Chip Kelly had a game plan we were not ready for. Look at those first 7-8 scripted plays - first one was a motion into quads (LB didn’t realize he has #4), fake screen, wheel route - that’s a nasty play! Sick sick play design. I’m a HS OC in Dallas, I drew out all 8 plays. That sequence was just sick and it countered everything Oregon was ready for and got the ball into the playmakers’ hands. Lanning and staff were not ready for that.
Lanning needed a game like this for the betterment of the future oregon football .. his inexperience in college football major bowl games were quite evident. Chip Kelly has experience, Ryan Day has experience .
As an Ohio State fan, Oregon was a legitimate contender, or this win means nothing; it can't be both. I don't know anyone who thinks Oregon wasn't legitimate, this was in fact a huge win for Ohio State!
Don't hate on the Ducks. We had the same frustration when Ohio State lost to the team up north. OSU lost to a 7 win team, Ducks won the big 10 and made the playoffs.
That’s irrelevant. The shit media narrative of “OMG OSU is so talented” is just reinforced because coaches didn’t prep. Flat out; get ready for the effin game and show up to play. By the time they showed up, way too late. Too often Dan’s teams just seem dumbfounded when they have comparable talent at key positions.
Defense needs to be better, possibly much better. Linebackers are good, not great. DB's are good, not great (also too small for the evolving college game). I feel confident that Oregon is reloading on the D-Line. Some concern on preparedness for this game. The month-long wait before the game simply did not help. At the end of the day, Ohio State had better overall players and the coaches had them prepared and focused. As my old Offensive Line coach would say:" Keep your head up and keep your feet moving!". Very proud of Oregon. Room for improvement and I believe it will happen.
I haven’t looked into it myself but after the OSU game I heard Oregon’s cornerbacks are all like 5’9? If that’s true that’s going to present problems for every good team you guys play. I’m sure Lanning recognizes it’s a problem
OSU roster is completely better on both sides of the ball. It’s not even close. Oregon has maybe one projected first round guy, OSU has five plus. Too much cope, and you keep talking about the first OSU game as if you did not get an on side kick and a fumble in the red zone. Can’t expect to win again based off major breaks. And only won by one at home, the take away from the first game you should have gotten, is that you got lucky. That is what the Rose bowl proved. No turnovers, no penalties, just best on best, and the results speak for themselves.
OSU 2 losses the beat themselves. The buckeyes you see today is who they always were.We OSU fans always knew this now that they are clicking everyone is seeing it. Fyi OSU has always been a different beast during Post season. History.!!!
As a Mich fan, I agree with that. All OSU had to do was be itself and not be something more like it tried to be. Michigan needed them to do what they did to win that game. Michigan is the more physical team.
i wouldn’t say they were lucky. dan lanning, will stein, and tosh lupoi out coached ohio state in october, and ohio states staff made adjustments and thoroughly out coached oregon in this game. that was the big difference. both chip kelly and jim knowles went from solid to outright phenomenal from the october game to january. oregon very easily could have won by double digits in the first game, but ohio state hadn’t hit their peak yet. they hit their stride in this game, while oregon came out slow and flat. when you have a team as talented as ohio state, you cannot play your D+ game. when you play your D+ game against ohio states A+, this is the result you get. when oregon played their B+ game against ohio states B+ game, they won. oregon just got outplayed and out coached substantially
@@jeffreyprice9790 first off, i never said they were superior, so don’t put quotes around that statement. second off, it was not a “terrible” opi, in fact by rule it was quite literally a textbook call. smith blatantly extended his arms and pushed off on the db, anyone calling that a bad call knows nothing about the game of football and should stop speaking like they know what they are talking about. third, you cannot use “exploitation” and “now changed rule” in the same sentence. if it was legal, how is he “exploiting” something? that was just a smart move by lanning. but that’s not even the coaching i’m referring to. since you can’t use your brain, i’ll go into further detail about what i meant. in october, will stein had a great game plan and the players executed it very well. jim knowles wanted to take away the short throws, so will steins plan in turn was to throw over the top, which worked to the tune of 32 points and a win. however in the rose bowl, jim knowles had a fantastic game plan, and had answers for everything will stein tried to do. jim knowles was thoroughly better than will stein in this game. chip kelley had a solid game plan in october, which resulted in 31 points and a narrow loss. however in this game, chip kelly was absolutely phenomenal. the first 8 ish play script was nothing short of incredible. they had the perfect plan, and executed it to perfection. and with tosh lupoi and dan lannings lackluster performance in the first half, as well as a very slow start from the players, that lands you in a 34-0 hole. it’s not that hard of a concept to grasp. maybe you should think a little harder before being so loud and wrong. kinda embarrassing
@micahhhhh1 I was right about everything I said multiple casters even questioned the opi you goon no need to read a losers book on bs when we saw what happened. The same dirt tier program you'll always be
I was devastated beyond belief at the Ducks losing and losing so terribly. I believed 100% that this was the year. I have to admit that I was wrong. I'm not stupid and I watched what I watched. You know what? Oregon is STILL as good as it gets under Dan Lanning and I'm not giving up on my school and my program. I sat through the Toilet Bowl as a kid and there's nothing that the greatest coach we've ever had can do that would make me give up up on Dan Lanning. In fact, I would love to treat Dan and his beautiful bride to a dinner at the restaurant of their choice to thank them for what they've brought to Oregon. Yes, I thought this was the year, but guess what? This is just the beginning of what the greatest coach in college football is going to accomplish. 13-1 Including the B1G title in the Ducks first season in the B1G? I'll take that. Dan da man and I still believe!
