    Hi Kaye , I would definitely get a tumble dryer separate to your washer . The ease and the way they dry and fluff towels is something else . You will love it . Just wanted to say I loved your cottage but you are making your new home so beautiful I am soooooooo Happy for you and your family . I just want to wish you the most wonderful Christmas with your family and may the New year deliver all your dreams and a life full of happiness and good health xxxxx

    Don’t get a combined washer/ dryer. We had one admittedly sometime ago. But it didn’t dry as well as a separate one.
    And there are times when I have bedding in the dryer and a load of washing on at the same time.
    Lovely vlog, 🌿 beautiful tree 🎄

    Absolutely love Harlow Carr... depending how far away you are, it could be worth joining in a year or 2 as their play areas are fabtastic and they have family/kid events throughout the year. We've spent many or an hour (or day in summer) enjoying the fab play areas, a picnic, Betty's treats and all the space for the kids to run around! We live around 25 min drive away and even go in Winter for an hour or so to get the kids running around.

    We recently got a tumble dryer, (separate from washing machine), and I have a 1.5yo. IT HAS CHANGED MY LIFE ❤ I don't know how I lived without it for so many years! Please, please get one. You can't believe how much of a help it is 😊

    I always put my washed bedding over my heated drier instead of using the cover. It still traps the hot air enough to dry all the washing well.
    I prefer this to using our drier as the bedding doesn't need ironing after.

    Oh Kay I had a washer drier and hated it, I wish I had never bought it and couldn’t wait to get rid of it, I found the clothes smelled musty. I had to save up to replace it with separate washing machine and tumble dryer. I chose to sacrifice a base unit/cupboard in the utility area, it really was worth it!

    • @audreysutherland4739

      Agreed. I can’t bear wet washing hanging in the house, taking days to thoroughly dry. Causes damp and not healthy to breathe in damp air. I love my dryer and laundry is washed and dried in dryer whilst another load washes. Very efficient and worth the investment and additional energy costs which are not as much as you’d think.

    What a lovely video Kay 🥰 Just a thought, why not get an outside line up, then, if it's a lovely crisp Winter day you'll get your big stuff like towels and duvet covers mostly dry outside, we do that and it's amazing how dry you can get your washing hung outside in the Winter then you only need to finish off on the airer in the evening and it minimises the damp air in your lovely home x

    Hi lovely vlog! You asked about washer dryers, I wouldn’t recommend them, the dryer never completely drys your clothes and you end up having to put it on for longer which takes up more electricity, separate washer and dryer are always better option in my opinion x

  • @kayalford6746
    @kayalford6746 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

    Talking about washer/dryers is not boring. It’s a genuine concern. Online reviews can be confusing. I’m in the US and we rarely have the combo type. Having side by side is convenient but does take up a lot of space. I have thought about a stacked set. For a combo one I think is fine as long as you don’t need to wash multiple loads everyday. Is the hanging rack you use heated. That would speed things alone. But with bed linens and towels a dryer would be a bonus.

    Hi Kay have to agree with most of the other comments, it’s well worth getting a separate dryer, we had a washer/dryer when we lived in the UK and it was not the best, clothes still did not get super dry. I invested in a separate dryer and washer and believe me they work so much better, can you get a stackable set in the UK they have them here then you won’t have to sacrifice a cupboard. Clothes come out of a stand alone dryer so dry you can wear them straight away if you wanted to that’s how good they are, invest in one you won’t go wrong. Love your videos cheers Wendy 🇨🇦

    I’ve just replaced my washer dryer with normal washing machine as that was a big mistake to get it in first place. To wash and dry one load you need over 5 hrs and it’s still dump and have to put it up to dry completely. Not recommend it. If you have space separate dryer is great apparently but I have no space for one. Dehumidifier saves my life!

    I have the Samsung washer dryer and can recommend. If you have space always best to get separate but I don’t have the space. I only really use for towels even in summer I put them in for 30 mins to fluff them up as well as line dry. I use the hanger racks over the stair bannister for bedding and it’s dry in a day.

    Hello Kay, l put my washer dryer in the garage, as l only really use it for towels and bedding, so don’t have to go out there very often and l don’t lose a cupboard in the kitchen . Definitely wouldn’t get a washer/dryer as it would be so annoying to wait to put a second load of washing in.

