    I'm pre-diabetic, so trying to cut back on carbs & sugar. Quinoa is a good choice for that, so looking forward to trying. Not fond of sweet potatoes, tho. Substitute carrots? Maybe add with lentils so they cook enough? Thx for posting AND ESPECIALLY for keeping the video SO simple & easy to watch, not a lot of extraneous chatter and music that's easy on the ears. • @FoodImpromptu
      @FoodImpromptu  2 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      Definitely my go to meal too! So Glad you liked the combo. Quinoa was cooked well. One has to be careful not to over cook it because quinoa continues to cook and absorb water even after turning of the stove and in no time can get really mushy - unless that’s the preference :)

    Snowed in here and I left my food preps at work so I made this with a few improvisations. I substituted the red lentils for green, the broccoli for roasted brussel sprouts, the lemon for lime and added cracked peppercorn. It didn't turn out quite as colorful but it is a hot, flavorful and nourishing Khichdi nonetheless.

    What an amazing recipe! And I have all the ingredients right now so I can make it this weekend! This is such good luck, coming across this beautiful recipe at this time. I love all the flavours it uses. Thank you so much for sharing it with us. Although I am currently unsubscribing from many TH-cam channels, I am not leaving this one!
    PS I would love to know how to pronounce "Khichdi", though! And may I ask, what would you recommend serving this with, if anything? It already has sweet potato and quinoa in it, so there are carbs in the dish and I guess it is a one-pot dish that maybe needs no accompaniment? Please say! Thank you.

    • @kairos116
      @kairos116 2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      I will recommend some yogurt with it to balance out spices. It’s pronounced as “Khee-cha-dee”. We usually make it when we’re sick or upset stomach( less spices in that case) or when we just don’t have appetite for heavy meal. It’s a really healthy protein rich diet and also good for the kids.