@robdrayer2183 the goal of college foodball is a national championship Dan has laid eggs in the biggest game of each of his first 3 years. Thats a pattern.
Ohio State was down two starting O linemen, both of whom will be playing in the NFL in 2025. We played a kid who never started a single game all season until the Tennessee game and another who was an alternate in games against lesser opponents. Those kids came to play. The fact is Oregon was out-coached and didn’t have the intensity the Buckeyes did at any point in this game. How many times did Oregons’s five star defensive end make any plays?
@@Tee-ducki’m convinced you aren’t actually a duck fan. do not celebrate whatsoever when oregon eventually wins their first national championship under dan lanning. there are so many things i want to say to you that im only holding back on because youtube will not let me say how i feel about you
@ lol. Lanning will never win a Natty. Anywhere. Dude got smacked twice last year by UW. What did he learn? Nothing. Then he gets blown out after a month to prepare. 34-0 before even getting a first down? Good grief. Id rather have Helfrich back. He at least won the RB. Even his recruits are bailing after that performance. The 5* QB recruit is transferring out. Wants nothing to do with this show. Yet Lanning gets $8 million. Laughing at UO.
@ yeah you might be the biggest idiot i’ve ever seen in my life. you’d rather have helfrich back? i shouldn’t even have to explain how dumb that is to say. also “the” 5 star qb didn’t transfer, ONE of the 5 star qbs transferred, and the other will start this year. we are fortunate enough to have multiple 4 and 5 star qbs because lannings such a good recruiter. that does not happen under helfrich, instead we get jeff lockie, and we know how that turned out. lanning must be a magician to get all these 4 and 5 stars despite how terrible he is on the field. or maybe he’s just an evil liar tricking all these kids with money?
National Championship programs needs teams willing to continually play them and lose-Oregon has its role. 34-0 is nonsense, that’s not coaching, that’s not competing, the answers have been “coach speak”
@@BetterDays-e8h I don't see things as so etched-in-stone as you do. Oregon doesn't need to be a blue blood; they just need to keep building. If Lanning can put together another couple Top Ten recruiting classes and taper down his transfer portal reliance, Oregon will remain in the thick of things. As to whether they will win a natty, that all depends on whether Lanning ever figures it out on defense-where he's been a disappointment so far.
When do you think they started building? Your take is sincere, but it is problematic to tolerate that performance. Ducks fans have seen enough great teams and enough not great teams to know that 34-0 halftime does not happen to a great team. That should stink to everyone and repulse them. Recruits and NIL transfers should consider this as they decide between Oregon and other programs. 34-0 should repulse a program worthy of a National Title-I know it would disgust OSU fans. There have been no great teams ever that went down 34-0 before halftime. It is an eliminating performance for great teams. This was a good team. It is in jeopardy of becoming worse as much as it is able to get better. How this awful defeat is managed is critical. This is not time for Generation Participation Trophy to take charge we need a Championship soon and it comes from demanding performance on the field from the young men who are getting paid millions now. If you’re 5’9” you shouldn’t be on the field covering a 6’4” receiver that’s stupid recruiting and coaching. Be better fans-don’t call this team great, it didn’t perform great on the field when it mattered most. It was crushed, given mercy. They need to know this repulsed the fan base, they don’t need Bob’s Breasts they need Fight Club.
The thing is that that game felt like and was way more than a 20 point game. The two teams felt completely unmatched. Very scoring drive Oregon had to work their ass off for and osu made it look easy. Osu also was conservative in the second half on both sides of ball.
Coach Day and his players showed Grace to Coach Lanning and the Ducks. That final score could have easily gone over 50. The Ducks forgot how to play defense sometime between Washington game and January 1!
The Ducks were on fire before the break but came back extinguished after the break. The only explanation I keep going back to is you can't be off from playing for 24 straight days right before the playoffs and expect to come back and be on top of your game.
Comparing this game to those other ones is a little misleading. Ohio State took their foot off the gas in the 2nd half. I couldn’t imagine what the score would’ve been if they kept it up
Why can’t commenters see this-Day and the OSU players have Grace, not in a charitable way, in the way they knew the Ducks were defeated. They heard the Oregon players crying out Uncle, OSU had two more games for their goal and will play Oregon next Season. Game was won by the middle of the 2nd Quarter-Day knew he had the much better team the much better staff. Why is anyone talking about the score. The game was won by halftime, everyone knew, the Ducks knew.
