The whole MV has such 2000 vibes. From angles and lenses, sets and lighting, to the outfits and subtle pop culture references and, like you mentioned, Y2K - the 2000s "end of the world" craziness. I think it's so clever how they included all the 2000s stuff in a cool way and the sound is a banger. They did so so well with this.
Yeah for reference Y2K was a computer issue that actually required tons of work from programmers to fix..it didn't actually cause harm, but it could have.
that theory youre tryna start regarding "end of the world" and place that stores data actually makes senseee and because of that i feel like that will be their concept for the next comebacks and like, one day, they're gonna go through all that 2012 end of the world extravaganza and it excites me thinking about it!! i was thinking earlier what they could still do for the next concepts but wow this made me realize there are a lot that they can cover. love that for them
I have been an ENGENE from the first minute ... I saw I-Land and I have seen the boys grow and I am so proud of them ... It is the only group which I could follow from the start, so they are so precious and special to me
You are totally right, it is a fish-eye lense. The styling and camera work and set design is SO y2k, they have pulled it off perfectly for this MV. They referenced 2000s western boybands, popular hiphop videos, (yes, fight club!), Matrix, first gen Kpop, and more. And the boys themselves delivered it with such POWER. It is so flawlessly executed. I'm definitely in awe as well. Servers exploding is what I think a reference to when people thought that when 2000 hits it will be the end of the world which we know wasn’t the case but what actually happened was a huge technological crush because devices were not set to switch from 1999 to 2000 sooo everything (servers and other important technologically related items with dates and stuff) just fckd up for a brief moment and then they fixed it. I think that’s what it is but I might be wrong. The song is amazing. MV is AMAZING. 😍 and of course your video as always SUPERB! kisss from Brazil🎽💋💗🔥
omg you describing how you feel so connected to them unlike any other group is so relatable, it's really insane how they pull you in. it was the same for me as well, i found them at a time when i was slowly moving away from kpop and now here i am...ulting them. I love so many other groups and i ult 2 but enhypen just has a hold over me that other groups don't
To anyone who doesn't know yet. DARK MOON: The Blood Altar with ENHYPEN is one of HYBE's Collaboration project with Naver(Webtoon) the others were 7 Fates: CHAKHO with BTS and THE STAR SEEKERS with TxT.
The first album’s title track, “Tamed-Dashed,” expressed the dilemma that the members faced in whether to conform to society’s expectations or “dash” to find their own way. But Dimension: Answer is the next step. According to Jake, this new album shows that the group has already decided to find their own answers regardless of what society says. ❝ The album voices our will to refuse the answers set by the world and to find our own answers. We cannot be sure about what the right answer is, but still we will not follow what’s given by society, and find our own.❞ The new title track, “Blessed-Cursed,” expresses how the members feel that society’s rules and expectations make them cursed rather than blessed, and it is this concept that gives the song its darker, more powerful tone-and what makes the song the embodiment of ENHYPEN, according to Jay. The song is about the members’ intent to find their own way and their own answers with confidence now that they are no longer in the “dilemma” stage, which Jay says best represents the group and their style of performance. ❝ I think this song is what best embodies ENHYPEN. If we showed a different, fresh side of us in the previous album, this time it’s all about ‘being ENHYPEN’ and ‘performances only ENHYPEN can do.’❞ Sunoo echoed those feelings, saying that he also feels that “Blessed-Cursed” is about the members pursuing their own paths in life. According to a press release by BELIFT LAB, “Blessed-Cursed” expresses the contrasting emotions of growing up. “Accepting what was given to the boys and being tamed by the rules of society seemed like a blessing, but now that they‘ve realized the truths of the world, this all rather feels like a curse,” the agency explained in a statement. “The track is the band’s declaration to the world - ‘I’ll go my own way.❞ This message is evident throughout the group’s lyrics in “Blessed-Cursed.” During the song, ENHYPEN discusses going against society’s expectations of them. “Boundaries holding me in/ To hell with your rules,” they sing at the start of the track. They also talk about going on their own journey to figure out who they really are. “I walk like a lion. I'm making my own history. I don't know answers. I just go my own way,” the group continues in the chorus. The music video for “Blessed-Cursed” adds to the meaning behind the song by featuring powerful choreography they’ve coined, like the “prayer dance,” “lion dance,” and “fight dance.”
