This video ain't sad. It shows the guts that he had. To be in early recovery and go on stage like this and perform anyway. The man put on some weight, yes. Many people do that when recovering from substance abuse. He was a bit foggy headed. Same deal. I've been through the same thing. I've been sober for a while now, but those first few months are really rough.
Love ya, Pete. You were one of a kind.

THE TRUTH: Hello fellow Type O & Peter Steele fans. I was skimming these comments & am seeing lots of theories so I wanted to drop a quick note. I was actually on this tour, I was the direct support acts manager & tour manager. Type O has been one of my favs forever so when we got the tour I almost glitched. Any way Pete & I became fast friends on the tour because I was also sober and I stepped right up to encourage him & help keep him busy, hell I even carried his toolbox & duffle bag for him at each stop, and flashlighted him on & off the stage because his tour manager was also their sound guy so he didn't really get too much personal assistance, aside from his guitar tech. Anyways, I was there and I have some insight into his health & mental state. Yes, he gained weight because he was in recovery but he was on the mend and in good spirits. He & I devised a plan to record an interview & share it on TH-cam because he wanted to make things right. In this vid he discusses new music, next chapters, apologizes to anyone he had offended in his "intoxicated rampages", etc. I still have the footage, I need to convert it and upload it. He even says "Damon, I hate to say this but I'm feeling rather positive" then gives that classic Peter grin. Hell, he was lifting weights with us, and swinging kettlebells. I could go on for hours with stories and memories from the tour but I just want to share this info for the ones who really love Pete like I did & still do! He was fucking excited and ready for the future & he was embracing sobriety!! They were looking for a new label at the time and I contacted several who came out to see the show on our Chicago date. He was writing & planning ahead, discussing a healthier lifestyle, and coming back strong. He was not a sick and brokedown soul, he was healing, finding his footing, and about to serve up another batch of tunes. He knew he was loved and expressed that it meant the world to him! I have the pictures and video to prove it. I still have his number in my cell. God Damn if October Rust isn't one of the best albums ever recorded!! And remember what he said "when you're at my wake, don't come to mourne, come to celebrate". - Damon Moreno / The Inner Light Agency

I've noticed something those of us who have been under substance abuse problems. Receive for more criticism when we get clean and end up a little chubby for while than we ever did when we were wrecked . Let that sink in . Super shallow those people should be ashamed of themselves.

I put out my hand to shake his and started to stutter,he was so humble in his approach we ended up having a conversation about stuff.I then woke up and worded 'thanks Pete'. 23rd and last time I saw them. This was the Nokia theater. I'm probably right next to whoever recorded this because you can hear me and my friend screaming lol. I still have my video from this night as well on an SD card somewhere but the sound and picture are kinda rough not as good as this (ahhh the digital camera days-no phone ). That security guy and another were constantly watching and warning us and others that we couldn't record and I kept telling them were just taking pics. Peter did look rough that night. Honestly he looked tired and worn out and the encore didn't last as long as they normally did. Was still a great show. Sadly he died 6 months later. These Type O shows were a huge part of my life. Miss them tremendously!!!

If Peter only knew how much he was loved, there would've been a different path. The thing is, drugs and booze can amplify creativity and expression. This is just the way of a rock star. Some can and some can't.

Duncan H I know right? It's when I think you really need them the most (for whatever reason) and their not there. It makes sense to me now the music, not when I was 18 or so.

Jim Korthe and Peter both died in 2010. Bummer, lost 2 good frontmen that year, (I know there are others as well). Never got to see 3rd Strike or Type O Negative in concert. My loss, our loss. R.I.P. Love you to death - It's a battle living paranoid.

The Description should be corrected. Not Smells like Teen Spirit is played but the beginning of Come as you are. And after that the riff of Aqualung from Jethro Tull.

I feel like someone should have run up and given him a hug and told him he was good enough. It wouldn't have probably made a difference, but I feel like maybe he needed to hear it more.

Pete looked so ill & withdrawn here. I seen Type O 13 times. First time was on there October Rust tour in 1996 in London,Ontario,Canada & then i seen them once at The State Theater in Detroit & the rest of the shows i seen them was at Harpos in Detroit. Always a very killer show at Harpos in Detroit as it was Johnny Kelly's favourite venue to play as the rest of the band members also loved playing Harpos as well.

you're not the only one my friend cause i too had the un-privilege (if there such a word) not to have seen them perform live. though this i can say that i had the honor of meeting Type-O-Negative in a video signing event at Sam Goody store (no longer in business) in NYC years ago of their debut AFTER DARK documentary video which i'm happy for, cheers!

I noticed you were mentioning the songs in the description. The song between Come As You Are and Smoke On The Water is a song called "Aqualung", by Jethro Tull.
