    This was a life saver for me! Lol thinking about creating shipping costs was just so overwhelming for me as a Canadian but this video at least took some of that overwhelm of the unknown away

    Hello! Thank you for all these great videos, they have been very helpful! I'm sorry if misunderstood but you've mentioned a couple of times that if a customer buys two items from different listings and different shipping profiles, that the shipping would add up in full. Is there a way to bypass this or a solution? Or is that just the case we gotta roll with? Thank you again!

    • @DoodlesnTea
      @DoodlesnTea  3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I'm glad it was helpful! Yes, since it's taking the cost from two separate shipping profiles, the shipping cost for both profile A and profile B add up. Unfortunately, I don't thinks there's a way around it yet (or at least to my current knowledge!) :(

    What's the importance of the shipping profile, should I create one for each country or what?

    • @DoodlesnTea
      @DoodlesnTea  3 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      You don't have to group it for each country. I like to split mine by Canada, USA, and international because that's how the postage rate differs here.
      If you go by etsy's recommended settings for shipping, they will charge the buyer the shipping price per item instead of per transaction, which will add up if someone is buying multiple things. I talk more about this in some old shipping videos on my channel 😊

    I am starting a sticker shop on Etsy and all the shipping information has been so confusing but your videos really helped me understand a lot :) I was curious about one thing though, for example, I have 2 listings under the same shipping profile as $3 and the customer buys both of those listings, will they still be charged $3 or will it add up to $6? I hope that made sense :|

    • @DoodlesnTea
      @DoodlesnTea  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yayy i'm glad it helps! I totally get what you mean haha hmm I think they might be charged $6..not 100% sure. However, if your two listings are under the same shipping profile, you could always add an additional cost of (for example) 50 cents. That way if your buyer purchases those two listings, they'll only be charged $3.50 in total! Hope that makes sense :)

    I was wondering how this works if you're only shipping within Canada and offering free shipping, when there"s only the option of Parcels for shipping. How do I get it so I can ship Other (non standard and Oversized Lettermail? I am trying to sell stickers so its just a small 7x9 envelope. Thank you so much!

    • @DoodlesnTea
      @DoodlesnTea  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I have mine written as parcels as well for my shipping profiles since us Canadian shops don't have the lettermail option on Etsy (apparently stores based in USA do..). It hasn't caused any issues for me since the estimated delivery time for parcels is around the same time it takes for shipping by lettermail to arrive to my buyers. The only important thing is setting your shipping price in the profile! Since lettermail is cheaper to mail out, you can set it lower (if that is what you decide to offer) and set the mail class as parcel. Hope this makes sense!

    Thanks for this video! Just a curiosity, I noticed you have a shipping profile called "test tracking", I was wondering what is it about and if it's something you'd recommend doing

    • @DoodlesnTea
      @DoodlesnTea  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Oh yes haha That was one I made to try and see if I could implement a tracking option into my shipping profile (since I have a policy that states I'm not responsible for lost untracked mail). I've deleted it since filming this video because turns out, you can add tracking under shipping upgrades at the very bottom of each shipping profile.
      All you need to do is fill out the destination, carrier, mail class, price, and label the upgrade as "Tracking". Hope that helps :)

    Hiii! Thanks for your videos. I'm almost ready to start up an etsy shop and the shipping part is really confusing me :/ like you, I want to send stickers via letter mail (im in Australia but works the same) how does etsy know I want to send it via letter mail and not print out a label or charge for delivery (if purchasing the stamp at the post office I dont want etsy to charge me the delivery cost). I may have misunderstood sorry but any help would be appreciated! :)

    • @DoodlesnTea
      @DoodlesnTea  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yaay that's so exciting that you're almost opening your shop! I hope this breakdown helps:
      As for delivery charge, Etsy will still charge your buyer a shipping price that you set (I usually have it set as the price of the stamp in my shipping profile). Once your order is packed and mailed, you can set the order in your shop manager as "Mark as Complete" and that's it! "Lettermail" is more of a classification that post offices use instead of Etsy themselves.
      ALTHOUGH as of this present time (and not the time I filmed this video), Etsy has it's new Star Seller thing (which I'm not a fan of...) which tracks whether you bought a shipping label from them/provided tracking. If you buy more shipping labels through Etsy for your orders, you have a chance to be part of their Star Sellers which means they'll "promote your listings more for that month" and that's why I think it's terrible since that screws over small shops like us who are just selling stationery and want to keep shipping costs low :(
      With that being said though, I'm still using stamps to mail out my sticker orders because I care more about my buyers getting low shipping costs than needing them to pay $8 for buying one sticker sheet.. haha The choice is up to you! Hope this kind of helps >

      @@DoodlesnTea thank you! Actually one problem I've been hearing alot of is when you have multiple different items being sold in one transaction and the shipping price is added on for each item is there a way to get rid of the extra shipping costs (multiple sticker sheets fit in one envelope so no need to charge more for delivery for multiple purchases). Sorry for all the questions but you've been so helpful!!! :)

    • @DoodlesnTea
      @DoodlesnTea  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@carmelalettering8688 Yes! You'd have to create a shipping profile instead of have Etsy calculate the rates for you. If you go to the timestamp of 9:05 in this video, I'll also explain how to add your own additional fees IF you would like to charge more per additional item someone buys (since overtime, more items=heavier letter=more postage) :) hope this helps!

    hii my paper envelope looks pretty bulky and thick.. does it still count as lettermail or is it a parcel?

    • @DoodlesnTea
      @DoodlesnTea  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I think the as long as it's under 18mm thick, it'll still count as lettermail. Basically lettermail is anything you can fit into the mail slot (at those drop off boxes). Hope that helps 😊
