One of my Patrons requested this project! I made an ice box using popsicle sticks & other junk. Even if you don't plan to make an ice box, there are plenty of fun techniques you can apply to other projects.
You can buy the Chrysnbon ice box kit here from my favorite dollhouse store, Earth & Tree Miniatures:
earthntree.com...
My fave things:
2 oz bottle of Diamond Glaze
amzn.to/3zmMLR1
8 oz bottle of Diamond Glaze
amzn.to/3zpiMbm
Double-sided flooring tape
amzn.to/423tJwL
Mini Clamps
amzn.to/3vBdc6U
Heat gun- I use mine to quickly dry paint, soften the glue to dismantle furniture and quickly cure polymer clay without an oven. Gets a lot hotter than a hair dryer.
amzn.to/3YBAIcH
Craft heat gun that doesn't get as hot as mine
amzn.to/3ZZ5wWe
Nail Studs- I like these because there are a variety of sizes in silver and brass
amzn.to/3JEtJMd
For under $10, you get a variety of jump rings, lobster clasps and pliers
amzn.to/3Zu7sGd
Paper fasteners & 1/8" hole punch
amzn.to/3O5nYI6
11 piece clay tool set for $10
amzn.to/4bLvW49
I have lots of projects planned ranging from abandoned miniatures, furniture makeovers, dioramas, accessories, kits and Dollhouse Miniatures in multiple scales. I'm also working on a large Harry Potter build in 1" scale. I'm making the Gryffindor Common Room from scratch.

I'm piggy backing off your comment, Shyra, because sometimes TH-cam does funny things, and not letting me comment is one of them!
Love the refrigerator! You add so much detail to all of your miniatures. I don't think I could even think of them. Anyway, it looks fantastic.
Can you tell me where you got the gold stuff (can't remember what it's called) that you used for the hinges and latches?
Thank you, as always, for sharing your talents!
I was going to ask about this 😂 thank you
I absolutely love all of your videos! You are extremely creative and yoy always make me laugh!
Where do you buy the fine tip bottles you use for glue?
I know I’ve said this before, but I really enjoy your delivery style. Not only are you extremely talented, your videos always make me smile. Thanks for sharing.
Very nice!!!
Well said, I always end up saying the same thing
Thank you!
Thank you 😊
I appreciate that so much. I love feeling like I brighten someone's day.
Your ingenuity is my favorite part of your videos. Using a Lego as a carpenter square is genius and funny 🤣. Can't wait to see what you make next. You definitely inspire me.
I got the idea from Little Gretchen's Workshop. She uses Dollar Tree "Legos"
I am a Queen City Minis Patreon Member and it’s great. I made a special request on Patreon two weeks ago if Shyra would show us how to make this item because I couldn’t find it anywhere. She’s been so kind and wow what a wonderful work of art she’s created!
Well done Queen City Minis and Shyra, thank you 💐
Thank you so much for the request! I never would've made this on my own. I had a lot of fun (and lost my mind a bit over the hinges...) Mostly had fun!
I adore your humor❤️
Thanks so much 😊
Using the files for the decorative cut outs is brilliant. Nice project.
Thank you very much! It's so much faster and easier than cutting with a craft knife.
Just incredible! You are so talented and so generous with your talents! Thank you! Kathleen
Thank you so much, Kathleen!
This is AWESOME 👏
I agree it didn’t need the extra horizontal side stick pieces.
Yes! Thank you! I was so torn about that.
Beautiful, and the icecube is just perfect ❤
Thank you! They're so pretty.
Great job! I'm really impressed with how the ice box turned out. One can always tell when you are watching a professional by the way the opps are corrected. In my opinion, resanding and applying more varnish to where the glue was, is one of the signs of a professional. I hope you have plenty of room to display your miniatures in your new place. It would be nice, if one day, you could do a video, showing all the miniature pieces you have made. Like all great artists, you need to do a show! I love your work.
Thank you so much! I'd love to display and show off what I've made.
That's a good idea!I would love to see them too. ❤
It turned out AMAZING! And your cuts are so precise it's insane (especially the little curved parts at the base 🤯) 👏👏👏👏
Thank you so much! My motto is to cut imprecisely, then sand 😆
@@queencityminishahahaahah 😂😂😂😂
love the way you show your mistake and re do it in many way that you think it work . I learn new thing .thank you so much
You are so welcome!
Another amazing project. I love how you just get down to it. That’s just one of the many reasons why I keep watching you. Thank you 💐
Thanks so much 😊
You are amazing. "nuff said.
Thank you so much!
Everything you create is absolutely brilliant 🥰
Thanks so much 😊
Yet another project that looks amazing!
