Really getting uncomfortable with Dr. Ruben's response to Sam Omasheye, his friends article. Just yesterday, Dr. Ruben lost his cool and ranted on National TV with so much ego, pride and arrogance simply because he was criticized by Gov. Wike. I think Dr. Ruben, needs a vacation. However, the pen is a powerful tool and should be used with great caution. Sam Omasheye, I really doubt what you may have learnt from your years of writing to the point of using the picture of a fellow human being, who is alive like you and ascribe 'Obituary' above his picture. Apologise to Mr. Peter Obi, because prior to this 2023 elections build up, you had no problem with him. Linking PO to miscreants and IPOB cannot hold water. I really sympathize with you especially from the point that you wrote via a newspaper owned by Bola Ahmed Tinubu. PO is a pro Nigerian nationalist. He believes in Nigeria. Whatever God you serve, go and ask for forgiveness. Morally you were wrong. You just went too far. It is obvious that APC/PDP now see PO as a major challenge to the Aso Rock seat. Instead of telling Nigerians how they intend to address the issues facing Nigeria, they are busy attacking PO's personality as if PO is Nigeria's problem. The more they focus on PO, the stronger and wider PO's popularity and acceptance will grow.

If Omatseye was being threatened by whoever, doesn't he know how to report to the police? Did Peter Obi threaten him? Why does every nonentity call Peter Obi's name when their stupidity backfires?
You put up a presidential candidate's picture and write obituary as the heading, then you turn around and shout that the person should be held responsible if anything happened to you? Wait a minute, who was being threatened here, Peter Obi or Omatseye? God forbid, if any happens to Peter Obi, Omatseye must be held responsible.
Does Omatseye think Nigerians are that naive? He wants to use a false narrative to divert attention from the outrage against his silly article? Isn't it very clear that that was his plan from the beginning, because how do you move from writing an obituary of sb else to calling out the same person as the offender without any interaction with the individual?
Here is Abati trying to twist the truth, by shielding his so-called Omatseye friend. I'm ashamed if that is who Abati sees as a friend. Abati did not see anything wrong in Ometseye putting Obituary heading over sb's picture, but he is quick to believe that the same individual was being threatened by Peter Obi.
Well, it is now obvious that APC and PDP have finally shown that they are the same one party, with only one enemy, PETER OBI. I wonder why the man who they say is only a SM phenomenon is their chief problem. Lol

Reuben Abati is gradually chipping away at the respect I and indeed many people have for him. How he managed to only point out the alleged threat, which was not even substantiated and completely ignored an unprovoked smear article that Sam Omatseye wrote, using Peter Obi's picture and titling it Obituary, is beyond biased. I watched in disbelief. A leopard can never hide its spots and Abati, much as he tries to paint himself as a person with integrity, is no different from the corrupt establishment.

Omatseye chose violence and received violence. He went low and the Obidients went lower. As a professional, he ought to have been more professional. In any case, all media reporting are biased including this report by Arise TV. For instance, pointing to ASUU to find other ways to fund universities and comparing that situation with Lagos Business School is biased reporting. ASUU does not own universities, the Federal government does. ASUU is an association whereas Lagos Business School owns its institution and can seek funds directly from its alumni. I will not even bother going into the issue of why academic institutions do and do not get funds from alumni. But I'll leave it at this, if the donor had graduated from UI in the last 10 years, he probably would not have grown enough wealth to consider donating $1 million. Perhaps, he would have been struggling to find a job somewhere in Lagos and would be a victim of unrealised potential.

It’s shameful that Rueben Abati has messed up twice within 24 hours! Moving from self-glorification in his unprofessional response to Gov. Wike’s chiding of him, to another shameless approval of Sam Omotseye’s heartless article about Peter Obi. Rueben cried more than the bereaved in the PDP/Atiku/Wike saga, fighting on behalf of PDP. His stint as Goodluck Jonathan’s spokesman hasn’t left him!
What manner of journalist is Reuben? He found it impossible to balance his views on Omatseye’s irresponsible article by condemning the “Obituary” title to the article as well!
We’re getting to see the real Reuben Abati now that electioneering campaigns are here in earnest, but let him watch it. He is, just a staff of Arise News!

As for Tundun, my advice is that you shouldn't try to be economical with the truth, is better for you to be loved by few for your honesty than being praised by crowd of dishonest people. Finally, the so-called journalist has to write and apologize to PO and the Obi-dients as well as all Nigerians for trying to trigger a tribal conflict with a nonsensical article in a country we are trying to become united. Shameless people who will spend their millions abroad getting medical care in hospitals and training their children in universities built and funded by other rich people's endowments. Ojy Okpe, you must realise that sometime ago, ASUU had an agreement with the government where it was agreed that they need to source funding outside the government budget.
Fast forward, lecturers asked that the companies operating in Nigeria should be billed a percentage of their profit as educational fund. So 2% was billed every limited liability company. The agreement was that lecturers will be part of the board that manages the fund.
The inflow of the fund was very tempting and the government took it over. It ran into billions of naira very quickly and lecturers became outsiders to the management.
So you see that our lecturers are not as bereft of ideas as most people would want to think. Government of the day should rise up to the challenges.

