It's a game of competition. It's 100% fair to compare every deck to the best deck. Gyarados deck was unknown until recently, and no one looked at it while it was not meta and said "BAD 😠😠😠" because unlike this deck, it wasn't. So your point is invalid.
I've got a deck for you to try. This is crazy consistent and quick. So many use Druddigon as a wall with no intention to attack with it. I made a deck which got me to 45 wins very quickly on the recent event. Druddigon doesn't NEED to attack, but it has that option if need be. 2x Druddigon 2x Tentacool/Cruel 2x Salandit (Supports as you see fit, but I run...) 2x Potion 2x Blue 2x Leaf 2x Sabrina 2X Professor 2x Pokeball
Nice, this is so close to one of my first decks, minus Blue. I thought the only downside to this one is that it was tough to survive aggressive decks and damage output isn't the best for the energy investment

Just today I beat back to back Golems with Marshadow and Hitmonlee and one aggressive Celebi/Mew ex deck. The Celebi/Mew never even got off the ground. Sure, it doesn't win every match, but which deck does? (To be clear, I don't claim this is the best deck ever. Its just fun to play off-meta stuff and then actually win with it. This particular deck just happens to be pretty consistent and I'm proud of it. )
The 1 basic variant was already used by the popular Arcanine+Charizard deck, people just didn't apply the technique to anything else. I think this is an actual working tech.
@@ripvanced trowing coins doesn't require skill. You can't even play a good giovanni or sabrina because you don't know your damage. When you don't know the result of your turn the planning is 0 and the skill is the same.
theres a reason why celebi decks have an average 40% winrate and others are higher. if you run celebi decks things are more likely to go wrong not to mention the meta shifting to cards that attack the bench its only going to get worse for celebi decks
this deck isn’t as good as it looks. i played it myself and it was difficult stalling to get celebi/venusaur online because it isn’t always a guarantee that you’ll be able to evolve your bulbasaur/snivy into stage 2s. and old amber is usually destroyed easily during ur opponent’s second turn. just gives ur opponent free points and that’s just not worth it. you’re better off playing celebi with the new exeggutor because he can at least tank the damage for awhile until your celebi gets online together with serperior. all in all this deck sucks.
S deck is honestly really interesting and probably with the right setups could work well. I think the only thing I see kind of holding it back is how slow it is
I have a really fun grappolet deck list that I personally love to use and have been using since release due to mewtwo and pikachu metas, also suprisingly good at countering the newer metas just as well. This deck and my meltan deck are my favorites. (I wrote a long thing about them but accidentally refreshed my page so its all gone, so i just put the list in the replies and called it a day)

