I don't really read contemporary, but I am a bit curious since the MC is deaf. I'm also curious about how an all deaf school now-a-days would be portrayed. My granddaddy was actually deaf, and I did do a paper back in 2nd grade about when he went to a school for the deaf back in the late 1920s. Note: it was only 2nd grade, so it wasn't very in depth, but one thing I do remember him mentioning is that sign language wasn't taught back then, and was actually discouraged. I want to say some of the teacher's taught it in secret, but I can't be 100% sure.
So I'm really obsessed with your color scheme bookshelf. I don't get it, you select books by color even if they are in the same book series? Like The Selection that has blue, red, white, silver and purple. You put them all apart?

Oh, and just so you know (because so few people know this), the phrase 'hearing impairment' is actually insulting to the Deaf community. You can just say, 'Deaf,' and 'School for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing.' I'm a Deaf Studies major; I have to tell people this. :-)
In Deaf Culture, capital D deaf (Deaf), means that they identify as a Deaf individual both culturally and physically. It's a positive term for those in the Deaf community. They will typically use ASL as their first language. If someone who does not identify this way (just deaf), normally they are closer aligned with the Hearing community and just identify as "hearing impaired" (which is a BAD way to describe a culturally Deaf person) and more than likely use spoken English with little to no ASL. I hope this made sense.

Not hacked, just very busy so putting this video up was a bit chaotic. There is a spoiler discussion part of this, accidentally uploaded it late one night when I was trying to schedule it but it was only up for a couple of minutes, and the video is orange because I had to make a quick cut to some footage and TH-cam's video editor changed the colour for some reason, that has since been fixed.
Why ? is something wrong with LGBT? maybe as a reader she wants to show her support to the community. And as I recall she supports diversity in literature and LGBT is a part of it. And besides this book is about Deaf culture.
I love the fact that there's no love story. No relationship drama. All about friendship.
