Says he not sexist towards women but then immediately uses “girl” as an insult. As if a man being feminine or “acting like a girl” is wrong or weak. Hmm.....Definitely not a misogynist.
@@sh4lin1 It would most likely be a sarcastic response to toxic masculinity like "Hey friend I need you to explain to me like a 'weak emotional girl' why you're feeling so depressed this week, I want to help you out and I'm not going to tell you to just 'toughen up' like the other guys." This probably doesn't sound good but you're asking me to invent a clever comeback out of thin air.
The fact that misogyny is so normalized, ESPECIALLY in the gaming community, is gross. Grown men are on twitch using “b*tch” as a synonym for woman, and displaying that sort of behavior to their young/teen audiences who will 9/10 do what they do. It’s disgusting.
I love how Jason literally said, "I'm not a misogynist, so you shouldn't act like a girl (derogatory) by not backing me up on that." Like... you're not helping your case here, my guy.
christ, that jason r guy is really… insufferable??? "you were supposed to be a friend of mine" that doesnt mean he has to defend **every. single. thing** u do like.. 😭😭
Just a small shout out to tarik, literally never heard of him before but his reaction to this was amazing. 'i don't know why you dodge girls in queue but it's WEIRD' amen lmao
When I was 14-15 i got doxxed for the first time. I wasn’t a huge creator, i was a little girl who rejected a man’s advances. I was swatted 4 times, pizza sent to my house, my grandmothers bank account was hacked, someone called my school and reported i was sh-ing in the bathroom, had inappropriate packages show up to my house, i was threatened with that same dox for years to come. It doesn’t matter your age or fanbase size, doxxing can harm anyone.
"i had a bad day" IS NOT AN EXCUSE. it will NEVER be an excuse in any case. wether it's racism, misogyny, ableism, homophobia or whatever, even a crime, ITS NOT AN EXCUSE!
There's even more clips of ishowspeed saying disgusting things to women. The one that sticks with me since I've seen it is where he's on stream video calling a female streamer, asks her if they were the last two people on earth would she have sex with him. When she says no (because obviously) he says "who's gonna stop me?" He kept repeating it, it was super gross, basically saying he would r*pe her if no one was around to stop him. I don't know how old the clips are, or if he has made some kind of response or apology for those in particular, but major red flags and just gross as hell.
omg thats video comes to mind whenever i think of ishspeed its less than a year old and the way his fans excuse his behaviour is unbelivabe I belive at a certain age everyinthing you say or do is a CHOICE.

big ups to tarik to standing up to his “friend.” men calling other men on their misogynistic bullshit is vital, and he did a great job both explaining his stance and standing his ground.
Idk if JasonR is a misogynist but the reason he doesnt play with women is because of something with his wife. From what i've heard his wife doesnt like him talking to other women at all, this was a thing a few years back as well I think
@@hampusjohansson2497 considering he used girl as an insult and lost his shit instead of just explaining or leaving at least implies that he probably is a misogynist 🤨
The rage and hatred in ISHOWSPEED's eyes when he was yelling about 'females' is terrifying. I've never seen such vile hatred, genuinely made me uncomfortable and scared. Fuck that.
I'm a female and I've experienced sexism in my life. It didn't make me racist. I've never been like, "I've been discriminated against, so I'm going to go discriminate against someone else." I'm not sure how people posting racist things makes someone turn to, "All women are bitches." But that's just me. 🤷♀
yeah its almost like women got their rights last. smh. really anyone can be any kind of -ist. hell even some women somehow manage to be sexist against their own sex
I'm sorry I don't know why but hearing 'im female and I've experienced sexism in my life' made me cackle 😭 i think its just because its something that usually goes unsaid (because every woman experiences it). Also ur comment is 100% !!!
And some of us are women and black so you can imagine how much of a stretch his argumentation is. We deal with racism and sexism. What he said hurts us as much or even more because his part of our community. It's a lame excuse from an emotionally stunted boy. A misogynistic one at that.
That Jason R argument with his friend was jaw dropping. It is a clear demonstration of how this unspoken "bro code" works and how sexism and misogyny keep being perpetuated and normalized. It's kinda scary tbh.
Cant speak for others and obviously for other countries, but where im from, if my friends see me being sexist towards a woman, racist towards a black dude or anything else that is highly disgusting behaviour, I would get my ass beat by them. So i dont think the bro code means always supporting ur friends no matter the fucked up shit they do, maybe in the US it does idk, but most dudes would get their ass beat id imagine
Yeah bro code is like “dewd dont SNITCH on me if i MURDER a [slur] bcus thats GAY and FEMALW behavior AUGH” Girl code is “protect and love eachother ❤”
@@Kenos444 I'm not from the US and I've seen this kind of thing happening over and over again throughout my life. Both in my personal life and in media. Maybe you just don't notice because it doesn't directly affect you, but it doesn't mean it doesn't happen. Misogyny is incredibly prevalent worldwide, women and girls die every single day because of it. I think it's kinda tone-deaf to say "most dudes would get their ass beat" for saying sexist shit. If that was true, then we wouldn't have systemic misogyny and sexism.. still
@@mariana9991 No im aware sexism happens all the time but simplifying it by saying the "bro code" is the same as not snitching on ur bois no matter the situation is totally wrong. That only applies to the trash of society and not the average person. Ik that a lot of dudes probably told you "you ugly anyway" after u rejected them, but thats not a problem only men have. Most girls will tell a dude who rejects them "i bet u gay as hell anyway" so lets not act like its an issue where solely men are to blame. We all are and we need to grow tf up out of that immature behaviour. Like, look at Moss boss's reply, it seems like they have never interacted with a man in their whole life and 30 people liked that comment. Both parties are to blame and need to do better. Honestly, seeing Jason's friend talk to him and being like "no, I'm not going to defend you, I don't know if you're sexist" made me happy and hopeful for the future. Idk, gamergate was not too long ago, and there are still so many online misogynists like Fresh and Fit, but to see a normal adult man just shut down someone who he considered his friend just made me so happy and hopeful.
Absolutely this. Some friend groups tend to be very toxic in the sense that you're all the best of friends as long as you let everyone say and behave however they want whenever they want with no backlash. If one of these people *does* speak up then it's just because they're too "sensitive", "can't take a joke" or they're "a simp". This tends to be most prevalent in men's circles. I was talking about this with my brother and he said it wasn't true because a group of men he knew "supportively" dog-piled on a woman (that only one of them had ever met) for "playing games" because she didn't think it was working out romantically with the guy she was dating. Like, dude, that's not a supportive friend group. It's easy to trash talk people you don't know. What's hard (but a sign of *genuine* friendship) is when genuine criticism can be given and received without ending said friendship.
@@stop-- reading this, they just sound so immature and tribalistic. I’ve been there actually. Tarik is a great dude. He was a pro CSGO player for Cloud9 before whatever he does now. He was the tournament MVP for their huge Eleague Major win in 2018 and I still remember how crazy and exciting that was as a fan. Glad to see he's a stand-up guy outside the game too.
Yes! I’ve heard of Tarik before but I never really watched him or had an opinion on him but my respect for him really grew from this! I’m glad he stuck to it and didn’t just defend his friend because he was a friend.
As a young girl and a past fan of Ishowspeed it’s scary seeing someone I watch and think is funny shout at a women for simply talking. The ishowspeed dude has an even worse moment where he asked a woman on a dating stream if they were the last two on earth - if she would bang him. She said no. He then went on a rampage of saying “who’s gonna stop me?” Over and over and over It was disturbing.