Ever since I woke up I have been watching this MV and every time I notice something new😭 just the details and the clothing all the 90s style!! They NEVER MISS
I grew up in the 90's so watching this was a flash back to MV's I watched in my teens, so cool! They definitely got the Y2K thing down which was a theory that at midnight on 2000 all technology/data would implode. OMG this song hits so hard! THEN we have ENHYPEN with their visuals and vocals! I downloaded this song when it dropped and it's been on repeat! I can't believe how much our group has done since they debuted. FORCE TO BE RECKONED WITH!!!
I was in 5th grade in 1999-2000 and that New Year’s was INSANE because of the Y2K “scare”. Basically, since the internet and technology was growing so rapidly (among other crazy theories) the concern was that the World Wide Web infrastructure would be shut down and therefore every thing running on computers would also shut down. People were going nuts buying out groceries (similar to the Pandemic now). The music during those days though was killer!! I loved how they used the New Years celebration party at the beginning to let you know what the concept was. Their outfits, the music, everything was so perfect! Love from the USA 🥰🇺🇸🔀💜!
So glad ENHYPEN is becoming one of those groups for you, cause they are absolutely something else Also Dark Moon: The Blood Altar is their universe, any video that pertains to their storyline has that logo at the end now. It’s also the name of their Webtoon that releases on the 15th of this month I believe
Dark Moon: The Blood Altar is the webtoon that’s coming out on Jan 16th, and all the Enhypen MVs are loosely based on that plot line that we’ll finally get to learn more about soon.
don't know if you looked it up later or if anyone explained, but the Y2K ''end of the world thing'' iirc was people thinking that either computers will explode or systems will shut down because the year would have to change from 1999 to 2000 and computers only displayed the last two digits of the year, so they assumed systems would recognize '00 as year 1000? it's really cool they incorporated that into the video, enhypen never miss
the whole music video is soo 2000! The angles and scenes and outfits and them! are just amazinggg!? Love ittt I'm so happy you reacted to this! Love ya reactions! :D
8:14 I actually got to know this because of my dad (I'm a 2003 girl). So everybody thought there was gonna be like a global technological stop because the calendars in every computer or electric device wouldn't continue the change from 1999 to 2000, so everybody was going a nerve wreck and though it was gonna be "The end". But nothing happened, the calendar continued and everything was normal XD. I remember my dad telling me that he was sent to work that days in case of an date breakdown ( his work is related to electronics and those things)
The Dark Moon is the title of the animation telling their story of vampires and their struggle with werewolves, and there is a girl who comes among them so we don't know what's going on Appantion will be published on the 16th of this month
I have never seen a song so "divisive" or "controversial" with some of the reviews lol! Seems very critical tbh and overexaggeration at times but with the KR response Belift/HYBE still knows what they are doing. I like this song a lot and them experimenting, I think they should stick with these types of genres. A much prominent chill instrumental and less repetitive chorus.
this seriously is my fav title song of theirs even though all of their songs including b-sides with their titles all slap and are bops. everyone wrecked me but as a sunoo bias I was happy to see him sing and sort of rap sing at my literally favorite concept ever. yes we are all so proud of them!
8:26 ooh y2k related scene, history of computational limit. Not sure how this related to opening scene, soon-to-be released red moon webtoon or whatever enhypen cinematic lore is about
I was waiting all morning for your reaction! Also, your sound is always good with your mike, but those darn crickets/locusts/Florida insect monster noises are going to kill me!
