@@MrHocotateFreight Most recently, I was playing Population One and spoke to a squad mate, who is little boy, he asks me my age and he goes "aren't you a little old for gaming?" The reason that they often show HL Alyx and Beatsaber, is that those are the most famous and successful titles of the last years. But there are tons of very good games for VR and more are comming soon. the problem is, that those are well known to the VR community but less known outside and its difficult to use them to advertise a headset to the general public. LoneEcho, RedMatter, Moss, Wanderer, Asgards Wrath, Demeo...usw. I am very curious for Asgards Wrath2 and Assasins Creed Nexus. The chicken and egg problem is very real for VR. The technology and standards have changed heavily in the last years and for developers it was difficult and risky to make big expensive games for a still very small target group. The biggest titles were developed and financed by indie developers or Meta and Valve themself. With growing VR market we will see more big titles but its a slow process and cant be compared to the established gaming market for pc and console.
Guys... I am watching this video now and honestly - disaster! Maybe you should invite someone who is more familiar wit this technology? There is SO MANY great games which you can play in VR.... and you are saying you don't know anything except HL: Alyx and Beat Saber... BTW: There is NO any "friction" with starting game on Quest. You take your headset, if you didn't put it to sleep then it is ready to start game in about 1-2 seconds, games are loading super fast comparing to PC - so basically 30s after you touched you headset you are already IN game!
Thank you. These dudes don't know what their talking about.I literally pick up my Meta 2, and 2 minutes later, I'm playing...what friction are they talking about???😂😂😂
It's funny watching the traditional gaming community start to turn their heads toward vr as it becomes better and better and therefore harder to ignore. Some really outdated opinions here. Preordered my 512gb Quest 3 and cannot wait to play Asgards Wrath 2, Bulletstorm, Assasins creed, 7th Quest, Dungeons of eternity etc along with all these mad looking updates for current titles. Gonna be incredible:) Ps, not to mention watching movies and sitting around poker tables with people from all over the world! I haven't felt this excited since receiving my first ps1 as a kid lol
@@ChesterMeadows Exactly! So many great games for Quest platform only.. and what if you can connect PC? Not only VR games but also tons and tons of mods for "flat" (non vr) games!
The Portal 2 VR mod on Airlink. And no, he doesn't need to upgrade his PC. The 'Powerful PC Required For PCVR' myth is over a decade old now, but refuses to die. Since the era of the GTX 970 being the minimum. If you can play ANY of todays PC shooters on a modern display, you've beyond good enough.
Russell - VR is good NOW. Beta testing has finished few years ago. Now we are in a process of constant but slow improvement of this technology... but I would not expect anything revolutionary any time soon. Just buy Q3 and have fun with this headset! Carry - your son should use Virtual Desktop instead of Air Link - much better picture quality.
We're missing 3 key things: 1. A VR Internet..ugh...Metaverse. Grid, netspace, whatever. That will take Government help. 2. An OS. A spacial 3d, 6DOF OS where our own file system is a customizable world unto itself. 3. The Big 2 Game Corpos. EA and Activision still shadowbanning VR game development.
I pre-ordered the Quest 3 to use it for work. I currently have 4 monitors in my office and moving to a smaller house so won't have the room for 4 monitors. Rumor has it that office 365 is coming out for the Quest 3 at the end of the year. The Quest 2 display is too pixelated to do any work. Also I will get two battery packs for the quest 3 so I can change them out for the work day.
Oh man. These guys need to have some Walkabout Mini Golf sessions together so badly, it hurts. The Mario Kart battle mode of multiplayer VR. But for old men. Who like to low-key trash talk. Just like real golf.
I've got a Quest 2, and while I don't preorder anything, chances are I'll get a Quest 3 unless the hands on reviews show there's a major flaw. The lack of eye tracking is potentially a major downside (especially if it becomes the default XR interface after Apple's Vision Pro is released), but aside from that it's going to be the bang for buck winner by a long shot. I'm not going to hold out for unannounced and unreleased devices, just because Valve's reputation is far superior to Meta's and there's a bunch of rumours and hope. By the way you could already use XBox gamepass for flatscreen games on Quest 2 with TranscendXR (applab), and of course there's EmuVR for that flatscreen retro gaming nostalgia (complete with virtual CRT TVs, virtual console models and including light gun games). I should point out that PCVR is actually my main use for the Quest 2. There's some good standalone titles (Population One, Tea for God and Walkabout Mini Golf for instance), but they do tend to be more casual or mobile style games (and some retro games). I'm not really short of games on PCVR either (maybe I spend less time gaming than these people that are out of games?), although of course I'd welcome more. My favourite PCVR titles, beyond the well known Beat Saber and Half Life Alyx, are No Man's Sky, The Light Brigade, Asgard's Wrath, Subnautica, Pavlov, Into The Radius, Pistol Whip, The Walking Dead: Saint and Sinners, the Vertigo series, and then there's the retro titles... Other than EmuVR or VirtualBoyGo, there's plenty of actual VR retro titles available like Compound, Amid Evil, the entire Pixel Ripped series and all the Dr Beef VR ports (Voxel Doom, Doom 3 Quake 2, Quake 3, Prey, Duke Nukem, Jedi Knight II, Return To Castle Wolfenstein). Lastly there's the potential of MR. Given how subpar the black and white pass through on the Quest 2 is for MR, it's amazing that Demeo works so well in MR as table top gaming. I plays identically to the VR version, but the fact that it allows you to game on your actual dining table and eat and drink while playing completely changes the experience. Hopefully there's more like that with the Quest 3.
if you want eye tracking you must go for more than 1000$ headsets. you cant have everything in just 500$ price tag. and im sure meta make another headsets like quest pro with all the features for more than 1000$ to compete with apple. if you like to have all of the features wait for new meta headset or another new headsets from other companies.
@@brokensword2621 I'm aware it would cost more, but I don't think eyetracking doubles the price. I think it will come to consumer devices, I'm just not sure whether it'll happen slowly, or as soon as the Pico 5, Vision Pro and presumably the Deckard hit the market. At which point that would instantly make the Quest 3 last gen in terms of both hardware and experiences.
@@paintbrushaids Nah it's gotta be wireless and usable in multiple locations without base stations. Maybe I'd hold off if Valve announces the Deckard before I regain vision in both eyes (hopefully a couple of weeks).

I bought Viture One and it cost 600 dollars and has less functionality than the quest 3. I plan on installing the APK for ps remote play and xbox remote play onto the quest 3, as it runs android like the phones do I believe, and then using that to remote play games. Viture one is nice, but quest 3 with larger virtual screens should be much more enjoyable, and better quality.
yes its not necessary anymore with improved airlink or virtual desktop and the latest wifi 6e bandwith. the Quality and latency is fantastic to play PC VR on mobile headsets.

I think the panel is perfectly qualified to be talking about VR. The problem with the VR community, especially on TH-cam, is reviewers all tend to be hardcore VR gamers extolling the virtues of VR gaming. Most of their content is almost irrelevant to non-VR gamers. The fact is, there are exponentially more people out there who are just interested in VR technology (for other use cases) with little or no interest in VR gaming. The opinions of this panel are probably much more closely aligned with the interests of the wider population on the subject of VR than your so called 'educated' people.