@@BetterDays-e8hagreed. One oregon fan said they won the second half 😅😅😅 that game was over by the end of the first. They didn’t need to be aggressive after that.
Spencer… hear me out….. I’m am an ‘02 UO Alum, former Eug/Spfld resident and studied under long time former S&C coach Radcliffe who was the strength coach under Brooks, Belotti, Chip and Helfrich. I’m a Duck through and through. You may not want to hear this, but Oregon FB and BBs will always be great but the ultimate goal of a Natty will always just slip through their fingers. Why? The Wrestling curse. When the wrestling program was given the axe, the AD gave them a donation number ($1M) to reach, and said if they reached it they would be able to remain. They did. The Athletic Department went back on their word and cut them anyway. Oregon sports has a Wrestling Curse problem. I love this coaching staff, but they are up against something that NIL $$$ can’t fix. Just look back over the years when Oregon has had so many unexplainable heart wrenching turn-of-events in games SINCE the wrestling program was wronged.
No you trolls keep saying Oregon #1 in NIL spending. Ohio State tops the list of most money to buy a championship. Oregon is at #19 on that list. I've seen the list. Cease and desist your disinformation. Good God y'all.
@@AzMurse definitely a weakness that’s for sure. All you can do is recruit better and hopefully develop them. Not sure this staff has the ability to do that
Do you think going down 34-0 before halftime on National TV at the Rose Bowl will help recruiting and the transfer/NIL Portal? I do not. I think that performance will hurt recruiting very much so. That great recruiting roster can change their mind-maybe those young men want to win a National Title and don’t want to join a team that cannot fun a way to win a National Title. Maybe!
@@BetterDays-e8hvery casual comment. it’s very clear that you have absolutely ZERO idea about how recruiting works. but you’re a grown man with 60+ comments on a channel about a team youre not even a fan of, so i wouldn’t expect you to be knowledgeable about anything in life at all
The COPE! 🤣 Dang, Spencer! "Oregon just had a bad day" is a farcical trivialization of what was otherwise a very informative outcome. The Autzen game was a magical outlier event, whereas the Rose Bowl was a reversion to the norm-and it's okay. Denial serves no one. Lanning is off to a great start with three straight top ten recruiting classes, but Ohio State has been compiling top five classes for many years. Oregon still needs another couple elite classes before its window truly opens.
That game was on the coaching, Will did not stop calling screens passes and check downs. Ohio states line was wayyyy too hot to be pulling that crap. I think Dan will learn from that game and maybe force the adjustments a little sooner.
Big respect to you guys. A very hard way to end the season but there's no denying Oregon had a great season and great team. Good luck in the future. #GoBucks
You made all those points about how they beat Ohio state. Still not understanding the game was played in Oregon. In a neutral site they had no chance against Ohio state.
@@5a.mthey never had a chance. You're the same dirt tier program you'll always be. 2-10 vs ohio state. 0-3 in the postseason. The 2 best teams you've ever had got blown out by 20+ to ohio state in the playoffs. Talking about sore winner. No. Delusional loser. Sit down
Let’s be real, if you had beaten Ohio state, you would’ve been the odds on favorite to win the title. The rose bowl winner was gonna be a massive favorite because those 2 teams were viewed as probably the best 2 teams in the field. Ohio state just took what they learned from the last couple weeks and the first Oregon matchup and put together a basically unstoppable game plan. Sometimes when Ryan day and company go beast mode, there’s just no one that can stop them.
34-0 before halftime. Clearly Oregon was not the second, third, fourth or fifth best team in the Nation. Those teams don’t go down 34-0 before halftime at the Rose Bowl. They prepare, plan, and compete because the entire CFB world will be watching that game. Top steaks would be ashamed to go down 34-0 before halftime at the Rose Bowl, so they wouldn’t do it.
2:23 those of us that thought Oregon Ducks could win it all were very wrong, we were 34-O before halftime wrong. Is it true about Jordan in the injury tent?
@@jeffreyprice9790 obviously. But a good enough secondary that matches up better physically with a good scheme can make it more difficult for JJ. Hes inevitably going to get his catches tho hes a generational player. May have a higher ceiling than any recent buckeye receiver and thats scary asf.
@sir-beventon that's the crazy part about him he's better than all the great wrs that came through ohio state and he's a freshman. College has 2 more years of this kid. The thought of him developing and getting better is kind of wild to think about. He's league ready right now
Serious he went from Travis hunter hands to not being able to catch a pass to irrelevant. Major meltdown. Just like Burch doing nothing 99% of the time. James left early for no reason even Ferguson had like a few games where he acted like he was on shrooms. Dan is the same will call a good game then has a bone head game at the biggest moment. Thinking a shadow hand at work in college foodball
Evan actually said he’s been dealing with an injury since the PSU game and that he tried to give it a go pregame, but the coaching staff decided to hold him out

@@danielcantrell9227 I’m not sure there is one player from Oregon who could start for OSU. Hence, the blowout. I’m just not sure how the Ducks blew out Michigan. Makes no sense.
