  • Purchased this Surefire G2X Pro flashlight 10 years ago for military use. I have put it through the ringer. This is in fact the older 200/15 lumen light NOT the 600/15 lumen light which is what they upgraded it to.

    "This did drop and get ran over by my Humvee once... but it survived it." Damn, hell of a light. Thank you for your service too.

      Ive dropped this thing many times over the years. I was at NTC (National Training Center) and did accidentally run it over. Realized i left it on the hood, and thankfully it wasnt broken. The ground was decently soft where it happened so I will take the win.

    I have owned several of the pro version. Low, high, click to stay on. First, the low goes away, leaving you with high only, which is a chip, not switch problem. The plastic lens retainer breaks out with heavy use and multiple drops. These MIGHT last me 5 years at the most. Still the best available in my opinion.

      Glad to hear you have had a similar experience with yours. It's probably one of the best hand lights ever made IMO.

    Just curious I've seen people say not to use rechargeable 123s in it is that true and if so how often do you go through batteries?

    • @LuckyLoonOutdoors
      @LuckyLoonOutdoors  ปีที่แล้ว

      I cant speak to reachargable batteries as I do not use them.
      As far as regular batteries under normal military use. I have to change them out approx every 6 days. If under heavy use (night operations), every day they need replacement. The low setting is why the batteries can last for so long, your eyes will adjust easily to the lower light and if using night vision devices you will use low more anyway.

      I don't know from experience but surefire says on the website that you can use the actual surefire rechargeable batteries they just don't perform as well.

      I was really suprised myself when I did the math. In this comment thread, someone did help me determine that I have the 1st gen version. The current version has more lumens and tougher electronics.....cuz apparently they could, so why not do it.

    You talked about 600l but 10 years ago they had 200/15. So you did an upgrade?

    • @LuckyLoonOutdoors
      @LuckyLoonOutdoors  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thank you for the comment. After looking back at my light you are absolutely right! This is in fact the older 200/15 version. My wife has the newer upgraded 600/15. I will have to add a comment on the video to correct the mistake! Still an absolutely stellar light.

      @@LuckyLoonOutdoors But can you upgrade your older version? Does Surefire sell the new led separate? On ebay you can get led upgrades aftermarket from chinese brands that fit.

      Thats a VERY good question. As far as I can tell they didnt change the housing just the LED. That would be a good question to send over to surefire, their customer service has been super responsive based on my experiences with them. With the new version of the light (600/15) only being $80. I would rather keep my old one as a backup and get the new version.

      @@LuckyLoonOutdoors The newer versions have thicker springs in the head and they are already conformal coated electronics which makes them more durable compare to the older generations with 200 and 320 lumens output.