Aww thanks :)
Turned out super precious !🍀
Thank you! 😊
That's so cool, nostalgia 😁 little house on the prairie ❤
Awww. True!
Another winner! I always get inspired to go make something by watching your videos.
Yay! Thank you! Go make some minis
Shyra… once again ya’ did it…informative, educational and with a bit of humor! You are one truly talented lady and so glad I found your videos. Hugs, Diane
Thank you so much! Thank you for watching 🙂
You have amazing skills I love this project thank you for the step buy step on this .
Thanks so much 😊
You amaze me with your creativity! I love watching your videos. I love old ice boxes and your miniature one is perfect! Thanks for sharing your joy with us!
Fabulous! Thank you!
You are so welcome!
What a mini masterpiece! Your attention to detail is incredible! And you're fearless when it comes to improvising and knowing how to make what you need to add every detail! Honestly, I could watch you all day❤ Anything I've seen you create from scratch is on par or better than items included in kits😮😮 so impressive is your talent😊👍
Thank you very much! I appreciate that 😊
Great job, love everything you have made so far. Have a wonderful day.
Thanks so much 😊
Those clamps ate so cute and perfect!
They are! My partner got them for me for Christmas. He knows me well.
@@queencityminis You made such a beautiful little ice box😍 I love the frost detail 👍👍👍
Loved the results of this one! Your struggle with the hinges felt very real😳I am so glad you went for the fabric but I know that feeling of ...ugh... all that work and I have to pull it all out!
Seriously! This is why people make pin hinges for miniatures. At least it eventually worked out. Sometimes things go sideways and never get back on track.
That turned out amazing. I like how the rub n buff toned down the gold hinges. It all looks so realistic. Have a great weekend.
It was a subtle effect, but it did help tone them down.
Impressed with your design skills! Hope to see more furniture tutorials!
This is my first in 1:12, but it won't be my last. The first furniture I ever made was the set of side tables in 1:24 scale for Bentley House Minis.
Love the hinges, great idea 👍~Lesley
Thanks so much! 😊 They really make the piece
That's so clever and authentic looking--and the hinge and handle details really finish it off beautifully.
Thank you very much! I'm beyond ecstatic with the Dresden foil hinges.
Beautiful work, I liked it very much 🎉
Beautiful! I love how you made the faux metal hinges, very creative!
Thank you! 😊
That turned out fabulous! I love how you used the Dresden for the hinges, it looks perfect. It never ceases to amaze me all the normal things we can use to make miniatures and faux this and that. I agree too about the side panel as well. You have a tendency to talk negatively about your work and all these “so called mistakes”you make, but to be honest, you REALLY are a GREAT artist!! You can think outside the box, come up with many alternatives when something doesn’t work one way or another. And mistakes….no such thing. 😉 They are creative opportunities to make an art piece even better and you do that all the time. You are also a wonderful teacher. You explain things clearly and to the point, no excessive talking or loud music that covers your voice, etc. I truly love watching each and everyone of your videos for these reasons and more, so give yourself some more credit and love when it comes to your art because you totally deserve it. Just read what others have said here as well. We ALL love your work. Ok, novel is over, but I just wanted you to know all this and how much I appreciate all your hard work. ♥️🙏🏼
Thank you so much! I am thrilled with the Dresden hardware. It couldn't be more perfect. Thanks for watching!
This is gorgeous and I love how you improvise using everyday items! Thanks for sharing.
You are so welcome! Making minis out of everyday items and trash is my favorite thing.
Hi Shyra, Well done. You did a great job. Cheers Robyn
Thank you! 😊
Wow! It turned out amazing! You really think of everything. Love the ice lol!
Thanks so much! 😊
What a brilliant idea, gorgeous ice box🥰💖
Thanks so much 😊
It turned out really nice!!
Thank you 😊
Absolutely phenomenal Shyra! I think this has to be one of the best miniature antique ice boxes I've seen made! I'm also glad to see I'm not the only one who is apparently a stranger to the secrets of getting the hinges perfectly aligned lol...there is always one trouble maker in the bunch!
Wow, thank you! I hear you! Hinges are a damn nightmare.
Love your filed trim design
Thank you! The idea just came to me. It was so fast and easy.
Beautiful work
Thank you very much!
This came out really good Shyra! You are truly talented!🤗
Thank you so much 🤗
I love your candor "there are some secrets for properly attaching tiny hinges and apparently I don't know them" Love the project, love the laugh!
Thanks so much! Those damn hinges shortened my life.
The trim is really nice, it came out great!
Thank you!
You have the best ideas! Thanks!
You are so welcome!
Absolutely brilliant! I love your humor as you create…just lovely ✌️🤍
Thank you so much 😁
WOW! Great job!
Thank you!
That's amazing, and looks beautiful ❤
Thank you!