I hear you, Spencer, but here’s my take: That regular-season win against Ohio State was Oregon’s "Natty." After that, it felt like they coasted through the rest of their games. I never believed Oregon would win the championship this year-I even made money betting against them in that game. Why? Because, in my opinion, Dan Lanning’s "best team money can buy" strategy doesn’t foster the unity or resilience needed to win a championship. Many of these players are hired guns-focused on the highest bidder. When adversity strikes, they make business decisions instead of fighting for the team. Rewatch the Ohio State game, and you’ll see the lack of effort from some of the hired-gun Oregon players when things weren’t going their way. It wasn’t just a bad day-it was a lack of effort and desire to play, and that falls on coaching. Yes, Ohio State also pays players, but those players were committed to the team and to each other. Buying talent might win games, but it doesn’t build the mindset required to win it all because players chasing the highest bidder are ultimately only out for themselves.
@@DJRezonance I can understand if you disagree, and maybe you’re just a fan. But a neutral observer sees things for what they are. Many players, along with their family and friends, tweet comments about ‘trying to get that Nike bag,’ making it clear what’s on their minds.
Are 5'9 corners going to grow 3 inches? A bad day??? Tennessee had a bad day too right? No that is a trend, a team trending. Oregon won by 1 point at home... come on man! But I understand your logic and more importantly I understand why. But Ohio State is is actually showing new wrinkles on both sides of the ball.
9:01 All 4 teams with a bye losing is a stupid argument. 2 teams were from lesser conferences. Georgia lost their starting quarterback and had a first time starter. Oregon got screwed by the committee, and ran into a buzzsaw pissed off team.
They also got screwed by the schedule because 24 days off is too much. They didn't look completely out of the depth on October 12th because they shared the same schedule as OSU. That has EVERYTHING to do with it.
@@jirikurto3859 what really happened was Ohio State finally played to their potential starting in the playoffs so Oregon didn’t really get the same weak version they got in the first meeting lol Even tho there really wasn’t a way for the committee to know that OSU would destroy it’s opponents it still lead y’all getting screwed as the first seed.

Spencer i normally agree but this time I think you're full of it. Lots of young dudes just licking their chops as their time is coming up.
Nope. 5’8 QB who can’t get through his progression without escaping the pocket or throw guys open. 8 sacks to 0 sacks. It’s not like you had Michael Penix Jr.
Oregon fans were not honest with themselves when evaluating the first win. One point win at home with “cute” plays and rule finagling. Well done in that game! Not a way to sustain wins vs good teams.
34-O before halftime against any team including the greatest team in the history of trams speaks volumes about the Big O-the 2024 Oregon Ducks were a very good team, nothing more. Great teams never go down 34-O. There were better Oregon Ducks teams than the 2024 Oregon Ducks, much better.

Let's be clear, Oregon is the second best team in the nation, Yes they belong. They could beat anyone other than OSU right now in the nation. OSU losing to the ducks early and Michigan helped them and humbled them. Be safe everyone, God bless
To be clear. The second best team in the Nation. Will be the team that loses in the National Championship game. To be clear. If Oregon wanted to have a shot at being that team, Oregon would have had to defeat Ohio State. Instead Oregon decided to be defeated 41-21 after having submitted at 34-0, I would argue 17-0z. This is more than a trend; when can this coaching staff PLEASE prep for key games and look ready. Even against PSU they looked so confused; watching the game I kept on asking “who won’t communicate properly on D next?”

Was Oregon good enough to win a title? Absolutely. If this was the BCS or the 4-team playoff, I believe they would have won. The 12-team format allows for an extra mulligan for the top end teams, and this year that was a blessing for OSU. I expect Oregon to be a perennial contender with Lanning as HC.
Whatever helps you cope. If you were the best team it wouldn’t matter who else was in the playoffs. Anyone could tell what was about to happen to Oregon by watching the first game. That was a gift. We told you what would happen without all the wonky mistakes.
I'm a Buckeye fan, so I'm giving you guys an outsider's perspective. OSU is on death star mode right now and Oregon just so happened to be in the way. In a BCS set up, I think Oregon thumps this year's UGA team. In a 4-team playoff, I think they beat any of the teams that would have gotten in. So, this team is close, but Wednesday was just not their day.
Ok everyone from duck nation take a breather. 2 things happened- 1) Oregon had a bad game and 2) OSU is just a hot team right now. Let’s move on and focus on next season.
Ohio state had a 22 day layoff before Tennessee. Oregon had a 25 day layoff before ohio state. Stop it. Osu if playing this way would just roll Oregon. It's actually that simple simple.
