Yes we can talk abt it. The genre of this drama is wuxia. It’s not some magic but it translates to martial heroes / low fantasy. In this world, the people cultivates their qi or inner core and it can basically make them lighter and thus sort of fly. They didn’t casually have magic. It’s a thousand years worth of history and if you’re new to this genre, welcome!

This will probably piss a lot of people off, but this show does the in medias res beginning SOOOOO much better than the Untamed. With this, the story makes sense even before the flashback starts, and the flashback just heightens the information that you started with. With the Untamed, you start off confused as hell and don't get clarification until like 30 episodes later. It's so off-putting that it pushes new viewers away.
Interesting. I speed-watched The Untamed one night. That helped. I think I'm going to have to do that with this. And I do like this female lead. Dislike women palace intrigue. Bring on women

This show is adapted from a novel. In the novel, Yunxi was a poison control specialist in the present day. After an incident she crossed-over in time and basically her soul and memory landed on top of this timeline's Yunxi. Originally, that scar on the face was a huge ugly tumor caused by poison.
At present day, they were developing a system that gets implanted in the brain like a chip. This system allows the user to access an encyclopedia of poisons in their minds and it even has a dimensional pocket where things like medicine and ingredients can be stored. Yunxi cured her tumor using these medicine and her present-day knowledge of poisons.
Due to China's weird TV show evaluation rules, they can't do all these. They must categorize this show as a specific type and if they were to include all those in the original novel, this show had to be categorized as fictional history, science fiction, as well as time-crossing. So they cut out everything except for fictional history, therefore it needed 3 episodes to explain the scar and stuff.
@@MathStringInputOutpu Yeah I've read that novel too my favourite type of novels are those novels with Isekai (Main character gets transported/ Reincarnated to another world), Martial arts, Historical. I love these fantacy novel stuff sometimes i wish i could be a main character of an Isekai.

They really did a long flashback. It's still entertaining bec this also shows the settings and characters since it's still early in the series, so I don't mind. However I do wish they just started the drama with the flashback scenes rather than making it a "flashback".

A suggestion to writers/directors of Chinese historical drama: quit having people coughing up blood when they are ill. You should know that only very few diseases will cause coughing up blood as a symptom. Every Chinese historical drama will have coughing up blood whenever someone is sick.
I guess it makes for a more dramatical effect to cough blood. 😂😂
@@rimanarimin1489 I guess so. Once or twice is ok. but after seeing it countless times, it gets annoying. I like Chinese historical shows in general, especially the ones with kunfu. There are a few things that are annoying though, coughing up blood or vomiting blood are 2 of them. By the way, Princess Agents is the best in this genre. If you haven't see it, I definitely recommend it.

@@rimanarimin1489 I have seen several Chinese historical Kunfu dramas from the beginning to to end; and have skimmed over a few others. So far, Princess Agents is the best, far better than the rest. If you haven't seen it. I would say it probably should be your next one to watch. :)
Coughing up blood is a result of a disturbance in their inner qi, so it's normal for these types of dramas.

In the end everyone keep talking about Gu Qishao. How great he is and how he loves Yunxi. But what I felt is 90% of problems in her life is caused by him. Be it deadly poisoned mosquitoes or how she was arrested and every other thing. When comments support Qishao i just wonder, did they really forgot what he did to her.