That turned out amazing! I have that Chrysenbon kit. Yours looks like the real deal! ❤
Thanks so much!
Excellent! Thanks for sharing.
My pleasure!
Wonderful!!
Thanks 😊
Looks just like a real antique icebox. Awesome job. Each detail added to the authenticity. 😊❤
Thanks so much! 😊
This is so coool! The hinges!!! I can’t take it. Idk why I love your videos best of all.
Thank you so much!!
This is a true master piece❤
Thank you so much 😊
This is brilliant!! I love it!!
Thank you 😊
These old ice boxes would be insulated with cork. Having seen on up close, I can say that you got the internal dimensions correct. Great job.
Thanks for the info! That's good to know.
I love it ! Thank you.
Glad you like it!
Hello ! I'm always so happy to watch your miniaturistic smartness. Your videos are like miniature jewells to me. Thank you for your tips and the way you tell your stories for making miniatures. Love it. Hope to meet you in real life one day 🙃
Thank you very much! It's my pleasure
I am starting to go down the miniature rabbit hole. I started with a small book nook kit and now I am starting to collect and save random things to start making my own miniatures. You inspire me so much since you creat items out of everyday things.
Thank you so much! You have no idea how much it means to me to hear that. Making miniatures is such a joy. I love spreading the passion for the hobby around.
Absolutely adorable ! U really are such a good miniaturist ❤❤
Thank you!
This turned out cute. Love what can be done with popsicle sticks and some glue. My Granny made some really nice lamps out of them. I watched her do it and they were actually gorgeous too. Have a wonderful day
That sounds great!
THIS WAS EXCELLENT!!!! YES LET'S ALL ADMIRE THOSE SMOOTH CORNERS!!! Using the wood trim really adding a great detail and the foam core for the insulation was EPIC!!! I LOVE HOW YOU USED the laser scraps on the inside! You were very courageous to use the tiny nails on the hinges! I LOVED EVERY bit of this VIDEO! BRAVO!!!!
Thank you very much! I got the idea of using the LEGO as a square from you.
@@queencityminis You did a Beautiful job! Those legos are great! Glean from what my grandsons leave on the floor after a visit with Granny😄!
Cool as always 👍
Thanks again!
Beautiful! you add so many extra little details that I would have never thought of, like the drip tray at the bottom or the ice and frost inside. The cube was my favorite!
Using a reference image is so helpful when it comes to details.
Looks Great! Love those little blue clamps, they are quite adorable.😊 I wish I had even just 1/4 of your patience! 🤪 I would have lost it on those wheels.
Thank you! 😊 I'm not known for my patience, that's for sure.
NICE!❤
Glad you like it!
This is awesome. I really enjoy watching and learning from you. And tour voice is kinda soothing. ❤.
I'm so glad! Thank you 😊
That’s a good trick with the square kit scraps
Thank you! It's such an easy way to square things up.
You crack me up😊 and l love your work.
I'm so glad!
Very cute, your attention to detail is amazing ❤
Thank you so much!
What a great siscor!
Thank you!
This video has so many mind blowing moments. I'm going to have to rewatch a couple of times. If anyone does have issues with the eyeballing of the miter cut, there are 45 degree angles marked on most healing mats. ❤️
Good point! Thank you
This is amazing Shyra, I have the Chrysnbon one and yours is way better❤
I do really love how it turned out! Thank you
Your details are mind blowing! 🤯 ❤
Thank you so much 😀
Thanks!
Thank you so much! I really appreciate that :)
Beautiful. Thanks for sharing
My pleasure 😊
You must have accidentally packed away your super-sharp scissors. It's a miracle you were able to complete this project at all! Well done!
Hahaha yes!
Fantastic! I will be needing one for a future project.
Good luck!
❤❤❤
Absolutely loved this, it turned out so well. The curse of the mini hinges though, i used some on a project and it too went a little wrong, i have learned my lesson and for now am staying away from them 😂
Absolutely! I'm doing fabric hinges or pin hinges from now on. Never again.
I wanne try making one 😊 thank you so much for the tutorial video
You’re welcome 😊
That’s fantastic. I love your vids. Thanks for sharing all these hints and tips. 😊 x
You are so welcome!
Love this so much!! I’d love to see your organization of all your supplies- you seem to have one of everything 🤣 my space is a disaster!
I have some behind the scenes storage on my Patreon. I'll make a video showing how I organize everything when I move.
I love this piece, so many great details! PS, I have never successfully used those hinges either 😂
Right?! What a damn nightmare. Never again, I'm thinking.
This is beautiful! I always learn something and you always make me laugh and I appreciate that so much! (I'm going to experiment with fabric softener on fabric + glue to see if draping works...holding the fabric in a shape without being crusty hard.)