Buckeyes are a better team… Ducks did get screwed with the seeding. I knew beating PSU was going to hurt them and it did…However, you still gotta be ready to play and beat whoever your opponent is. The Ducks didn’t get it done. Maybe next season. Still was a great season.
Just because B happened after A happened does not mean it's a cause and effect. Your alarm clock going off every morning does not make the sun come up. Sometimes you just get outplayed - look at OSU - Michigan, ND - Northern Illinois. It happens
OSU had almost a month before the Tennessee game. The more logical explanation is that OSU is just in another league. Those boys looked scared when they stepped on the field at the Rose Bowl. Lanning did too.
That performance was sad, I don’t understand how in the first game Oregon players on offense and defense looked faster than the Ohio State players. I have a couple of insiders I heard from that a lot of the players and staff were battling or just getting over having the flu. I mean you could kinda hear in dans and tosh’s voice in the pregame interviews. No one anywhere predicted the game to be like that. It would make perfect sense that Oregon looked flat. Either way, Ohio State won and judging off their last two games it doesn’t look like anyone left can beat them. Congrats Buckeyes on the absolute beat down, and good luck the rest of the way
Listen you were never better than Ohio St you scrounged out a win on your own field than you had to play them again on a neutral field all they had to do was don’t turn the ball over improve your pass coverage and above all get pressure on the OB and in knew they would win and they did all three.
Man.. OSU has had more than their share of playoff ending games. The best thing that happened to Ohio State was losing to Oregon in Autzen, and then losing to TTUN at the shoe. It’s been an absolute privilege having the ducks thrown into the B1G. Keep your heads up, Ducks. Your moment will come, I have no doubt.
They did a poor job in preparing for this game. While the 25 days off was detrimental to their momentum coming into the game, it started off wrong by giving OSU the ball first. You had to have known that OSU would come out on fire and your players would be rusty. Complacency at its finest. Take the ball first, go 3 and out, or get at least a first down and take some time to let the first part of the game settle down. Look at their defensive scheme and determine if their game-plan was similar to the Tenn game, which it was. OSU was lined up on defense against the ducks the same way against tenn. How Will Stein and Dan couldn’t see that baffles me. Now your defense is on the field, and you make your adjustments. But the problem is Will Stein is not creative. The offense has been very plain all season long with the exception of the first quarter in the b1g championship game. Defense is just average for Oregon always has been. The secondary sucks. There are no play makers in the back. Teams have found a way to march down the field against Oregon all season long. Look at what Penn state did. Defensive coordinator had no plan for the game. Somehow defense had a plan in 2015 against FSU giving them space, letting them throw, ect and the defense and offense even adjusted to OSU in 2015 and the score at the half was 21-17. Unless they figure out how to have a lights out caliber defense like championship Alabama, Georgia, LSU, Clemson, OSU have or have had, they will never win a national title. Some of fans are part of the problem as well. Look at all the comments on social media “proud of our guys conference champions 13-1 let’s go!” Loser mentality. Fans should have been booing after OSU’s second touchdown and should have been in absolute outrage after the game. Look at the outrage at Day after the Michigan game.
Everyone complaining about 25 days off killing momentum is forgetting that it was always at least that during the four team playoff era and even longer during the BCS era. Just looking for an excuse for an embarrassing loss.
@ it was 25 days off for both teams playing in previous seasons so sometimes both teams were off to a slow start or just one. I also watch European soccer as I say I am more of a soccer guy. For example the Champions League final is usually 3 weeks or more from the semi final games. The teams in the final almost always lose momentum. Even in the World Cup there are teams that start off slow with exception of last world cup bit started during regular league play.
@@gregorybrand8746 and the point of my comment about the 25 days off isn’t an excuse, I was trying to say it was ignored in planning for the game. The coaches should have let inexperienced players know that rust is going to be normal for the first several plays, you just gotta lock in and survive it. That other team is on fire and just played last week.
Oregon was absolutely a championship-caliber team. If the bucks and ducks each other played 10 times, both teams would likely walk away with multiple wins.
Somebody need to tell the truth , stop playing these transfer that wasn’t good enough to get recruited the 1st time around . All of sudden these guys are better than the original guys we recruited to be a Duck. “No they not”! The last 3 years we had top 5-10 recruiting class but only a small percentage of those players starts or even play. Then when we play a focus Ohio st team on a neutral field we got exposed. Our transfers kids that came from Duke , Kst, Ole Miss that Kiffin didn’t want anymore, a Colorado player that’s from the 1-9 team and you expect those guys to cover Ohio st Wrs on a neutral field when Ohio st is focus no way that’s happening. It is what it is! Until we consistently play our recruits this will always happen when we play the big boys. Always remember it’s a reason those transfers wasn’t originally recruited to : Oregon, Ohio st, Georgia, or Alabama in the beginning. They weren’t good enough. That’s just the defense what about the offense our RT that came from New York D2 program got exposed like a fake 3 dollars bill . Majority of the pressure all night was coming from his guy. With all that said I’m not blaming the players because they max out their limit. I’m blaming our coaches for either not developing the guys that we recruited that’s on Ohio st level or develop the right way to be ready to play Ohio st talent on a neutral field.
