I was 24 when I went to all those banks, Uif offices to Master of the high courts for that letter of authority. That's when my father passed on. I relate to crying with one eye open. I remember telling my sister 19 at that time to not dare break down now...My father used to tell me when I cry eyes are clouded with tears that I cannot see the light...sending love my dear grief is indeed forever
I have had widows come into our home wearing black clothes. Nothing has happened to us. So Africans let us move away from these superstitions and discrimination of people who lost their loved ones, especially females .I don't think men i treated this way.😢
Iyo, I can relate to the conversation in all respects. The things that widows go through are underrated. Let's not forget SARS who impose a huge % tax to your husband's pension like he owed them. And the winding up of an estate which is a 5% of the estate. Then you have to change the house title deed to your name and remove his name. That process costs more than R20k. Hhayi it's a lot shame.
It feels like Nonhlanhla is telling my mother's story, i saw her go through all this when my dad passed away. Just sad that she is also late now, would've loved to share this with her abone ukuthi she is not alone. I hope things get better for you Nonhlanhla and God grants you a long life to see your children grow and be independent, unfortunately my mom didn't live long enough to even see me graduate from university.
Such an eloquent and graceful lady. I’m really shocked about the stigma widows still face in this day and age. No one chooses this path. I can’t imagine how the grief is made worse by people so insensitive. Also, what the guy from a coffee date said to her. Her late husband will always be a part of her. He wasn’t just an event to be “ gotten over “. I wish her more strength through this journey.
Thank you madam. Nonny I wish you could do an event for the widows and the married ladies to learn from one another and break the gap between while learning to accept the reality that we live to die.
It's like she's telling my story the loss, the stigma, the strengh for my kids, suicidal thoughts we continue to grieve but we keep moving one step at a time one day at a time...
Im still questioning covid vaccines to this day🤞💔... People are still dying mysteriously... If u ask what happened "he/she just fell"...a lot has happened during vaccines and post vax. Beautiful interview, two beautiful women... Madam Speaker ua a safe space for a lot of people❤👌
Best friend of my boss passed away mysteriously after vaccine, even 2day nobody understands what went wrong bt wrong happened after vaccine 😢even me I have pains I never had before vaccine
And it's not about the type of vaccine. Cos I know a number of people who passed after taking Johnsons Jab. Some got heart problems & some are complaining abt feeling tired all the time.,some were admitted for heart complications, all.of a sudden.. They all took Johnsons vaccine cos it was just 1 jab. So for me ,if there is a problem,it's all of these vaccine, jst that one will blame Pfizer, one will say its Johnsons etc. All of them nje,and its depend on your body, how it fight for you. No one is coming out to discuss the side effects now.
People are so insensitive, our bodies are not the same and we don't accept vaccines and meds the same way, people should understand that, samething cannot work for all of us the same way I'm glad she has gradually accepted and she is healing
Am 57 but lost my husband at 26. I still go through the stigma as people feel I am a no- go area. I have long learnt to be happy with myself for myself and for my children.
Oh Nonhlanhla❤bringing so much light.I can relate,I lost my daughter some years ago, what I learnt in the process church & family don't know how to support the direct affected person i.e spouse, parent etc
I relate 100% to ds lady's story...I just wish I had the strength 7 yrs ago to fight for hubby to be buried in GP..my kids dnt even know their daddy's grave cause the family decided to burry in Limpopo..I had a good support system though from my church and my family..I got triggered wen she mentioned hubby's family questioning kids visit😢...my inlaws last saw the kids on d burial day ,they never called to check up on how we are all doing but few years later they questioned why the kids never visit them...guys we are struggling as young widows n jst wish they inlaws could be supportive and think for the kids more than anything 😢
Noni even though you had to go through such a trying journey, you still saw the need to be a beacon of hope and a source of knowledge for others. God allowed you to go through that knowing that He had equipped you with the strength to overcome. One step at a time. Praying for you and your boys sis, as you continue to summit your mountains. Much love!
It is so sad what she went through, losing the love of her life😢, but I love how she stood her ground. Love it for her ❤ she is such a wonderful person.
Bereavement never ends. Everyday you realize a new thing that is missing due to the person who has died😢. May God always grace us with support along us
Oh Nhlahla bakithi I thank God for giving you the strength and boldness that you have in this journey, yeah that's my little sis right there,, proud of you gal mcwaaa
Nonhlanhla is a very strong woman and I thank God that she managed to gather herself up and speaking about her pain is also therapeutic and her story is giving hope and strength to other young widowed women. Big ups to her.🫂 💐
Thank you Madam Speaker This topic resonates with me. 20yrs widowed this year but feels like yday though its good memories A lot of fresh widows are alone bcos you are never prepared for this and I wish there was a way to prepare women for widowhood I would like to reach out to this lady
Yoooo, what a powerful one. I relieved my experience. I went through a similar experience. People have opinions and treat you like dirt. People are so materialistic and their view of one beinhlg rich when you actually feel pour with the loss. Keep going girl and many more in the same space.
