I'm an urban music producer and urban music production was popularized off of sampling from funk, jazz, reggae, blues records. Back in the day you could get by sampling the oldies, now it's much harder to get away with legally. Not everyone interested in this product is looking to re-create the hay days of big band or jazz. For the horn "purists" the thrill is in playing the instruments not in playing the samples on a MIDI keyboard. It has it's uses for me in recreating the parts of samples I like for my own productions. It does the job!
That knowledge will make using this more fun, trust me. Even with the ease of articulation, it's difficult to make a genuine horn sound. You know a horn instinctively, so you'll be able to use this to its maximum potential.
Awesome tutorial!! I've had this software for months and had no idea it was this powerful!! Needless to say I have some fun work to do, thanks for video, great job.
Not in this version, for solo instruments you need Session Horns Pro. Or you could use the solo sounds in the kontakt Factory library as the Band library in the full version of Kontakt has solo saxophones.
Aaah, a native accent - funny how much you miss that when you spend over a year with the Kiwis down under here ;o) Thanks for the video mate, educational and blimmin brilliant!
Hi Toby. May I ask, can we play 4 trumpet chord or even one trumpet solo. The same, can we play just trombones at the bottom and then trumpets on the top of that, and just sax section playing something independent in the middle? Like in Big Band or Jazz band.
One of the better tut out there if not the best. Thanks for uploading man. A quick question. How come I do not have the animator on my session horns? I am not seeing it anywhere.
What I need to know is how do you get automation lanes to appear for Mod Wheel Depth and Mod Wheel Rate in Session Horns so you can add a vibrato to the notes you choose.
in 10 year of using Reason, propellerhead never disapoint me, and im an ex Steinberg Cubase and protools user, as long as the only goal is too make music this soft do the job very well, RE are compatible with VSTI they don't have to re devellop the soft for it, the RE SDK are able to convert VSTI.
basicly we have the same tool used by protools user or cubase and ableton, but trust me there almost no lag when you play the virtual sampler NN-XT, it's night and day compare to other vsti and rewire virtual sampler, it work also with no dedicated ASIO sound card on PC, same thing for mac user, we can share online session with the Allihoopa support; and play with people using tablet as a recording device.
what bothers me is that they NEVER include that really really powerful sforzatissimo for the sax...you know ,when they blow in it so hard that it starts to slur and go off key and feels like the sax is about to fall apart.have yet to find a top of the line library that does it the way i want it.had more luck with 90s romplers than with modern libraries smh
I guess this is probably because there are manys ways to play in this range, each player has its own unique color while doing it so sampling it is probably not easy.
(talking to the creator of this software) These are by far - THE WORST MUSICIANS ON OUR PLANET you sampled, and the majority of the banks in the library are completely useless...! Just listen to the individual samples, on some notes, your "artists" are literally farting into trumpets and saxophones...!
Cool program! but the fake horns sound like garbage to be honest. Horns are simply too human instruments to sound good/real when synthesized on a computer. Hire real session musicians and support the industry! (if you can afford to)
Pal Jeremy is right. This library is pretty much a joke, and even though the sounds may be, in fact sampled from real instruments, I guess so many scripts and processes make them look fake. As a musician playing for a long time with real brass sessions, I can assert without any reasonable doubt that any person here saying WOW WHAT AN AMAZING SOUNDS or IT SOUNDS AMAZING or words like those, clearly doesn't have a clear cut idea about how a brass session may sound, this library it is not that different from my brass sessions on my old KORG TRITON STUDIO, believe me.!!! Do you want the real deal or the closest thing to a real POP/FUNK session try FableSounds Broadway Big Band or LITES, they suck as a company and support but boy....nothing can come even close to those idiots, I mean....NOTHING.!!!! Of course be prepared to pay premium price and brace yourself in not to get problems because they suck big time as company. But again..this NI SESSION HORNS is a joke.!!
The Stoney Zone It doesn't really matter what the original source of the sound is. Because whatever looping and tuning correction software the samples have been forced through in order to be used in a midi program has rendered them lifeless, uninteresting and frankly in my opinion unlistenable. You would have to be deaf to hear this program next to a real horn section and tell me you didn't notice a considerable difference.
100% agree with you pal Jeremy that is why I wouldn't get tired saying; DO YOU WANT A REAL BRASS SESSION..??? WELL..HIRE A REAL ONE. If you can't afford it, the next best thing (and the only one in my humble opinion) you do can compare is from the idiots of FableSounds with either BroadwayBigBand or Broadway Lites. The suckers from that company have been the only ones taking into consideration what you (Jeremy) just said that is why you can even feel the lips of the trumpet player falling apart or even the breathing given the accuracy of of the samples, and I guess this is because the several patents they have been awarded with to handle the programming scripts. Of course this is a $ 2,300 library for a reason. Other than that, the rest of the pop/funk brass libraries are a joke...SO....100% agree with pal Jeremy.

Thanks for this. I read the manual thoroughly, but this tutorial pulled it all together in a very clear and practical way. Super helpful
Damn! And I spent Years Learning Sax, Trumpet And Trombone!
That knowledge will make using this more fun, trust me. Even with the ease of articulation, it's difficult to make a genuine horn sound. You know a horn instinctively, so you'll be able to use this to its maximum potential.
Just the tutorial I needed to see. Thank you for your help.
Awesome tutorial
Toby, greetings, man. Very good tutorial, like and appreciate how you used reggae too. Many thanks, man. Bless.

You are a piece of shit Jos Van Den Heuvel, this brass sections sounds good, son of bitch! you and your music sucks
@@VjRoboZ what the fuck man
It sounds good, but definitely not better than the real thing. The asking price is also absurd.
How can I use the trombone independently ???
Awesome tutorial!! I've had this software for months and had no idea it was this powerful!! Needless to say I have some fun work to do, thanks for video, great job.

Hi Toby.

Brillant video.
Great video Toby. I'm about to write some funk rock instrumentals and this is really going to help.
I need this in my life.
I wanna hear that solo sax 🎷
This version doesn't have solo instruments, for solo instruments you need Session Horns Pro
or you could use the Kontakt Factory library saxophones.
This is exactly what I needed!!!
One of the better tut out there if not the best. Thanks for uploading man. A quick question. How come I do not have the animator on my session horns? I am not seeing it anywhere.

Is any one know how to use this Lovely horns with cubase.i rilly want by pls help me .one love

We seriously need that in to Reason Rack Extension format.

Do I need KONTAKT to run this or can it Work as a stand alone plug-in??
u need kontakt
Totally cool 😎 … thanks mate
is there a way for me to solo a trumpet?
With Session Horns Pro you can.
hello friend, can I use this plugin in Fl Studio?
Yes you can. Kontakt runs in FL Studio beautifully
what bothers me is that they NEVER include that really really powerful sforzatissimo for the sax...you know ,when they blow in it so hard that it starts to slur and go off key and feels like the sax is about to fall apart.have yet to find a top of the line library that does it the way i want it.had more luck with 90s romplers than with modern libraries smh

"Hire real session musicians and support the industry!"
lol says the nigga that plays a saxophone. What a selfish plug.
Or you could just write the horn parts and hire a real horn players - there's an idea
or you could just use this -- there's and idea, purist.
