an underrated, friendly, excellent, informative, educational and entertaining channel which im super stoked to have found. volca's. brilliant, powerfull little machines certainly not made for people with fat fingers😊😊 great vid
i put some nobs on my Volka Keys (copying someone on TH-cam) so you can see what everything is turned to at a glance. 'Micro T18 Plastic Knob' just slots over the nobs already on the Keys. I went for Red, Orange, Yellow, White, Clear to split up the sections and the gold body looks good with this slightly 808 colour scheme. Only downsides are - 1. they slot on tight so you might be risking damage trying to pull the colour nobs back off. 2. You have bit less grip for turning nobs quickly if you want to record cranking something through 180 degrees as it plays
This is starting off sounding like something I'd be throwing together. Could be a good start to a Halloween album. Halloween is just around the corner after all! :D
Volca Keys is a monster... proper analog polyphony in tiny enclosure for a hundred is nowhere near to a definition of "a toy"... Moog Spectravox is closer to a toy than this one...
I think the name here failed this model. For years i was thinking that Keys is another rompler, like Volca Drum or something. Turned out it's a cheapest way to get analog polyphony! I have it and use it in techno setup coz polyphony mode really spice up regular tek sequences. One of the best pieces of gear i ever owned! Thanks for reminding us that Keys are still out there!
Typical Korg. I own an old microKorg. Also very underrated. Also much more than many people think. Also capapble of brutal sounds. I like "wolf in sheep's clothing" synths. In a way this has always been Korg's 'hidden feature'. Even as far back as the MS-20, which was capable of much larger sounds than it's size suggested. Also typical Korg: you need to spend some time with a Kirg synth, because they have often quirky user interfaces. Is the Keys the same in that way? Great video, thanks!
The Volca Keys actually is pretty straight forward! There's a few shortcuts but they're all labeled, everything else is knob per function. I think most of the hate it gets is because people perceive the Volca lineup as "toys." Thanks for watching :)

Thanks so much!
Still my favourite machine in my setup ❤
It's pretty great!
The volca line gets a lot of crap for being "toy synths." And yet I see one of the line fairly regularly in videos. :)

Reminds me of The Thing That Should Not Be by Metallica.
High praise! Thanks :)
I like how you wave your hands every time you played something....not suitable.
I think, I am doing the same.
Yeah lol I've always been very expressive with my hands
I was going to write the same comment! ❤😂
