I see Jeet kune do principles in EVERY fight that involves skilled fighters. You obviously don't see "diluted over 4 generation youtube jkd non-sense" that is growing like a pandemic. But everytime I watch fighters like Adesanya, Mcgregor, and other very skilled fighters, I see great timing, optimal body mechanics, precision in striking, balance in motion, etcetera.
@mat..n.7061 Many of these UFC people like Mcgregor don’t use the jkd principles properly like nearest weapon to nearest target, simplicity, directness or especially economy of motion. Using the Jkd principles correct would end the fight quickly hitting areas that is banned within the sport. Bruce described jkd as "efficient street fighting with everything goes" and Dan Inosanto described jkd sparring as "vicious but polished street fighting."
Because you cant kick your opponent in the balls as a legal move in mma. Attacking the throat, eyes, and groin are what jkd teach you. It us designed to end fights quickly. That model of fighting is not suitable for profit and entertainment. Being an effective fighter on the street actually hinges on very subtle things in reality. Can you fight in your everyday wear and not just your training clothes? Do you have a lawyer and healthcare prepared for this possible street fighter phase in your life? Do you train on pavement, it is Fighting for the streets is it not? In summary jkd has concept flaws
For JKD at least, they train in streetclothes, usually t-shirt and sweatpants. I will also say JKD was devloped in a time not technologically advanced as it is now. These days almost everyone has a camera in their pocket in the form of a smartphone. There are also cctvs in many establishments. In Bruce Lees time you could probably get away with a lot more things in suburban areas especially in less developed countries. Now it isnt the case anymore. So JKD is a remnant of a not so distant past that seems distant by comparison.
Guess what....it is! McGregor's style is very JKD: His right lead/power hand fwrd, weak hand to the back; his probing lead hand, fighting posture, footwork, etc. Even his low leg side kicks/back kicks and so on. Connor doesn't fight like a boxer per se; or a kickboxer, Thai boxer etc. Remember his team: SBG, the nucleus of what it came out of. U even know wat a Straight Blast is?? Bruce was doin "mma" long before most martial artists, (besides Boxers, Wrestlers, or Thais) were contact sparring "all out" in other words, you're not that original dudes. ✌️
Bravo!

The music makes it hard to hear the commentary.
OK very good on the next episode will lower it
Essentially good points, not as clearly explained as they could have been but good effort, nonetheless
Mr. Dwight Woods of Jeet Kune Do Dialogues Podcast commented! I will take it!