    Hi Kay, definetly sacrifice cupboard space for a separate dryer. Ive had combined machines in the past and they are a complete waste of money. Perhaps it was just bad luck on my side but the washer/dryer always ended up breaking down and costing a fortune in repairs. Also, if you can, peg your bedding and washing outside. I live in Scotland, so unless it's raining, my washing is always blowing around on my washing line. It has such a lovely smell when you bring it in, especially if it's been a chillier day, and if you do need to dry your things inside afterwards, it most definitely cuts the dryer time down.
    Lovely video, Kay, my Christmas tree is almost identical to yours, i have the same colour theme and similar baubles!😂

      My family in scotland always air dried. My mum actually preferred this way, with the fresh air. Only thing I realised when using dryers in uni was time management was easier with dryer as it drys quicker and warmer. But air drying works just as well. Sometimes better since its not got steam to dampen if sat for a bit.

    With drying if the paths are dry I still hang my washing out, some days it dries wonderfully others it just takes the damp out. Although one year I was sooooo cold my towels and bedding were frozen 😅 I'd say a separate tumble dryer that way you can still use your washing machine, yes you lose cupboard space but you have loads of storage in your house xx

    We have a really good washer dryer. I’ve had bad ones before though. Ours is a Samsung. As long as you don’t ram it full it’s fab. I don’t have space for separate. I dried my super king heavy linen duvet cover in it tonight in an hour

  • @emilysmith2784
    @emilysmith2784 หลายเดือนก่อน

    Don’t do it!!! We got a washer dryer as we only had one gap in the kitchen and it was such a waste. The washer part was fine but the dryer would take 8-10 hours to dry a load so washing one load would literally take ALL day. Then after about a year the dryer part just broke. It wouldn’t dry even the smallest load so eventually we bought a separate dryer and it lived under our dining room table until we moved to a house with 2 gaps. As for drying bedding I have the same issue so what I do is wash everything together but then I pop the duvet cover on an airer while the bottom sheet and pillow cases go in the tumble dryer and once dry the duvet cover goes in the tumble dryer to finish off. I’d love to hang them outside in summer but our neighbours on both sides smoke so our garden just always stinks 😢.

    Boring comment alert BUT… have you a launderette anywhere nearby? I do all my washing at home and take it in the big blue Ikea bags to the self service launderette. For about £4/5 I can dry 4/5 loads in half an hour tops. I do this all winter when I can’t peg out. It’s so much better than having the clothes horse up all the time!

    I couldn't live without a dryer, we had Miele in one of our rented apartment .
    It has a cold short programme, so when I wanted to hang my washing outside on a nice day, I would just put it on cold to catch the pet hair 😅. This apartment didn't have one so we bought used one Bosch (for only about 30€) its fine, but it doesn't have much programs unfortunately. And I have noticed that it's shrinking clothes a bit more recently, after 5 years.
    The next one, after we move, will probably be the new Electrolux, because it's super gentle to clothes.
    If you decide to buy one, make sure It has a heat pump, they are more efficient, more gentle and your electricity bill is not going to be huge😅. They are a bit slower, but it's worth it.

    Please don’t get a washer dryer. All the time it’s drying you can’t be washing. You will have a constant backlog and always be waiting for something to finish. I get your not wanting to sacrifice cupboard space. In the absence of a sizeable utility room put a tumbler in you ur shed/summerhouse. Finally, I found on a combined that washing always had dryer fluff on it. Not pretty,

    Never had a single unit washer-dryer that dried properly, would not recommend.

    I would HIGHLY recommend NOT getting a washer dryer, they are awful! Everyone told us not to get one, didn’t listen and now have to deal with a complete waste of money that doesn’t wash clothes properly and doesn’t dry it either so it’s a waste of time

    Never been impressed with washer dryers
    I personally think a separate dryer works better for me and the family xxx

    Talking about washer/dryers is not boring. It’s a genuine concern. Online reviews can be confusing. I’m in the US and we rarely have the combo type. Having side by side is convenient but does take up a lot of space. I have thought about a stacked set. For a combo one I think is fine as long as you don’t need to wash multiple loads everyday. Is the hanging rack you use heated. That would speed things alone. But with bed linens and towels a dryer would be a bonus.
