When me and my class first saw him, we said “ice king get out of our movie!” Yes we were 4th graders but can you blame us, after we have seen ice king and now the winter warlock, we had to make the joke
Funnily enough I saw the winter warlock before I saw the ice king, also my family has the dvds of these stop motion movies, except the snow and heat miser one
great lines, amazing (i'm not such a loser after all!") but no SONG? "put one foot in front of the other" is one of the all-time great pieces of 70s pop art!!
Yes! I always related to the warlock. He was my favorite even as a child. Also, one foot in front of the other is the most amazing song. I'm 38 and I still enjoy listening to it.
I never quite understood the whole flickering pupils thing Rankin bass liked to do like there at 2:38, it always struck me as jarring and strange looking like some sort of animation mistake.
You mean the drunk from the 1945 movie starring Judy Garland and Robert Walker, _The Clock_ ? Because the Winter Warlock is played by the same actor, Keenan Wynn.
There’s just something about these old cartoon windy snowstorm effects that mixed with that generic wind sound just feels cold and windy and ominous.
It teaches you "MORALS, KINDNESS,AND SHOWS THAT WITH KINDNESS A PERSON CAN REALLY BE TOUCHED", WHICH YOU APPARENTLY YOU KNOW NOTHING ABOUT!!!
Even years later this scene still makes my heart melt. All any of us want is some love and understanding.
This brought tears to my eyes tonight from 52 YEARS ago when l was 7
Winter starts out terrifying but he becomes a miracle after his heart melts
Winter wasn't such a bad guy after all.
A true friend was all he needed. As a hermit myself I must say having the one friend I have truly did melt my heart of ice
@@CannedShrimpI'm surprised he never gotten any more backstory other than he's just an asshole wizard who lives in the forest.

Omg he was probably my favorite from his movie when I was little
I gotta say, Rankin/Bass sure knew how to design menacing-looking villains
Burger meister Meisterburger is the real villain
Yep
Amazing what a simple act of can do isn’t it? 🥰
Oh my god he scared me so much when i was a kid
Same same!
This movie, particularly the Warlock, is my annual spiritual reawakening. Can’t start a new year without it ❤
thank you so much. I watch this while I scheme
You bet! :-)
Even as an adult, this guy could still give you goosebumps sometimes.

I, myself. Then he got the choo-choo, and he wasn't so scary then. Gahsh, I love that scene.
Cold Saruman
Keenan Wynn gave a great voice performance in this.

I love this guy
Is it just you and me in the wreckage of the world?

RIP Keenan Wynn (7/27/1916 - 10/14/1986), Francis Xavier Aloysius James Jeremiah.
He's just like me fr fr.

Loved Kenan Wynn's uptight NY accent in this movie.
Winter Warlock would scare me sometimes
RIP Kennan Wynn
When i saw this as a kid in the 70s he scared the daylights out of me him and the snowbeast monster in Rudolph the red nosed reindeer 😮😊

Dang it gets me every year this specials on
0:20 This scene has haunted my dreams since I was 5.
Wow, he’s got a huge frame.
0:27 & 0:41 my favorite scene
And that snowball is why we don't do that dang elf on the shelf.
Wow, he’s huge.

Put 1 foot in front of the other
Scary
Anyone agree that he sounds like the town drunk?

He gave me the creeps as a kid
After befriending Kris, he gained his name Winter, right?
How is this a Christmas Special? There is 0 mention of Christ.
Because the main character is santa claus
Not true. It mentions baby Jesus and the wise men giving gifts towards the end of the movie. It's the very reason Kris Kringle gives.
"Oh, please... let me have... just a little magic..."
@@ESolo The real magic is Christ - his sacrifice to save all people.
@@fjccommish Why, yes. Even wizards bow down to Jesus.
