ..making videos have been prohibited few year back when some people made offensive content..so feelings of people don't get hurt they had to do this ..Golden temple is the place where I can visit alone..this place I can't put it into words what I feel here ...it's like soul is not in the body . Blessed !

I visited Sri Harminder Sahib over 20+ years ago. Still to this day I can recall being completely overwhelmed by the beauty of the holy place, truly magical.
The setting sun over Amritsar cast a warm glow as I left to board my flight back home. I'll never forget the visit 🙏🏽

I went to golden temple ( Darbar saheb 🙏 ) on Jan 2018 with my friends
Such a peaceful place and those ancient shrines gives u inner peace 🙏🤗
Everything is perfect like the way of taking care of everyone and their backpacks and giving a token of ur luggage when u deposit it and returns u back when u return the token

But i regretted with one incident and it hurts me alot i tell u why
When i was their with my friends
We take lot of pictures outside the shrine and after that we go fr a darshan
We are in the que of darshan and a Sikh brother came to us ( who is the invigilator in the shrine ) says us turn off ur phone before entering the inside of the shrine
Bcoz its strictly prohibited ( and that's a good thing ) and we all turn it off mns we put it on a airplane mode and we all come out after the prayer and go fr a meal ( langar ) and stays there fr the night and in a morning 🌄 we move back to our Residence !
After few days i see a post on a instagram in which the Canadian pm
Visited the Darbar saheb 🙏 along with his family and clicks the photograph inside the shrine where Gurbani sangs by Sikhs !
And that time i understood what's the D/B common person and reputed person and it's similar like our Indian law ( everyone should be equal in the eyes of law its fr only namesake )
But in reality poor / common people's face law rich and reputed people's make their own law and break law
That i understood on such day

Yes and the fact is that there is the throne of Aurangzeb inside it which was conquer by baba banda singh ji and baba baghel singh ji and placed inside Golden Temple to show that we except only God rule no one can rule us.

Most people don't realize Darbar Sahib or Harmandir Sahib (often mispronounced as Golden Temple as it is not a temple but a Gurdwara) is neither a museum nor a tourist place. It is the sanctum sanctorum place of Sikhs and its decorum is defined by Sikh principles and traditions. One goes to Darbar Sahib to be in His presence, lose identity, and immerse in the divine Gurbani. Bollywood and many tiktokers had started to abuse the privilege without caring about the Gurudwara traditions, thus the recording ban. It was refreshing to see you took being corrected with humility. Glad you had a chance to visit and experience the aura of the most important gurdwara of the Sikhs.

Hi Ted, most of the religious places do not allow videos by mobile or any camera because in the past people have been found to use such clips for making background for their songs etc. It is just like I was not allowed to take photos inside Buddhist Monasteries in Ladakh. Therefore, nothing to feel sorry, we just respect the rules of all such holy places. Best wishes and stay blessed.

Though it isn't allowed, I've seen people taking video on their phones inside the sanctum sanctorum. What the guard probably meant was that you can't record a selfie-type video & deliver a commentary. This was enforced recently when a girl filmed herself dancing in the premises & posted it on TikTok.

This restriction is only for commoners, when any famous person visits there, those guards even take out there Mobiles to take pictures with their phone cameras, religious places are not bound by rules and regulations, instead, they are meant for relaxation, peace without borders, and it's a freedom learning place, not a jail to restrict something.

Yes, fingers is not allowed inside the Gurdwara for security reasons and misses by certain people.
Don't feel sorry, you are Blessed to have stepped foot in such a holy place where Gurbani/prayers are recited 24/7.
The head scarf is called a package.
The dip in the water is not a ritualistic practice. The water tank was constructed in the early years in 1600 plus, when there was no pied water. It was for devotees to freshen themselves.
The water was served by a sewadar when Guru RamDas Ji was constructing this Gurdwara and the sewa continues to date.
Yiu have also done a sewa by filming Gurdwara. Bless you.

Perfect time to visit is from Mon to Fri because on weekends it is not possible to go inside the Sanctum Sanctorium(main part of the Golden Temple) for Darshan unless you can wait for 2 hrs in the queue.
And if it is a special day like Gurupurab(bday of gurus), Bandi Chodd Diwas(Diwali), Sangrand(first day of every month according to Sikh Calendar), etc on those days too there are really long queues for darshan.

Ted,though I am buddhist , being punjabi we all respect sikhism and all the Guru's. Nobody is allowed to film inside the Golden temple, its self imposed restriction,because there is continuous recital of gurubani from the holy Guru Granth sahib,its out of respect. So please don't mind ,we need to respect each other. Thank you for your visit.

He stopped you because some dumb people record videos with some sort of (love, funny, etc) songs/music in the background. Though you were not doing anything wrong but he didn't know what you were doing.. so because of some dumb people all other wise people also get included into the restrictions. Yes, no videos inside the most private of spiritual place where people are praying. In my university, they don't allow any video taking during lectures or presentations also because it adds extra pressure and stress to the person being filmed. They cannot let loose and be true to themselves but have to worry about how they look to came or worry about what to say etc
maybe there prohibition for video graphics because of the some reason not for only you for everybody that's don't feel sad and most beautiful seen watching from Nepal