Every single team with a first round bye lost in their first playoff game. I think taking an entire month off from playing lets all your momentum go down the drain. And the supposed "advantage" is lost anyway because Ohio State was essentially coming off of a normal one week bye... the whole set up of the playoffs and the seeding is such a disastrous sham. I think this proves that the 12-team playoff is just a money grabbing joke and needs to be ended ASAP
appreciated your show this year. was at both games this year. I agree Oregon had a natty quality team. AND THIS SYSTEM WAS IN NO WAY FAIR! This is coming from a Buckeye fan. I'll just say this: with two losses last year we dont get the chance to do this. Now you get to have a couple hiccups and still compete in the playoffs.
Ugh, such a disappointment to have a bad game in that spot. This season doesn’t feel like a waste, but boy to come out in the rose bowl and just have nothing go right feels like a punch in the gut. Can’t believe we gotta wait 9 months to do this again.
Ohio st vs Penn st for the title. Penn st has looked great. From the second half of the big ten title game thru the last two playoff games I could see them beating the buckeyes too. Big ten has the best teams in the country this year and it isn’t even close. Go ducks always 🦆
@@orbuckeye896 honestly, they probably would have beaten the ducks on Wednesday. The ducks weren’t ready to play and I don’t believe the opponent would have changed the outcome much. When you get into the upper crust of teams in college football, having a bad day usually results in a loss. Spencer explains it well in the video. Buckeyes lost to Michigan.. do I believe Michigan is a better team than osu? Not a chance lol. Buckeyes had a bad day against a rival. It happens.
All the teams that had a first round bye lost, ever though most were higher in the ratings than their opponents. I think the first round bye, separating championship game and playoff game for a month, killed Oregon. I would like the first round bye rule abolished.
Apparently ASU thought it could. The ASU performance showed why they had earned the right at a non-hypothetical shot. They barely lost, but they earned the right to be there absolutely.
I’m devastated but it’s soothing to know we lost to a team that just had way more talent. We have more work to do, and we are headed in the right direction. It’s only a matter of time before Oregon gets their Jeremiah Smith or Joe Burrow.
@@Commonwolfcrypto So, how did the magnificent Buckeyes get beat by Oregon in October, especially when Oregon left a lot of points on the field? How did Oregon score more points against Michigan than Ohio State? How did Oregon score more points against Penn State than Ohio State? I am not really interested in what your response may be. There was plenty of hot air in your previous comment.
I think the first matchup between the two teams was the more flukey and outlier game between Ohio state and Oregon. 34-0when it mattered the most says it all
Oregon was clearly played, but by themselves. They lost vision when they got hit by Ohios first drive. Why? Even Dan could not tell you, as he grabs for game day reasons. Momentum and energy are not managed by vision.
Oregon is, and will continue to be, a good team. Buckeyes finally got it figured out and started playing to the potential everyone knew was possible. The fact that others are still surprised they are capable of this level of play makes me chuckle. Look forward to locking horns with y’all for years to come. Go Bucks!
As a texas fan...ima be feeling the same way all of u do next friday. Congrats on a great season. I doubt my longhorns can pull an upset...but u never know..
There are 5 stages of mourning are- denial, anger, bargaining, depression and acceptance… mhhh every fan base goes through this.. just ask any Buckeye fan.. Much respect to Oregon…
Oregon never made any real mistakes outside of missed coverages and blocks. They played okay not great. Every Ohio State fan, including myself knew we could win but the Ducks are elite and it could have went bad for either side. It was just fortunately (for me) our day!
I’m a Buckeye diehard and I agree with you 100%. I was worried when we were going into the Tennessee game, I was worried going into the Oregon game, and I’ll be nervous going into the Texas game because it is about who’s going to execute and who’s going to play a clean game (turnovers, penalties, etc.).