That's so interesting! I'd love to know how that works.
The ice box is fabulous, and don’t worry about those hinges I have the same problem lol (never again 😅) you’re going to see me struggling in a couple of weeks when I post how I tried miserably to put the doors in😅 what a nightmare that was, I’m very stubborn, and I insisted on getting it right, didn’t turn out like I wanted 😂.
Oh know! This is why there are always pin hinges for mini doors.
Wow! 😍 You nailed it, my friend!👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽 it's a masterpiece!!
You are really getting to know that Antique wax. It is super forgiving, and you definitely can cover the glue marks. I need to order more. My bottle is coming to an end. Lol
I loved this. The hinges are perfect. I'm so bad at metal hinges and need to know those secrets as well.
The casters are amazing. Great video!❤🥰
Thank you so much 😀 I can't even imagine running out since a little goes so far. I think I knew I'd love it bc I bought a large bottle as well. They better not ever stop making it.
@queencityminis yes I think I have had mine for 2-3 years, using it regularly.
Oh, I know. I hate when that happens, and it happens often with grocery items..lol You find something really good that you love next thing you know, it's discontinued 🤣
Aw dang, I was really hope you might have some secrets of tiny metal hinges, because I’m running into a similar problem with doors and small metal hinges (but with screws instead of nails).hopefully someone out there has a good solution, but I love the way you handled it here.
Ugh idk! I'm doing pin hinges and fabric hinges from now on. Forget real hinges.
Just an idea because I know u said in one of ur videos that u had a pair of miter shears that did not have a replaceable blade and urs were dull and that u hate throwing anything away. I recently found at my sewing/craft store a little sharpener for scissors (made by Fiskars). It just looks a bit like a ceramic bar u rub on scissors and it sharpens them amazingly! So just thought that might help u fix ur dull set. 😊
Thanks so much!
Esta precioso
Thank you 😊
The details! They're so good!
Do you know what you'd be excellent at? Designing mini's like Crysnbon. You are so good at it! That icebox is crazy good!
Wow, thank you!
😍
I have also used those stupid tiny hinges too! They took forever to install and didn't work! I removed them. 😅
They're a damn nightmare! What's the secret?
Hinges are my worst nemesis, too. 😂😑
So irritating! There's an hour of my life I'll never get back.
so cute! I would love to get started right now and build one like that. But I'm stuck in a papercraft project right now😅. Why don't you use the Miter scissors for the 45 degree angle?
The blades are too thick. It's makes the cut inaccurate. It's easier for me to use a craft knife.
Brilliant! I have Legos I could use! Also I'm nosey and I need to know why just one thumb painted? 😂I need the story ! Thank you again for your content
th-cam.com/video/ghwUnwEqpvA/w-d-xo.htmlsi=LO5Q69BWuips5VV3
I literally painted one thumbnail for the thumbnail photo for this TH-cam video 😆 I'm such a fraud.
@@queencityminis 😆😂😆
I’m so glad I found your channel!! I have a really hard time coming up with ideas on my own and a lot of other people I watch just buy accessories and I find scavenging and making my own so much more fun and you give me so many ideas!! After watching your Q&A video, I found out we are very close to each other; I live just over the state line in New Hampshire and I always hear you saying you got mini things at dollar store but I have yet to find any minis at all the Dollar Trees I have visited so do you know the location of the Dollar stores you know have them??
Thank you!
I've found minis in the Dollar Tree in Nashua & several in Massachusetts. Most of them carry the Greenbrier furniture.
Oh, you should definitely just forget about the Dollar Tree and visit Earth & Tree Miniatures in Amherst, NH. It's the best dollhouse store in the world, IMHO. The prices are incredible.
I’ve hit every dollar tree in Nashua, Hudson and Pelham and haven’t found a single mini. I’ve driven past Earth n Tree twice already but have gone a little crazy spending for minis lately so I’ve resisted going in because from the looks of the website I’m certain I could not control myself inside there lol my birthday is coming and I’ve been dropping hints about those laser cutting machines to my boyfriend already haha I tend to be a bit obsessive whenever I find a hobby I like. I’ve been bingeing your videos and decide to start a new project about every third video I watch
This is so cool, I have a cabinet that I can't figure out how to connect the doors, so this was super helpful.
I really need to go to Earth and Tree, it's only like a half hour from me... how are the prices?
The prices are incredible! They've been in business for 30 years. I suspect they haven't increased their prices much. I know people who buy from them and resell on eBay. Their prices rival online prices, which is rare from a brick & mortar store.
@@queencityminis cool! I’ll have to make a trip over. Thanks!
The liner for the ice would have been zinc or tin.
Ah, that makes sense
