- Looking at Robert Welsh x Blend Bunny, Divination Collection and deciding if I'll pick anything up.
Full disclosure - I am a Robert Welsh fan!

I'm definitely picking this one up. Those jewel colors and shimmer/duo's look fantastic.
When I tell you I went back and forth for a whole week... I know I said shop in the video but I changed my mind at least 6 times between filming and actually picking it up! 😂
I love the grey and pinky-mauve rows and adore shimmers, but I was not expecting essentially a rainbow palette. Coming on the heels of the Ellis Atlantis and Little Miss She Never Misses collabs, this just doesn't feel as special as I'd hoped it would be. Since I do very much like and support Robert's content and Blend Bunny has amazing formulas, I may pick this up if the brand has holiday sales. Am trying to be more conscientious about purchases, though, and it's hard to justify another rainbow-ish palette purchase.
This is how I feel now I've really thought about it. You see that moment where I first see the palette? That flash of disappointment was "oh, it's a muted rainbow palette" and it's exactly as you said, this was not what I had been expecting considering the latest 2 collabs. I expected more of a colour story like Lure, Machina and Longing - something more curated. It's a shame and I may change my mind about picking it up (despite enjoying the BB formula and wanting to support Robert) by the time it drops on Glisten.
@@just_jem1 A lot of creators I follow are feeling the same way about it. It makes me sad for Robert but I'm still hoping it sells well for him and Maggie (Blend Bunny). I was also hoping this would have an early UK and EU release because Robert has such a large base outside of the US. I do appreciate that he collab'd with a true indie brand, though, when I think he could have done just as well, if not better, launching his own brand (like Wayne Goss) or working with a more mass market company.
Machina and Sickly Sweet had Divination as their baby. I like it because i like Robert too, not sure neeed it though already having blend bunnies other pallets💜
I'm definitely more drawn to it because I like Robert and I'm really not sure I'd have looked twice at it otherwise 🤔
I only have 3 BB palettes so far but if I were someone who had Blends, Primal, Surge and the two previous collabs, this would be a skip for me. Even now I'm going back and forth on it! 🙈
I didn't know why I wasn't keen on it, but when you weren't keen on the top row I covered it and thought, oh that's nice. It totally threw me off!
I think I have too many things on my list to grab it through, and it might be limited edition?
2 cosmic and 2 Arttitude palettes before the end of the year...
This is why I am going back and forth on this. I know I said "shop" in the video but should I be saving my coins for Cosmic and Arttitude instead? 🤷🏾♀️
We're starting to see sneak peaks of Arttitude now but nothing yet from Cosmic which is odd if 1 palette is meant to be a Halloween launch 🎃
I'm drawn to the last three deepest columns in this palette. Importing to South Africa is frightfully expensive, that's the main reason i haven't bought anything from BB yet. I totally get their signature rainbow format but...they're too attached to it at this point as you said in your danidarkowitz palette review. I love Robert too but i'll wait till he releases a much more purple-heavy palette.
After the collabs with Ellis and Taj, this is really not what I expected Robert's collab to be and I really hoped his palette would buck the rainbow and/or gradient trend and if BB insisted on a gradient layout, something with more of an actual colour story. I don't think people would have minded 2 full purple rows/columns in a Robert collab, probably would have expected it in fact!
Depending on what you already own, I would probably recommend Longing over this as a first BB palette. I dread to think how much shipping and taxes etc to you must be though 😱
@just_jem1 The shipping alone is 73 pounds, so it's a hell no from me 🤣
It’s very cute. I will probably pick it up when there is a sale but I like how the format is slightly different. I hope these shimmers are like the ones in Longing and the Little Miss palette. This one I think will be more interesting when you start creating looks than just when it’s swatched. I feel like it will be great to use with other palettes like the Little Miss or even Longing or even some older palettes like Blends. I’m a Blend Bunny fan and I also enjoy Robert immensely. If I didn’t have the earlier blend Bunny palettes (Blend, Surge, Primal), I would have gotten that big Ellis palette.
I think a lot of people who, like you, have Blends, Primal and Surge are the ones more likely to skip the collabs from this year. One thing I will say about Robert's palette is that the tones are more muted. This doesn't do it justice in pictures of the palette as it looks a bit washed out but it definitely appeals more swatched out. I also think the bottom 2 rows make it that little bit more versatile than Taj's palette and I prefer that it's more compact than Ellis' palette.

Heya Jem, I'm here from The Conger Line (that's what I call Erica Conger's TH-cam channel) and I have to agree with you. This was a bit of a disappointment out of the gate for me. I feel like if Blend Bunny had held off of releasing either the Ellis Atlantis or DaniDarkowitz collabs or both, this colour story would have stood out more. I just feel like those other two palettes took the wind out of this palette's sails. Oh yes, I'm still getting it as well, but still.... xox
100% agree. I almost wish Robert's came out next year so it wasn't so close and easy to compare. I CAN see how it's different but I think a lot of people won't see or appreciate the fact this is a more muted/cool toned curation. I only saw it when I really went back and studied all 3 palettes!
I've ordered it and it should hopefully arrive midweek.
@@just_jem1 I agree with a next year release! TBH, I was very impressed that BB teamed up with Ellis Atlantis, and as a BPerfect/Carnival fan, I was disappointed in how similar their palette was to one of Stacey Marie's.. Still, I got it cuz it was a good palette. I LOVED the richness of Danidarkowitz' palette but felt it was too close to Ellis's for people to take real notice. Also, I feel like Ellis's celebrity eclipsed Little Miss "She Never Misses". I would have gone with Danidarkowitz first, Ellis for Halloween and then launched Robert's in the spring. Or at the very earliest, Christmas/ New Year's. But they didn't ask us, did they? LOL xox

I bought Machina for that one blue shade. Obviously I'm not good at sound decision making

yeah i think they’ve maybe stuck too much to the same format and layout in their palettes lately, i wish they’d step more outside the box especially with collabs and do something a bit more curated and unexpected. the last palette that really tempted me was the longing palette and i am hoping to get that one soon
@@eechoooooo the last one that sparked something for me was the grunge one or the pastel looking one but I didn’t pick either of those up

It's because they've been so samey. If they are going to keep doing gradient palettes, the colour stories need to be more curated. They can't keep churning out rainbow variations 🤷🏾♀️
They could've removed the top two rows and it would've been more on theme. Just looks like all other BB palettes with more shimmers
People who are collectors of BB palettes will be getting frustrated I'm sure. If I had picked up one or, for some reason, both the previous collabs, I couldn't justify this one.
just stumbled upon this video and i have to say the shimmers look very appealing to me but i do wish blend bunny did more curated color schemes for their collabs rather than doing variations of rainbow palettes. i think the longing and sickly sweet palettes are great examples of curated color stories that they’ve done!
this format of gradients/monochrome rows has gotten a bit repetitive for me. this is stunning if you don’t have any other blend bunny palettes but for me it’s a pass because it’s not very visually intriguing to me
I would imagine it's a skip for a lot of Blend Bunny fans but something a lot of Robert fans will get.
I'm actually quite new to Blend Bunny and only have Lure, Machina and Longing. Plus I like Robert so it's on the way!

I was definitely a bit deflated by the reveal and I've gone back and forth about grabbing it since I filmed this but I'm sure I'll probably end up grabbing it. Totally understand why many would skip it though.
