Hi Sophie, could you kindly let us know what is this beautiful Tone? :> I suppose it's Tim Henson's tone.
Btw I love your tone Rainy Clouds on Rabea's DSP. Used it quite a lot in my recording.

If you're not messing up, you're not practicing! This is how we get better. If you get "discouraged" when you screw up - your problem is your attitude, and that will hinder your progress. Have fun with your practice sessions... before you know it, you've become pretty badass!!!

Being on facebook or youtube, sooooo many shorts are about "here are 10 exercises to do", and no one ever mentions how important it is to followup with FUN! Glad to hear you say that- Playing a song that you jam to is 90% of the fun!

Love seeing other peoples routines, I’m going to steal the alternate to economy exercise. Also really appreciate how often you show your mistakes and struggles in videos. We only ever see peoples perfect take, and we all know that’s not how it looks for 90% of our playing time. Really good for the youngsters and new players confidence to see seasoned players struggling too, may prevent them from getting frustrated and quitting.

@1:47 Sophie, try with your metronome set quite a bit higher than the targeted bar. Struggle as hard as you can through it and then reduce to the target speed. Let me know your results.

Getting the right / left hand synchronisation together is a tough one but the more you play, the better it'll get. Back when I was a teen, I'd sit on the couch watching Simpsons and try to make the practice licks / runs second nature but still pay attention to if I'm slipping up

This was great to see. Do you have a way of maintaining a repertoire of songs? I always find it's difficult when in any particular practise session you can only really work on one or two, never really sure how to keep up to scratch with a range of songs, other than just brushing up on them when required.

Yeah, if we start letting the shoulder tense it causes tension in the arm too and it's better to be more relaxed and try to have a good posture which in my case is ridiculously difficult.

Probably tough to head a band and get in practice. Morse used the game of committing to five minute of practice, usually he'd find he'd lose himself in the practice. Although he has hand problems now from his picking technique, or grinding away, so be aware of overpractice. I sometimes tell smokers they should move to smoggy LA, they'd save money on cigarettes. You played cliffs of Dover cleanly, helps to remember those things when you get bogged down in new technique. I remarked your play on cliffs of Dover to a Finnish guitarist, TH-camr Juha Aitakangas. Alot of covertunes, a couple originals. Toto's "falling inbetween", Giants " I'm a believer".I think he found it amusing when I mentioned his wild pinkie on his fret hand. Maybe check out you Brit bassist brother Charles Bethoude, ?spelling. Kind of short haired geeky but excellent player.

You need to get some neoclassical pieces under your belt. I highly suggest Michael Romeo. Yingwie malmsteen.and to really move your technical ability forward Chopin Nicola Paganini Vivaldi. You will find all the technical craziness you want to learn in these pieces of music. Then graduate to bach . I always find it strange that people look for the hardest music. But never learn the hardest music when it's right there. bach Beethoven Chopin Nicola Paganini Mozart Vivaldi O yeah Shawn lane Jason Becker. Every lick every technique can be found in their music give it a go you'll love it.

Just think of your right hand sweetie at 110 bpm. Pick a six not sequence that the left is so familiar with playing then focus on the right hand literally. Bounce your head move your body as you focus. You will feel your tight hand more. Your not feeling the right hand pick strokes. You feel the left hand quite easily because all the focus has been there. When you focus hardcore on the picking hand you will incorporate sweeps more naturally. Your brain will command your hand to emphasize lighter pick strokes that you can feel. You will find that up strokes are more powerful. Set the timer for 5 minutes set the BPM at 110. Just do muted up strokes on each string. Total time 30 minutes do it until you FEEL the difference 😘