The desperation to paint Peter Obi as a vilain is very intriguing! The worst slandering comes from Reno Omokri who has now decided that Peter Obi is a capone in IPOB. This was the same Peter that just left PDP yesterday or is Reno and his now friend and partner in slander, Omotseye refering to a different Peter Obi?
Could it be that Reno and his yeye journalist friend have known about Peter Obi's alleged involvement with IPOB all the while he was in PDP and decided to keep quiet because he was in their camp?
Unfortunately for them though, they are still playing 2015 politics in 2022/23 when Nigerians have become a lot wiser!
Dr. Reuben Abati( It pains me to put Dr. Next to his name but..) has for a very long time tried to sell himself off as a journalist with integrity but I have always seen through his dissembles. He doesn't even need a PhD to understand that Omosetye crossed a moral and ethical line by printing a picture of a presidential candidate under a bold tittle of 'Obituray' on a national news paper! It's even no brainer even to the uneducated that he should've pointed out the fact that his journalist friend made a slanderous and unsubstantiated accusation against the same man he threatened with death on newspaper of being responsible for a death threat against his person!

Dr. Reuben, you can't stop showing your insensitiveness to issues. So what's important to you is that a journalist was threatened. You are probably part of the problem. Rufai, keep up the good work, it pays! Putting ones name and tagging it obituary is the height of stupidity. Tundun, pls be firm and call bad what it is. Good job.

If this Dr. Philip Ozuah resided in Nigeria they Fulani Govt NigaArea (FGN) would have killed his career - Why only Fulani are qualified to head the FGN even with quarter system education?

Dr Abati,Wow, really is that all you can say, I see,Respectfully Dr Abati your bias is really showing or I'm i the only person seeing it ? When your friend used Obituary to write nonsense about Peter Obi you didn't see that as threatening but when Peter Obi supposed supporters replied with the same manner as you said right of reply, You had a problem with that, You didn't say alot that quite unlike you because your Friend was involved in written rubbish about Peter Obi, Are you guys expecting Peter Obi supporters to be clapping for that guy whom used Obituary to write all kinds of rubbish about Peter Obi......Their response is their right of reply...Whats wrong with that or using Obituary on somebody isn't that life threatening ?

I was beginning to enjoy Ruben's analyses our political disourse, but recently, particularly in the wake of the fallout from Gov. Wike's remarks and now, on the Obi-tuary issue, and quite frankly, he has blatantly revealed that he is chronically biased.

How do you explain to a man called Obi, you write obituary and put his picture at the same time and you are playing the victim? This people can't see that the youths are now wiser and can read between the lines.

Abatí- Your response to Omateseye’s behavior is a shameful disgrace! Obituary by a man’s name is a threat already. Your reply is lopsided and we have no skin in the game. You couldn’t even condemn your friends antics . Archives show you defending Goodluck Jonathan for lesser menacing articles . You’re just a closet politician/ journalist. Eagleyereporters

Ojy, I watched a program where that man Sam Omatsheyi or whatever he is called , was out rightly biased against Peter Obi, accusing him (Peter Obi) of saving the money he claimed to have saved for Anambra state in a bank he (Obi) was a board chairman. That wasn't right of an anchor man. Threatening his life is not right but, sincerely speaking, Journalists from TVC are often times disappoints to the sophistication modern day Journalism tends to portray. It's a pity!

Abati if you have talked about not threatening Omatseye, you should also advise your friend Omatseye not to avertsise a living person and write their Obi-tuary. So Abati you projected BIASNESS here and I am going to reserve the right to agree in TOTO all that Nneka Amahagwu wrote somwhere in this column. I am so sorry for you Abati.

Playing a victim of talking against a certain tribe to get people from his tribe to rise up and say it's this tribe vs the other tribe. Don't worry, the terrorists don't know boundary. Lagos may not survive their scorn.

Perhaps, the only success Sam Omatseye's "Obituary" article recorded was using
Peter Obi to trend and get cheap popularity. What else can we expect from someone on the payroll of Tinubu? Sam Omatseye, like Reno, is just another installment of a person from the camp of jilted and scared persons resorting to personal attacks on Peter Obi. Omatseye's article lacks substance, credibility, is devoid of any objectivity and failed to focus on critical issues bedeviling Nigeria. To say the least, it is a vendetta against Obi, and an attempt on war of attrition using sheer display of tribal and ethnic bigotry as a tool. How pathetic!
Sam, the Chairman, Editorial Board of The Nation Newspapers, a Tinubu owned media outlet, attempted to question Obi's credentials, competence and modus operandi to turn the fortunes of Nigeria that he claimed he will do. But Obi has been drilled on these same, and many other issues on live TV and radio on different channels, and has come out unscathed. He has also repeatedly asked people to "go and verify". Perhaps, Omatseye should rather direct his questions to, and allow his principal, Tinubu, to be subjected to a live interview - not prerecorded - to tell Nigerians what he has to offer, and how he's gonna do it. He should focus on real issues, rather than personal attacks.
It is very obvious that the thoughts of Peter Obi torment them - APC and PDP - and threatens their status quo. They say Obi exists on social media and has no structures, unlike Tinubu, Atiku and Kwankwaso, yet out of the other 16 presidential candidates, APC and PDP can't stop talking and attacking this man called Obi. APC and PDP don't tackle themselves any longer. It is a strong indication that there is something very good about Peter Obi.
    .
Peter Obi is the man "without structures", yet he seems to be the man to beat.
    Nigerians will decide.