21:29 this is sad. Black people have a perception that with a funeral one earns money. I had people even borrowing money while I am busy hurrying loved ones. But this woman is a real deal shame 👌🏾👌🏾
I have learned so much from this episode, I watched a clip of it on instagram reel and I had to come to youtube to search the full video. Nonhlanhla you a wonderful strong woman ❤
Thanks for such a podcast. I like how Nonhlanhla details how widowed people are spoken to while being pushed by timeframes. I also wish our african communities can stop stigma and all those superstitions. Grief is a long journey.... support is essential.
Wow i also lost my husband last year with boys....your testimony somilarnto minenwith the burial....with God all things are possible...God makes way especially for us young widows....my husband also askednto be buried close to us wow....i fill like you telling my story
I love how she mentions God in every thing indeed if it had not been for the Lord on your side you wouldn’t be this strong 🫂. I have lost the father of my child when our son was two but it’s still hard to mention it when a guy is asking me out me because of that stigma it comes with May God heal our black nation
This was very informative i keep sobbing in between but ive learnt so much from this thank you for this podcast madam speaker 😢🙏🙏i can saying ishhh yoh yea neh
Madam Speaker thank you this interview was eye opening ❤❤🙏sis Nonhlahla God wont give you abandon that is heavy than you ,may God heal you and your boys 🫂🙏💐❤️
Such an informative show. Thank you Ausi and Sorry for your loss and what you had to experience. Im Christian and we do not do traditional things at home but coming from South Africa and learning how cultural our country is. Some things are not stigma, but cultural beliefs that people have believed all these years, which I believe we should respect people's beliefs. Though I do think, there is a manner in which our believes can be communicated without offending others.
Xola Nonhlanhla, it's not easy but with time, you will get stronger. Remember boys need you and you need to hold your head high. You doing well so far. God is forever with you. Send my regards to the boys. Kefilwe ( former flat 7)😂
Very sad story indeed...what a strong woman...not that I'm judging buttt...LIFE COVER INSURANCE....should be our no one priority in everything...super important BATHONG BA MODIMO........we love you sis...you're gonna be super fine....GOD BLESS YOU.
Loved this segment so much. Im going to share it with my mum she list my dad 4 years ago and i know this will help her a lot. Thank You Sis Nhlanhla and keep well Sisi
It true my sister was wearing inzilo and we were using the public transport, the lady was so angry to sit next to my sister akafuni 😢😢 ukuthintwa nglenzilo
Aaaah Nhlanhla 😢,May the almighty strengthen you to carry your husband's legacy. Raise those children to grow up to like their daddy. I understand exactly what you've been through I lost my mom in 2021 still hurting. So losing a husband and with toddlers.
I have learnt a lot from this lady, I am not married and have never been married but I have learnt that a Will is very important as a single mom... Also not to marry in community of property...but thank God I am too old for marriage now...
Yhooo being a widow is very painful ; you have to deal with the pain of losing your partner ngapha the in-laws who are greedy , bathi indoda ayizifeli and mind you my husband died 17 years ago (car accident) my kids were 5years and 2years old . You lose friends people treat you like you have a contagious desease . In public no one wants to sit next to you The inlaws hate you because they want the money . I last saw them 2 days after the funeral my kids do not know them . Widows need a lot of support. Yes being a single parent is difficult. It still hurts even now 😢😔
It happened to our family, a girl came claiming to be my dad's daughter... My mother was told by the Rakgadi to come meet her. My mom said if she found her rakgadi she has found her father's blood there's nothing that can be done by siblings or wife.
What n eloquent woman. She has such a gift of capturing listeners. I hope she is in a career that allows her to tap into this taĺent
Right?? ❤️❤️
I’m a friend to her mom mama Betty❤ Philani was a beautiful n a humble guy. Nonny is one of the strongest women I’ve ever met ❤❤❤peace and love
Thanks for beautiful words
Only if the Deceased' family could remember debts when they collect 'our son's property' 😢
The stigma against widows should be stopped. When it comes to men, they are treated differently,
The marriage vows is till death do us apart 😢
In my 60's i still find comfort in a teddybear,i lost my 12yr old daughter some year ago😢
Yoh Nhlanhla! I'm not widowed but shu I've learned so much. I can listen to you all day long
I was 24 when I went to all those banks, Uif offices to Master of the high courts for that letter of authority. That's when my father passed on. I relate to crying with one eye open. I have had widows come into our home wearing black clothes. Nothing has happened to us. So Africans let us move away from these superstitions and discrimination of people who lost their loved ones, especially females .I don't think men i treated this way.😢
In community of property is not a good choice, it’s not that you don’t love each other, rather you are protecting each other
Exactly 🙌
I will never advise my daughter to marry in community of property....
I can relate. My husband of 9 years passed on last year Sep 2023. Hasnt been easy - keeping sane for my little girl. Hectic...

I am so shocked I thought such stigmatization was left in the past
It's like she's telling my story the loss, the stigma, the strengh for my kids, suicidal thoughts we continue to grieve but we keep moving one step at a time one day at a time...
Very heartbreaking.. I was never married but I lost a lover .. our son was 5 months old…7 years later it’s still hurt 😢
I went through the healing process alone, but I know God was with me
Im still questioning covid vaccines to this day🤞💔... People are still dying mysteriously... If u ask what happened "he/she just fell"...a lot has happened during vaccines and post vax. Beautiful interview, two beautiful women... Madam Speaker ua a safe space for a lot of people❤👌
