  • In this video, I do a No Cut step by step of how to adjust your valves on your hawk 250 / CSC tt250 or any other 229cc motorcycle.
    There are a few ways to do this and I try and share the most basic and foolproof techniques I have picked up.
    The video is long but I show everything and was able to do this one-handed while filming so I hope that gives people reassurance that they can too.
    Any questions or requests please comment :)

    I would like all the information on your skid plate, where you got it and which model.

    Hey Steve when I removed the cover on the side with screwdriver a whole lot of oil came spilling out! What could have caused this and what should I do? love your vids btw.

    • @SteverGarage

      That is normal
      It should not leak much especially if on kickstand.
      Could be lightly over filled
      Put bike up rite and check dipstick for oil level or just drain and fill oil.
      But no a bit of oil leaking from the plugs is 100% normal

    Hey man what do you torque the valve cover bolts to?
    And i did it exactly how you described but now it sounds like there's a lot more ticking in the motor then before. Btw i bought it used and it has 1250 miles on it. It was missing and sputtering around 5-6 rpms before and when i got the valve cover off those valves were very tight. I adjusted them to .005 and .004. What do you think is happening with all that ticking?

      Just snug did not use torque wrenches on the valve cover.
      The motor being a flat tappet will be kinda noisy with proper gapping. Should sound like a sowing machine.

      @@SteverGarage yeah since I adjusted the valve there's serious ticking going on in the motor. Scared the shit out of me but after watching some yt videos I've seen that that pretty normal. Insane to me! I think I'm gonna re-adjust them to .003 and .002 or .0025. They've been tight for the life of the bike 1,250 miles later. Idk it I'll just ride it for 100 miles like this and see if it quiets at all

    I want to know which of the two marks of the T should be aligned and which is the maximum PMS point

    • @SteverGarage
      @SteverGarage  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It’s a scribe line with a T. That shows when the piston is at top dead center, which is where we want it to be for the valve adjustment operation.
      Should only be one line next to the T
      There is also one next to the F
      And a double scribe line that shows when the ignition is fully advanced.
      Do a full Rotation and see all of them to get a better idea but you are interested in T

      @@SteverGarage should the letter T be in the guide with the case? Or is the line next to the T the one that should be aligned with the guide? Thanks..!

    • @SteverGarage
      @SteverGarage  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Should be the line or at least close
      Does not have to be exact :)

      @@SteverGarage Ok Steve and lastly could you help me to find out
      How many turns do I give the carburetor air screw? Thank you

    • @SteverGarage
      @SteverGarage  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      If you’re referring to the one on the bottom of the carburetor 2 the 3 out as a baseline
      Takes some fine-tuning tuning to get it perfect
      Out = more fuel at idle

    My valves are super loose when on the firing T. Is that normal?

    • @SteverGarage
      @SteverGarage  ปีที่แล้ว

      Make sure you are on the right stroke.
      They should just have a tiny bit of gap