No, no, no. The only thing that played a role is 4 weeks off while the other team is in the flow of the season competition time. This has never happened in College Football before. In the past teams had 4 weeks off, but then both teams had the same challenge, so it was not noticeable. But when you do this in 4 games, and in all 4 you have the same dynamic.... There was nothing Dan could have done different. Let me explain: When your execution timing, reaction timing, read timing, tackling, etc... Is way off, the consequences are everything you have outlined in your video. The mismatch of weeks off was so glaring in all 4 games. The first half in all 4 games looked like we had NFL vs College teams on the field. Georgia has twice the talent of ND and ND won comfortably, being in control the whole game. You cannot simulate game competition through 4 weeks of practice, while the other team has a perfect 1 week off and then it gets sped up through competition. It never loses the regular season timing, as it behaves like all teams do after a 1 week off behave: The very next game their are sharper, rested, prepared and healthier, and they play if not the best game of the season, it's at the top performances of the season. And the they go again at the top of their level playing against a team that has been stunted with weeks on end practicing slower, and not hitting full speed cause they are trying to not hurt each other. You just simply cannot simulate the game level competition during that long of period. Both teams MUST have the same time off for this to make sense. After watching the 4 games where we did this type of match up, it's clear now that the team that had 4 weeks off, while the other team was sharpened through the competition is about 2TD-3TD advantage. When Oregon plays at the top of the game and OSU is at the top of its game, it's about 50/50 game. Otherwise it's the game we saw. ND controls Georgia, and ASU spots Texas 2 TD in the first half. The first half was the most glaring in all 4 games. In the 2nd half the bye teams started playing better, but that time it was too late. It's amazing that ASU, or rather Skataboo was able to bring the team back from the hole, but that just speaks about Skataboo abilities and how weak O line of Texas really is (they stopped Texas in the 2nd half). They system makes no sense, and if system doesn't get adjusted so that both teams have comparable time off by the time they play, teams will adjust during the regular season, and assure they fall withing 5-8 seed at the end of the season. It's that simple.
The teams in the first round all had the same time off - all of the matchups either had two weeks off for both teams or three weeks off for both teams - and in four games the favorite won in a blowout, with a slow start for the losing team just as in the second round. Time off made no difference, the favorites all won again. MANY MANY people in previews pointed to the time off for Oregon as a definite advantage over Ohio State in the Rose Bowl, until they lost. Can't have it both ways.
@@jonwalter6317exactly. The time off excuse doesn’t hold water. Oregon was never the best team in the big 10. They were just saving our seat until we came together.
My take is Ohio State is teaching the national a lesson on how to play a season and be prepared for the playoffs. The Oregon loss, and especially the Michigan loss, is no longer important like it used to be. Chip Kelly and Ryan Day have NFL coaching experience and saw how a season should be properly planned out. Oregon won a huge game at home and Ohio State and cruised through the season without much of a challenge. Ohio State faced 3 unbeaten teams, two on the road, and slowly built momentum as the season played out. Winning a conference championship is irrelevant if a team wants to win a national title since the playoffs will require at least 3 playoff wins.
Penn St is not that good and Oregon doesn't have a national championship D. Y'all have a pretty explosive offense against average teams. Teams like Michigan with foundational good Defenses will be the contenders year in and year out. These flashy offenses are a once every 5 or 10 years type a deal in cfB
@@_jse123Michigan had one good year and you’re acting like they aren’t another penn state team with a different colored uniform. Yall see who you really are without the cheating scandals. Sit this one out my boy.
Apparently, the plan was to turn DG into a pocket passer.. CK would have had the team ready to play. The taggart/cristobal era continues with great recruiting and mediocre coaching.
Everyone saying we didn’t show up but not having Evan Stewart right before kick off throws a huge wrench in your game plan and it’s not like we had time to adjust. It was over the second he got hurt. The offense doesn’t sputter like it did without him and all Ohio state had to do was Key on Tez.
This team looked very vulnerable against Boise early on. I felt like they were going to drop a couple and weren’t as good as last years team. They were outclassed by a mile in the Rose Bowl and looking back they over performed against Ohio State the first time and were lucky to catch them before they found their groove. The Buckeyes looked like they were at practice against their JV all day.
Spending money over $10-15 on a team is diminishing returns. The top teams will all be spending and have talent. It's then up to recruiting and coaches to make a difference.
National championship ceiling was definitely there. Ohio state just got really hot at the end of the season and was pissed off. Plus the game plan for them was rock solid, we had nothing open on offense that I saw rewatching the game. Just need to push forward, we are close, just need elite athletes in more positions ( FS, SS, G, LB).
💯
Probably the best take I’ve heard or at least everything I was thinking ha ha
They ran it the opposite direction a little while later. It still got like 8 yards.
Wait so a 4 yard pass to the flat wasn’t a good plan?…..weird.
I mean true but that’s really irrelevant to be honest.
Ohio state lives rent free in everyone’s head hahaha. This is hilarious. Get slammed. Oregon was exposed for what they really were. Fraudulent.
@@roberts3921also our two best players that combined for 300 yards and 4 tds the first match so play calling would be way different
Michigans D dominated OSu, 33 pass attempts never forget, Joel Klatt was lying his fandom got in the way.
You cannot sum that loss up to just having a bad day. You don’t just have a bad day when it comes to win or go home

As a Mich fan, I agree with that. All OSU had to do was be itself and not be something more like it tried to be. Michigan needed them to do what they did to win that game. Michigan is the more physical team.
