Just received the 990x myself and have a mla30+. I to live in Clearwater Fl countryside area. It looks like the best time to listen would be after 1 am. From your videos due to solar propagation. I have a mfj 1886 ordered, I should receive less ground noise.

Toms radio room your two Tecsus are cool
Toms radio room Tecsun H 50,1x and the Tecsun Pl 9 90x the H 50l has two speakers they sound the same H 50.1x has more bass
I just got a tecsun h501x and I like it a lot👍 the sound quality is top notch!!!! I also have a sangean 909x2 and a old Panasonic rf-2900 . All are fun to listen to but I believe the tecsun h501x gets less noise. Thanks for the video and happy New years 🤤

Wow nice, I've been torn about getting the 501x and the 909x2. I'm leaning toward the 909x2 because it has Airband and I live near an airport.
I am 35 miles west of Lubbock,Tx, I also get lots from Nashville. I do get Chinese. I only do late evenings. Just started a few weeks ago.

What is the difference between the Tecsun H-501 and H-501x?
* The H-501 is for North American users there is basically no difference between the two.
* The H-501x, is for the European, Asian and African continents.
Of course you can use the H-501 for overseas reception as well.
H-501x makes it a little easier to adjust certain settings to better match the SW and LW frequency range and FM tuning step conditions in for the European, Asian and African continents.

That is a hard decesion. I like the bigger 501 with the stereo speakers.

To me the Pl-990x audio sounds better and clearer.
What about using alligator clips
That will work but not as good.
There is a new cheap radio that is getting very popular (HRD-700), maybe you could try it...
