There was a man who knew he was going to die and told his friend this: "Make sure you put 1 million dollars into my coffin."
When the funeral happened, his wife asked "where did you get the million dollars to put into his coffin?"
The friend shrugged and said. "Well, I wrote him a check and placed it in his pocket for that amount."
This story illustrates an important point: we won't take anything with us when we die, at least materially.
“Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moths and vermin destroy, and where thieves break in and steal. But store up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where moths and vermin do not destroy, and where thieves do not break in and steal. For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also." - Matthew 6:19-21
How do we build up treasures in heaven?
It's by performing acts of Love, for the love of God. The Catholic Church gives us clear instructions, which are the spiritual and corporal works of mercy.
    The Corporal Works of Mercy:
    To feed the hungry.
To give water to the thirsty.
    To clothe the naked.
    To shelter the homeless.
    To visit the sick.
To visit the imprisoned, or ransom the captive.
    To bury the dead.
    The Spiritual Works of Mercy:
    To instruct the ignorant.
    To counsel the doubtful.
    To admonish the sinners.
To bear patiently those who wrong us.
    To forgive offenses.
    To comfort the afflicted.
To pray for the living and the dead.
Our Lord warns us that every single thing we do is recorded before the eyes of God.
"I tell you, on the Day of Judgment men will render account for every careless word they utter." (Matthew 12:36)
    &
"Also another book was opened, which is the Book of Life. And the dead were judged by what was written in the books, by what they had done.” Revelations 20:12
This also means the opposite is true. God sees us when we do acts of good.
“Behold, I come quickly; and my reward is with me, to render to every man according to his works.” (Revelations 22:12)
Jesus Christ reveals to us time and time again in the gospels that every act of trust in him, every act of love, every offering, no matter how small, He can transform into something tenfold. God gives in abundance.
He multiplied loaves and fishes, and baskets were overflowing full.
He transformed water in to wine, not just ordinary wine, but the best kind.
He did not only cure aliments, but forgave us our sins, even though we do not deserve it.
He didn't have to die for us, but he choose to purely out of love.
This reveals to us that God is generous and calls us to be like Him.
Just like Mary, the sister of Martham poured the best oils over our Lord's feet, we must also give God the best of what we have in this life.

A good, timely and gentle reminder of how great Our God is and how we don’t love Him nearly enough. Thank you:)

Good video. I got scammed and I think God allowed me to lose money because I have a hoarding and overspending issue. It hurts so bad... but I guess this detachment pruning is truly needed. I forgot that I need to store up Heavenly things and not material stuff.
