Lovely!! The next time, press your fabric before you cut it, to give it more of a smoother lay. I was a bridal couture designer for 40 years and i love to help and teach young artist in fashion design. All ways happy to help!
When sewing tricky fabrics like silks and satins, you can starch them (practically dumping into starchy water and drying) to stiffen them and make them easier to handle. When you are done, you wash your work and voila!
I altered the pattern a little bit to give homage to the Harlem Renaissance and fashion at the time, but this tutorial was so clear. I think that this is one of the most clean and professional dresses I have ever made. The only difficult thing for me is the cups. I always struggle with cup and they’re by far the most difficult thing for me to sew, but this was great!
THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR THIS! As difficult as it was sewing with fine silk on the bias, your tutorial and pattern was so clear and easy to follow along with! So excited to take photos of the final dress I made! Definitely will be using more of your patterns in the future :)
the pattern says to sew with a 1/2 inch seam allowance, does that mean i cut down the line for a size small that i still need to add the seam allowance or that it’s calculated in the pattern?
That dress looks so wel-made, very precise and I love the print. It looks very high end in the fabrication as well as the overall combination of print and pattern. Also obviously you are gorgeous in that dress
OMG why am I only seeing this when I'm almost finished with my silk gown and promised myself I would never use silk again cause it's so hard to sew. But you got all the tips! amazing!
Wow... I watched the whole video feeling mesmerized... tour calm voice and the music... I feel like I just meditated... thank you. And the dress is simply stunning...
I saw you on instagram and immediately searched “how to make summer dress.” Hoping to find a style similar to yours! I’m soooo glad you have a channel!!!
After working on this pattern, I found that the medium top pieces actually fit the large bottom pieces! Tried so many things till I realized that fixed everything. Also, I had 60 inch fabric, so it could be great to have the godets optional, because I didn’t need them and it was annoying to tape them together.
I saw your other video like I mentioned in your earlier video it helps to pick the shiniest fabric possible preferably a polyester fabric because it's more durable than silk and silk is extremely high maintenance I guess you could use silk but preferably you should use more polyester in other words one silk dress for every five polyester dresses preferably you won't go wrong with polyester I promise I've been working with fabrics for 35 years I'm 50 years old I started when I was 12 so you can imagine the experience I have thank you for considering my input
Hey Tracy 🥺 I really love your videos and the dresses you make I want to make them too but your tutorials are very hard to understand for beginners 🥺 Can you please do a simple diy for beginners 🥺💖
This is beautiful. I was getting a little confused tho bc the way I learned in classes a staystitch is a small stitch length like 1 and doesn’t get removed, and a long size 5 stitch length is a basting stitch and is more of a temporary or placeholder stitch
Thank you, and teachers have different methods of stay stitching, I do a size 5 stay stitching as a temporary hold because I only need that stitch for the fabric not to grow before I sew all the seams together, after I sew those seams the staystitch serves no purpose.
So gorgeous! Just for next time: you want to alternate the direction of the front and back pieces when cutting on the bias so that the dress doesn’t twist
Though the dress I'm making isn't this one and is designed mostly by my own imagination they are similar and I've gotta say you really seem to know what you're doing and are still very entertaining well done!!!!
Very chic and tender dress, clean job. I like making clothes for myself too ) sometimes I post on youtoube . I sold my item just once because I think its not good enough to sell.🤭
Thank you very much, a beautiful dress and very well explained, greetings from Spain although you do not speak your language with the images I understand everything 🤗💖
I can’t wait to make this dress! Can you put the link to where you got the lining from? And what momme is your main fabric and what momme is your lining? Thanks!
Hi Tracy! I set the printing scale to 100%, but there were still gaps around the sides, so when I cut out the pattern, I figured that the size of the lining and fabric was a bit different. Is this normal?
Thank you so much for this very helpful and clear video! I have a question - if I am going to shorten the dress so its a mini dress, do I need to shorten the 16" invisible zipper? Thank you!
Beautiful. I need a silk dress that has 3/4 or long sleeves. Similar fabric design. Thinking of layers of chiffon and lining for the body, and sheer sleeves. Help! I've looked at patterns and can't find what I'm looking for.
Love this! How did you learn to digitize your patterns? I have a corset pattern that I really want to sell on Etsy but i dont even know where to start.
Hey I have a quick question, I did this dress using heavy fabric more like satin organza and it fit nicely, however when I used full satin and silk it was tight on my hip area. Do we have to add more inches for our basic body pattern?
OMG R U JOKING I WAS JUST ABOUT TO USE YOUR OTHER PATTERN FOR HIS DRESS ANS I WAS TRYING TO FIGURE OUT HOW TO ADD LENTH O THE PATTRTN OMG THANY YOU SO MUCH
@@Vinevenom I am glad this is helpful but if you want the other style all you have to do to make it long is just split the bottom of the skirt pattern tape it down to a new piece of paper to desired length and connect the side seam and center front with straight line th-cam.com/video/RS1S_7I6-Vg/w-d-xo.html this should help
Hi, what kind of sewing machine are you using and/or if you have other recommendation to buy. I want a machine that has edgers and overlocks and everything that you would need in a sewing machine. Thank you
Lovely!! The next time, press your fabric before you cut it, to give it more of a smoother lay. I was a bridal couture designer for 40 years and i love to help and teach young artist in fashion design. All ways happy to help!
Hello, I’m hoping to find someone like you in my area to help me get started! 🥹 It would be lovely! 🥰
Do you have a youtube channel?? I really want to learn from you
This is so beautiful and relaxing. The fabric, the music, the tutorial, the background in the end, the final dress. Job well done.
I seriously fell asleep 3 times while trying to watch it! NOT boring, just soothing. I eventually made it through and learned a few things, though.
I was fighting not to fall asleep. That was so soothing

I've always been scared of sewing silky fabrics, but this dress is so beautiful I might give it a shot.

Just bought this pattern off of Etsy!! I’m going to use it to make my wedding dress, and I’m even going to attempt to add a train. Wish me luck 🥲

I think the eco print you did is SO GOOD. Genius idea! It's so reminiscent of autumnal nature and so so pretty
Such a flirty, pretty dress. Your sewing skills are so clean.

your voice is soooooo relaxing to me. i’ve been watching this every night to fall asleep for like a week LOL
Wow... I watched the whole video feeling mesmerized... tour calm voice and the music... I feel like I just meditated... thank you. And the dress is simply stunning...

You are almost there.......to be a true atelier . To turn fabric into art. That is skill. Anyone can make a dress. Only a few can create art.

Hey, I also have this issue! What did you end up doing?
This is so lovely! Is it possible to make this with a leg slit without the addition of a seam above the slit? (I hope that makes sense!)
lovely
Love it!

Do you happen to do custom orders? Would you make this exact dress for someone ? Not necessarily the pattern but the dress itself ?
How did you get so good at sewing ? I’m just starting please talk about your journey
Ur work looks super profesional, do you go to sewing school?
