A few months ago I also moved with my sister into a bigger apartment. We upgraded from a tiny space similar to your old one and I so feel because every time I cook in our kitchen or get to stock up on groceries I literally start to thank God. Right now the back of the chairs are parallel to the two walls, the glass sliding door and the counter.
