Absolutely. Big finance, corporations and banks are subsidized the socialist way, as the worker, the small business man, the unemployed and the prostitute fight each other in a game of Monopoly.
Varoufakis is among my absolute favourite economists, and I really like his intelligence and analytical skills. For that reason I love him, too, when he calls for organised movement, especially when he is intelligent and must know that chance it will happen is microscopic. Inequality is rising, nationalism is rising, while solidarity is local, if any; but capitalism, wars and climate are global.
(I love anyone who has hope for the future, though I am incapable of sharing this.)

damn fuckin right yanis. wish there were 100 more like you.
socialism for the rich - 'too big to fail'.
well the answer is surely obvious.
don't let them get that big !
that would be a good starting point

It's important for progressives to win over public opinion, that is always a first step for deep and lasting policy changes. It would be great to have more political thinkers, academics and activists which give their contribution in a public debate.

This is my rhetoric, believe I am leading you to a better future. Truth mixed with lies is always toxic. People really want truth, and the real truth is, they have taken more from you than you actually know, which many will never have the chance to redeem. I am sorry but that is the truth.

As an ordinary person, you have echoed my very presumptions about the powers that be, sad thing is, they, those who control us politically via those in power in our governments and that cess pit in Brussels it will now never change once they got away with socialising debt.

Great valuable insights. Thank you very much for sharing.
But I´m very much against this frequent "socialism /welfare for the few" metaphor.
Calling the abusive core of Capitalism " Socialism for the rich" "Corporate Socialism" or " Corporate welfare") because it´s unfair and evil is a double-edged sword. It has no much value coming from democrats (not D), leftists, socialists or progressives. It really doesn´t explain Capitalism.
And many reactionary people actually love it. Why? Because very often people calling capitalist privileges "socialist" or "welfare" just try to exonerate Capitalism and to smear Socialism (or "welfare") for Capitalism flaws and crimes. [That´s not good , honest Capitalism, just "Corporate Welfare or Socialism, which is very bad]. And I have seen this online, I´m not just guessing. Using "socialism" for the worst inner effects of Capitalism to exonerate Capitalism. I know it´s not how Mr. Varoufakis and other respectable thinkers use it but… it´s wrong and it doesn´t work.
Like the bolsheviks use of "Capitalist Democracies" for their actually very antidemocratic enemies, which actually was a HUGE mistake. And not just a matter of terms.
    Think about it.

The main point of the phrase probably is to put capitalism in a bad way metaphorically independent if you know what it is

The problem is simple, 1. There are way to many people, 2. There are no governments,..3. There is only elite Bankers..4. The end of humanity, started in 1913..with the formation of the Federal Reserve..5. Everything else is just talking about who is going to take the blame for the death of human rights..💤..

He has degrees in mathematics, economics and has taught economics and econometrics. Maybe he also has a personal life, but I hope it doesn't make you think he's disqualified in the field of political economy. (:

@@majl9585 I was just joking .I thought he used to be in some kind of entertainment .I'm sure he does have a personal life .To be honest I think Marxism can never work because of human nature .A lot of things taught at university are dangerous and wrong like white privilege .You can get a degree in that I suppose.Does a degree prevent you from being wrong ?