So...I keep thinking this is showing different eras of their vampiric evolution. We've seen them develop from human to vampire through Given-Taken which looked like 1800s teen outfits with the short pants, seen the British sort of 1940s-esque boarding school with rugby in Tamed-Dashed. My gut tells me this is set after Tamed-Dashed but before Drunk-Dazed. The explosion looks to me like to the locker hall in T/D, so I wonder if they blew up the school and broke free of their curse? Embracing their vampire nature? Just my thoughts.
I feel as if both ENHYPEN and TXT are going through this like 2000’s emo phase and fans of both groups are LOVING their musical direction. Maknae line is causing Enha heart attacks. Hyung line is as well, but I wanna point out specific people; Sunghoon, Ni-Ki, Sunoo, Jake and Heeseung. As far as who surprised me the most, I’ll go with Jungwon.
When you pause on Heesung (sweet mother of god Sir...Can you Please relax) & im not very smart I have like 4 total i q: 😁...me C A L M when this came out last year (inside: JAAAAAAAKE...white walls) ...💜
I was soo excited when I saw your video reaction to Enhypen 😊. I click on it right away. Insanely Amazing song. I can’t get enough of the video. Thank you Ben. Their other song is a slower song Polaroid Love. Hope to watch your reaction.
BENNNNNN I think you got something! That whole Y2K thing definitely is called here. I couldn't quite get it until you said that! (writing it down in my EN- lore book....) EDIT: I just rewatched it back and on the first frame with Jay and those glitch affects, I noticed that it legit has "Y2K" flash in the middle of the screen! You got it Ben!
I don't know how it relates to the mv and their story line as a whole. From what i heard from other reactors these outfits, style or something is called Y2K? The Y2K i know refers to the y2k bug issue in 2000(the end of the world thing). So I know for sure it has something to do with those exploding mainframes or supercomputers in the mv. Just dont know how it relates.
Answer me this: was it wine...or was it blood? Think about it...what is their concept? Vampire/werewolf, right? I'm fairly sure that in almost every MV, there's goblets of blood being drunk somewhere...especially in "Drunk-Dazed". I think they are keeping it consistent.
You spend so much time reacting to what they are wearing and their looks that you didn't even mention the killer song. Is a great song and all you can do is comment on their fits and never stop talking irrelivent rambling over the entire video. Train wreck.
The whole MV has such 2000 vibes. From angles and lenses, sets and lighting, to the outfits and subtle pop culture references and, like you mentioned, Y2K - the 2000s "end of the world" craziness. Jake and Jay killed me this comeback. already watched it 3 times becoming more and more obsessed with this song
I was wrecked by EVERY SINGLE ONE OF THEM. The song slaps, the visuals killed me. Jay and Jake are my biases but.... Jungwon's red fit? S I R.
Every time I watched the reaction video of this mv I saw the all people who were shocked by jay visuals my boy deserves
The choreo is really what gets me like whattttt
Red Moon: The Blood Altar is the new webtoon that will be released on January 16th that highlights Enhypen’s whole storyline. IM SO EXCITED!
This is their best song. This hits just different, I love the more Hip hop R&B vibe I get from this.
they're getting better every comeback !! and it's crazy because they're already amazing with a no skip discography
Niki & Jay… their best looks so far.
I have been an ENGENE from the first minute ... I saw I-Land and I have seen the boys grow and I am so proud of them ... It is the only group which I could follow from the start, so they are so precious and special to me

This is the end of an Era. They have crossed the line and now they are taking control of their lives ( That's storyline) and music on a deeper level.
So far my favw reaction so genuine and you know all of their namesss. Thank youuhuu
I like your honest reaction!
8:26 ooh y2k related scene, history of computational limit. Not sure how this related to opening scene, soon-to-be released red moon webtoon or whatever enhypen cinematic lore is about

You spend so much time reacting to what they are wearing and their looks that you didn't even mention the killer song. Is a great song and all you can do is comment on their fits and never stop talking irrelivent rambling over the entire video. Train wreck.
i love your reaction!
