My MG4 SE came with newer software and been brilliant for 18k miles, only issue has been warped rear motor undertray which has a Repair Note from MG but dealers seem to ignore it and blame me for a defect from delivery, nice.
It's good to hear they are sorting out the software.... The undertray has been a common issue from the start...Where are you based..? Some dealers are better than others 🤔
We are at 13400+ Km with the MG4 64 Essence (Trophy) here. I gave up on the app quite some time ago. It is a complete mystery and I don’t use it at all. It will not reconnect anyway. The car is well behaved and a delight, but there are some exceptions: (The navigation is ordinary, so I never use it. It makes too many noises every time we leave or arrive at a new location or suburb); (It slows down in one of our local streets if a largish car is parked in a particular spot. The road widens at this point, but the MG can’t work that out. Fortunately the car which triggers the slow down isn’t always there.) (Never turn on TJA!!!) Otherwise, no complaints. I would like a software update but there is nothing wrong with the car. It’s just the software. The update the car came with meant that many of the issues I had heard about have not happened to us. Like many MG4 drivers I have a list of things I would like to see ( a cabin light in the back along with an a/c outlet; smaller rear head restraints in the back, a small frunk for cables; a powered tailgate; wireless CarPlay. Despite all the above it’s a very nice car and is great value. I would love to see other brands offer great affordable EVs. Competition is a good thing. The MG4 deserves some decent rivals at similar prices.
Nothing here to disagree with 🤔 Although my app is now working great, I can turn on the heating in the morning and always see what the charge level is when the car is away…I even messaged the wife to tell her that one of the tyre pressures was low when she was driving 😊 The rear of the passenger cabin could do with some facilities, night and day compared to my model X but that’s 4x the price…! Thanks for your thoughts
I love my MG4 Trophy. I've not had the problems you have (or any others). I get a little frustrated that the car does not remember my preferences but that's about it. Currently on R49, I declined the update to R57 because it killed the hot spot. I hear rumour on another later version that fixes that but I will wait till others habe tried it
Some of those annoyances like having to keep turning off LKA (even if I get out of the car to close my gate..!) are down to the legislation...I started obsessing about what the latest software fixed but after my first experience having updates I just didn't want the risk. I've never used the hotspot..? What do you use it for..? I think spring time I'll go for the most current software available and see if my life improves 😊
The lane keeping assist is the bane of all modern cars unfortunately 🤔 If I forget to turn it off it's annoying but no too obtrusive...The law in Europe says there has to be at least 2 actions to turn it off, Dacia have a button you just press twice on the dash..The MG requires at least 4 actions to turn it off...I have the assist set to "weak" so it's not going to wrestle me into the weeds..💪🏼
I’ve had my MG4 for two years now and have not suffered from these issues. LKA remains a bit brutal despite a low sensitivity setting. A visit to the MG garage in January might fix this?
Ive worked for SAIC and nearly all MG cars made by SAIC are deadful. The interior of the MG 4 is dated, with carbuncle like switches and full of piano black. The MG design team are now in Paddington, London. They are good guys, but realy letting the UK down with the MG brand. Saic need to put more effort into their cars for the Europe market. Their cars in asia are a hundred times better.
Interesting 🤔 They have a slightly different line up in Europe..I never understood why my car came with a heat pump but in the UK they never..the interior for the price is ok for me although dark. I tried to order the optional grey interior (as in my first video) but there were problems getting them from the factory..
Oh, I really like my MG4! You must have refined tastes. I imagine a lot of typical car buyers think it looks quite neat. I mean everyone comes from a different car to start with too don't they. So for example I was coming from a 2015 BMW 116d and I really love the interior of my MG4, it feels cleaner and is way more comfortable and higher on the road a bit and has a better view from the front. That being said actually I do find the tech a bit over the top and annoying. But not enough to have any buyers remorse, i love it already 😅
Yes. The workshop is ok, they try very hard but have very little support from MG Europe.. If you see my original video they did everything they could 🤔
The r30 is not the updated version, by the contrary youre running very old version current is the R59 if im not mistaken, also your app is the oldest version, im glad its working well now.
I guess they don't want it to catch fire 🤔 Who knows..? But as long as you put it on 20 minutes or less before you are about to leave it's not an issue (yet)
I've had an mg4 SE LR for nearly 2 years.
Excellent vehicle.
Interior is absolutely fine.
Always good to hear a success story

04:29 - Wife's had enough of you.... lol
Apparently, you can have too much of this driving 😁
Thanks for your real world review....the good and the bad. Glad the update delivered the goods!
Thanks for your kind words, hopefully there is plenty more to come

Thank you for this video. I'm glad the update solved all issues of your MG4.
I’m relieved to be honest 🤓
But the heat pump didn’t work this afternoon for the 1st time in months 🙄 intermittent faults are always the worst…
@@captains_log23 oh
Nice video. I'm glad the updates have given you improvements.
Thanks…

This is helpful as I am thinking of buying an EV and the MG4 has been on my short list. Any comments about the lane-keeping?

In the first location you see Caldè, Italy. Not too far from my home :)
Yep, it’s near my home and always quiet for making content 😊
Lane Keep Assist - less aggressive?
I've never experienced the "wrench" on the wheel I've read about but I turn all the assistance that can't be turned off down to it's lowest settings

I’d like to know how it goes…🤓

Where do you take your car for service? In gavirate's MG ? I always heard bad reviews about this place
Yes. The workshop is ok, they try very hard but have very little support from MG Europe..

I’ve seen that, I’m just happy that it has some functionality now 😊
I can live with it for now and maybe in the spring go and bring it up to date…
Why only heat the car for 10 minutes, is that as long as it stays on from the App, no Dog Mode ?
I guess they don't want it to catch fire 🤔 Who knows..? But as long as you put it on 20 minutes or less before you are about to leave it's not an issue (yet)
Would never buy an MG but would buy an Xpeng, Zeekr, Xiaomi, Nio, any Geely or other chinese brand. Would not touch with yours the MEB VW platform.
I’ve been trying to get a drive in a Zeekr but they aren’t in Italy yet..
And what are the shortcomings of SAICs MSP?