Oregon was VERY lucky to win the first game. Fact is OSU is a better team too to bottom
i wouldn’t say they were lucky. dan lanning, will stein, and tosh lupoi out coached ohio state in october, and ohio states staff made adjustments and thoroughly out coached oregon in this game. that was the big difference. both chip kelly and jim knowles went from solid to outright phenomenal from the october game to january. oregon very easily could have won by double digits in the first game, but ohio state hadn’t hit their peak yet. they hit their stride in this game, while oregon came out slow and flat. when you have a team as talented as ohio state, you cannot play your D+ game. when you play your D+ game against ohio states A+, this is the result you get. when oregon played their B+ game against ohio states B+ game, they won. oregon just got outplayed and out coached substantially
Shhhh, we want them to think that they are right there.
@micahhhhh1 a terrible opi and exploitation of a now changed rule is out coaching😂😂😂. Stop it. Osu just exposed these "superior coaches"
That was a legitimate offer, Coach Lanning. Feel free to hit me up if you want to take me up on that. If you don't, I won't be offended.
No noe does better than dan at making the Ducks suddenly irrelevant at the worse times
@MrBigdaddy2ya Irrelevant? An undefeated regular season and a conference title is hardly irrelevant.
@robdrayer2183 the goal of college foodball is a national championship Dan has laid eggs in the biggest game of each of his first 3 years. Thats a pattern.
34-0 before halftime. Period.

The thing is that that game felt like and was way more than a 20 point game. The two teams felt completely unmatched. Very scoring drive Oregon had to work their ass off for and osu made it look easy. Osu also was conservative in the second half on both sides of ball.

2-10 vs ohio state. 0-3 in the postseason. The 2 best teams you've ever had got blown out by 20+ to ohio state in the playoffs. Talking about sore winner. No. Delusional loser. Sit down
having a roster full of DB's under 6' doesn't help
Not to mention a 5' 10" quarterback who had many passes batted down at the line of scrimmage.
Do you think Lanning knew? He vouched for them before they got behind 34-0 before the halftime.

Need to change our defensive scheme.. also.. Offord has to start. Brew, McNutt, Finney all need significant time.
I say let them sort it out in camp, and stop trying to pretend you understand who the best players are.
Id say wait to see how the scheme is with better linebackers and secondary. If that doesnt fix it, Tosh needs to go.
You'll never have a DB that can guard JJ.
@@jeffreyprice9790 obviously. But a good enough secondary that matches up better physically with a good scheme can make it more difficult for JJ. Hes inevitably going to get his catches tho hes a generational player. May have a higher ceiling than any recent buckeye receiver and thats scary asf.

34-0 before halftime says it all
I disagree. You would have seen the same thing from Bucks players if they were down 34-0. Oregon has the mindset and the family connection.
@@DJRezonance I can understand if you disagree, and maybe you’re just a fan. But a neutral observer sees things for what they are. Many players, along with their family and friends, tweet comments about ‘trying to get that Nike bag,’ making it clear what’s on their minds.

Ok Illini fan, explain the beat down the Buckeyes gave Tennessee after a 3 week layoff.
All four teams that lost were predicted to lose by the odds.
Ohio State had that much time off before they did the same thing to a really good Tennessee team. That outcome was easy to predict honestly.
@orbucjeye.. It was 12 days off not 3 weeks , stop exagerrating
I’m blaming our coaches for either not developing the guys that we recruited that’s on Ohio st level or develop the right way to be ready to play Ohio st talent on a neutral field.
all the recruits you’re referring to are all too young still. just wait until lannings recruits develop i promise you it’s only a matter of time
Oregon thought something named Gabriel 2 years removed from being a group of 5 player would lead them to a title.

Let me explain:
When your execution timing, reaction timing, read timing, tackling, etc...
Georgia did not play good all year.
Georgia lost due to horrible WR play, that game and all year!
@ kiles... Damn good points on all that. They need to change that to make it fair.
I keep questioning the amount of time between games. To much rest can hurt a team - or am I off base here?
You’re dead on but no one will admit it because Vegas knew. Lots of money changed hands this round. One yr of evidence is plenty.
If that were completely true they would have 3 titles the last 4 yrs
Penn St is not that good and Oregon doesn't have a national championship D. Y'all have a pretty explosive offense against average teams. Teams like Michigan with foundational good Defenses will be the contenders year in and year out. These flashy offenses are a once every 5 or 10 years type a deal in cfB
@@_jse123Michigan had one good year and you’re acting like they aren’t another penn state team with a different colored uniform. Yall see who you really are without the cheating scandals. Sit this one out my boy.
@@danielcantrell9227 this could easily be there 2nd in 3 😂😂
Apparently, the plan was to turn DG into a pocket passer..
CK would have had the team ready to play.
The taggart/cristobal era continues with great recruiting and mediocre coaching.
"All" I ever hear is! wait till next year.
Nobody cares about who lost in big games. Nobody cares about Pay to Play Oregon.
Ohio played like Chip Kelly asked for his old job back and the Ducks laughed at him.
