Well done Melissa👍🏾. Your transparency and ability to touch on topics that are often ignored is what makes you so unique on the platform you occupy. Good health is holistic and that is your message. Thank you so much.❤
I haven’t had a drink in 517 days. I was around heavy drinkers, I drank socially but I wouldn’t make good choices when I drank. I learned about my family’s history and decided to stick with a program and a sponsor and educate myself and share my story. I also started eating clean and working out 🏋️♀️ and I am down 10 pounds I have 30 more to go. I am so grateful!
I will show your video to a few people 🙏🏽💚 in the UK there's such a drinking culture intertwined with social occasions...I've been frowned upon, asked what's wrong with me, etc because I don't drink or just have one drink...then they moan at me the next day as they feel rough or ill...I bite my tongue and focus on my own fitness and health. Thank you Melissa xxx
You can do it! I felt the same but the changes in my health were remarkable. I wasn’t a problem drinker but I found that my wine drinking interrupted my sleep cycle badly in my 50’s. The change in sleep quality and quantity was well worth it! Like all things, an adjustment but entirely doable!
I downloaded an app to help me feel accountable. It’s called “I am sober”. It tracks my days, the money I have saved, and has community support. Now at 55 days I don’t need it as much. It goes by quicker than you think it will!
It's not impossible. You have to replace your drinking with something else. When we take away something, it has to be replaced. And pay attention to your triggers, and stay away from that. Avoid foods that increase cravings for alcoholic beverages. Having a clean healthy diet and drinking plenty of water should take the desires away.
Am 42, quit for the second time 6 months ago. Still miss alcohol at times, but feeling great physically. Instead of numbing myself, quitting forces you to face your problems head on. It's tough not having the booze to fall back on during tough times, it's always been there in the past. One day at a time
So proud of you not just for quitting but for sharing honestly. I stopped drinking a year ago for the same reason and never looked back. Life really is better without it!❤
Thank you so much for being so transparent. Sadly, I'm one of those people that just can't have one drink. 😩Im 46 and I've been drinking every weekend since I was 21.The only time I didn't drink was when I was pregnant with my daughter. Then I started up again after giving birth and stopped breastfeeding. . I've been thinking about quitting all together for months, but it's SO hard. Unfortunately Alcoholism runs in my family. I lost my grandfather to cirrhosis.😢
I grew up in a teetotal family. I feel that to have a healthy attitude toward alcohol, I can't embrace either extreme. I have dry seasons, and times that I enjoy a drink or two. It's about balance, and not giving alcohol more attention than it should have. That's just my opinion for myself, not judging anyone else.
I haven’t been able to have a drink because I don’t want to have a fitness set back. It can take up to several days for one’s body to purge itself of the alcohol. It’s just not worth it to me. I work too hard.
Well done, beautiful Melissa. My weaknesses are sugar chocolates, etc. I have never drunk, but I can't have only one biscuit chocolate. So I had to cut it out completely. Sugar and alcohol are very much the same both addictive and both give you health issues. You look absolutely amazing, and thank you for being a huge inspiration in my life❤
Good job making the appropriate adjustments. That’s a healthy example of self correction and good on your friends for being it to you in a open hearted way ❤
Excellent for you! Congratulations on being alcohol free! Thank you for sharing this important and timely message. You are helping many people as alcohol drinking is socially accepted even with so many harmful health effects on people.💯❤️
I just restarted my sobriety. I want my Saturday mornings back, my fresh eyes in the morning and my better sleep. Plus, those cocktails are easily $20 a pop!!

I turn 50 on Friday and my goal has always to be completely alcohol free in my 50’s, now I am stressed that I won’t be able to do it.