@@doubleyou9730 Yes. But that issue is exacerbated when you only run one copy of the specific card. Serperior decks already have a chance of drawing Snivy too late. That chance goes up if you take out a Snivy.
Problem with this is if u get bulba to start and draw both celebis with pokeballs and keep drawing snivy evolutions with snivy at the bottom. Double basic is also to increase ur chance to get the basic to begin with. It's almost never so u can build 2 full stage 2 pokemon. The guaranteed basic tech won't work with more than 3 basics
A friend and I have been running 1/1/2 for mostly golem but tried other stage 2's and its been fairly consistent. You run bounce mew w/ exp to get setup.
I already play venausar butterfree deck. I will definately use this. As a suggestion i would replace old amber for caterpie. 10 more hp and u can search leaf pokemon for more consistency
I’ve thought about this similar mechanic to help combine the early aggression of Starmie with the endgame potential of Gyarados with the help of Vaporeon. 2 Starmie line 1/2 Gyarados 1/2 Vaporeon. Give you a better chance of starting Staryu/Starmie, and you can still get Gyarados/Vaporeon for the late game. If anything, I’d bring it up to 2 Magikarp or add 1 Articuno, but I’m still mulling it over.
If I could get enough cards, I like Staryu×1 Squirtle×1 Magikarp×1 Wartortle×2 Starmie×1 StarmieEx×2 Blastoise×1 BlastoiseEx×2 Gyarados×1 GyaradosEx×2 Misty×2 PokeBall×2 ProfessorOak×2 The gameplan: use your first Active Pokemon with the non-EX evolution as a shield while building up an EX evolution on the bench. Depending on Misty flips, either send out a second non-EX evolution to load up on your EX or send out two EX mons with sufficient retreat abilities. The reason this is so effective: this deck resists bricking. There are three major powerhouses capable of winning on their own, so no matter what crucial cards sit at the bottom of the deck (which happens all the time for me) I can still win. What do you think?
@ Way too many mons. I already think my idea is too Mon-heavy, and you have 4-5 more mons than I do. Gyarados and Blastoise do not do well together, and you need a lot of energy for both of them to make them work, so without good Misty luck you are never going to be able to get them both online in the same game. It’s just a little too clunky for my tastes.
@pjanderson4876 That's the beauty: Gyarados will shield BlastoiseEx, or Blastoise will shield GyaradosEx. You only need to energize one for the main game
@ They have way too high of a retreat cost to be purely tanks, and you don’t have any space for X Speeds or Leafs in your deck. If your opponent takes out a baby mon in the early game, your gameplan is cooked. Like no hate at all, I just don’t think it’s gonna work out the way you want.
@ If you’re gonna try this, take out all the Baby mons of every species and only have the EX version. Have 2/2 Starmie EX, 1/2/2 Blastoise EX and 1/2 Gyarados EX. This is only 12 mons, which is still pretty heavy, but you have 2 more spaces for Leaf, Sabrina, Giovanni, etc. I think this is inherently worse than my idea of 1/2 Vaporeon instead of Blastoise, but I could be wrong and I don’t want to dull your sparkle haha

I am still missing a second copy of serperior so I’m currently playing 2 celebi 2 caterpie and 1 of each of the serperior line and it works really nice aswell
With the new mystic slabs i think the more consistent version of this idea would be gardevior + ??? Probably alakazam or gengarEX? And then a mewEX and mewtwoEX im trying out the alakazam rn and it felt pretty good
I've been following this guy for quite a while cause he's good but humble. from 20k subs now 60+ im starting to see his real side. from humble to humble bragging. i can see the big head coming 🤣 probably after he pushes up to 100k subs. still the decks and gameplay is good though.

This made me think maybe Gard / Mewtwo ex version, but add another stage 2 psychic line. Fire deck could work as well, since the same concept made it more likely to start with Moltres ex, with only one Charmander in the deck.
Thats partially true, but the reason he is only running 1 basic pokemon of each 3 stage evo is because he only need 1 of each online. 1 serperior is enough for the passive, and only 1 venusaur in action per game, its not like he is gonna build a 2nd venusaur. Before golem drudiggon became a thing, I alr build my own version with butterfree. I alr have 2 pokemon with 3 stage, so I decided only run 1 geodude cuz im gonna build him only once per game. Went 6-0 undefeated.

You lose the appeal of only running 1 of each basic from their respective evo lines by also running Celebi. The ideology of this deck only works if you open bulba or snivvy. If you open with Celebi as your only basic, you are now potentially dead drawing 8 cards (2 ivy, 2 venu, 2 servine, and 2 serperior) with only 1 of each bulba and snivvy lost in the deck.
Hah i built a similar deck but because i only had 1 celebi and 1 serperior so i had no chocie but to slot in venusaur ex to be meatshield until celebi can carry.
It’s a “Pokémon” you can throw in the active spot as a sacrifice if you need a filler turn, but since it’s not actually a Pokémon you’ll never draw it in your opening hand as the guaranteed basic Pokémon you’ll always have
I dunno man. After finally trying TCG lve, I can see why folks are talking smack about pocket. It’s to watered down and and RNG based. It was meant for collecting and that’s about it. Still a fun app tho. Just won’t be able to get a good competitive game with how it’s configured.
Best thing about Pocket is that you can make anything work in the ladder. It could differ in a tournament setting though?

I have a caterpie venisaur deck where I only have one of each so I can consistently get them out of the deck with find a friend.
