This video ain't sad. It shows the guts that he had. To be in early recovery and go on stage like this and perform anyway. The man put on some weight, yes. Many people do that when recovering from substance abuse. He was a bit foggy headed. Same deal. I've been through the same thing. I've been sober for a while now, but those first few months are really rough. Love ya, Pete. You were one of a kind.
I seen Type O Negative Twice in 2007, 2008. That was my last Concert I've been to. At the House Of Blues in Orlando, right feet away from Kenny. I met Johnny Kelly outside the venue very nice guy. Great memories that's all we have in the end.
THE TRUTH: Hello fellow Type O & Peter Steele fans. I was skimming these comments & am seeing lots of theories so I wanted to drop a quick note. I was actually on this tour, I was the direct support acts manager & tour manager. Type O has been one of my favs forever so when we got the tour I almost glitched. Any way Pete & I became fast friends on the tour because I was also sober and I stepped right up to encourage him & help keep him busy, hell I even carried his toolbox & duffle bag for him at each stop, and flashlighted him on & off the stage because his tour manager was also their sound guy so he didn't really get too much personal assistance, aside from his guitar tech. Anyways, I was there and I have some insight into his health & mental state. Yes, he gained weight because he was in recovery but he was on the mend and in good spirits. He & I devised a plan to record an interview & share it on TH-cam because he wanted to make things right. In this vid he discusses new music, next chapters, apologizes to anyone he had offended in his "intoxicated rampages", etc. I still have the footage, I need to convert it and upload it. He even says "Damon, I hate to say this but I'm feeling rather positive" then gives that classic Peter grin. Hell, he was lifting weights with us, and swinging kettlebells. I could go on for hours with stories and memories from the tour but I just want to share this info for the ones who really love Pete like I did & still do! He was fucking excited and ready for the future & he was embracing sobriety!! They were looking for a new label at the time and I contacted several who came out to see the show on our Chicago date. He was writing & planning ahead, discussing a healthier lifestyle, and coming back strong. He was not a sick and brokedown soul, he was healing, finding his footing, and about to serve up another batch of tunes. He knew he was loved and expressed that it meant the world to him! I have the pictures and video to prove it. I still have his number in my cell. God Damn if October Rust isn't one of the best albums ever recorded!! And remember what he said "when you're at my wake, don't come to mourne, come to celebrate". - Damon Moreno / The Inner Light Agency
Thank you for the insight! So grateful he had someone like you as a friend , please post anything you may have for us truly dedicated to remember the amazing person he was ! Bless you 💚

I've noticed something those of us who have been under substance abuse problems. Receive for more criticism when we get clean and end up a little chubby for while than we ever did when we were wrecked . Let that sink in . Super shallow those people should be ashamed of themselves.
Pete did look awful here and he knew it, but he never at any point wanted us to pity him. Even through his pain and struggles, he was out here performing for the crowd and giving us his awesome sense of humor. Don't cry for him, celebrate what he did for us and how he's in a better place now. We all love you, Peter Steele!
So sad to see him like this. 6 months before its infarction. But he will be forever in our minds a force of nature with a fucking charisma and an amazing voice. Rip Peter, you're sat next to gods.
You bloody marvellous bastard. Type O are fucking great, and I shall continue my pledge to have them ousting Bieber, swift, west etc. Pete will rise from the earth and moss to cleanse this shithouse of which we live
Well said. He is maybe not in his best shape, but his voice is ok and he actually play his bass parts properly (not as at Wacken for instance). So the future looked quite good at that point...:(
I loved at the end of one show of theirs I saw in Milwaukee in shit, 99' maybe, Pete closed with "weather you love us or you hate us, it don't fuckin matter cause you already paid us." The dude was one of a kind.