I think The Jason situation is a perfect example of how men can really help with the fight against the patriarchy and misogyny. Call out your male friends and take accountability. Men listen to men. I honestly think this is why so many people were against Jason is because men were against it and therefore other men followed which is great we need this more.
Agreed!! It's definitely frustrating that it takes MEN standing up against misogyny for other men to listen, but I truly appreciate the guys who called JasonR out, especially Tarik since they were friends. gives me a lot of hope.

Ishowspeed is such a problem. His whole fan group of 13 year old boys who don’t know how to act, or treat people with respect are the worst community ever. Jesus, iShowSpeed went from a streamer who's known for playing 'Talking Ben', to people saying he needs to seek help because he's been streaming too much, to such an aggressive guy people need to avoid.
the ishowspeed video scared me.. he's so violently angry towards women, it's not because he's young or is experiencing racism, it's just pure hatred and sexism.
He doesn't actually have any hate towards women etc. It's like filthy frank. Ishowspeed is a character of which he uses to entertain his audience. Now him being misogynistic, etc isn't cool. And him playing a character is no excuse but the real issue here is the stress of being so young and so popular and feeling like u have to top every crazy thing u say with something crazier to keep the popularity around. The girl and her friends were also very racist in the game so I highly doubt she was upset by what he said. I Also find it weird how we just assume the girl was innocent without looking for further context other than the short clip we are shown. Gamers in general male or female are very toxic. This situation isn't one of the situations where speed lashed out on a woman just minding her business playing the game. She was racist he was misogynistic I'd say they are even this time around
No nigga, he is 17. You want him to be perfect when his audience ridicules him over everything he does, and mocks him for having a dead aunt. He's probably sad and now we doing this to him bro
His fanbase is worse than him I see alot of clips of his fans purposefully trying to get him pissed off or sometimes try to make him cry by saying insensitive stuff, I lowkey think he needs to go to therapy. Hes funny sometimes, but most of the time he's really bad
There is absolutely NO WAY that that first thing wasn't him drawing blackface. That's so fucking stereotypical there's no way in hell it was an accident
i think he started it as blackface and did the lips and then in his mind realized, "shit i probably shouldn't do this" and went with the joker but was too stupid to realize that that makes it worse. Also i like to imagine him watching the clip multiple times over to see what he could say the guy resembles as a coverup. he's just sitting there like, "i could say i was trying to do the poop emoji, nope that's even worse, WAIT i got it, i could say i was doing mr potato head!!!!"
You may disagree with me but I don't think Soda drew the blackface out of blatant racism, but moreso out of being a complete idiot and not thinking about what he was doing. The mr. potato shit was obviously bull and a hilariously bad excuse. That being said, this does show his racist tendancies. Implicit or not.
ishowspeed has been enabled from the start. He's been live cussing out his mom, threatening girls who reject him, cussing out women, going on e-dates where he lies about his age(he was 16) and sending harrassment to his ex's. But the people I get most angry at are the adult men who go on these e-dates with him, see that he's a young, ignorant kid with extremely warped morals, and still give him the clout and push he needs to gain a larger fanbase.
womp womp, he literally acts like that with everyone lol, also when women are toxic to men y'all are saying "YeAH sLaY quEeN", but when the roles are reversed y'all cry.
I think it's cause his fanbase consists of a bunch 'edglord' teenagers who will defend him no matter what.. also many people only know him from the short memes like the ben ones & dont actually watch his streams so without knowing full context they would probably defend him since he's grown popular thanks to memes
Wait fr???? I thought he was like playing a persona type thing n found him funny during the ben and angela and tom stuff but I haven't seen anything outside of those streams.
right?? in fact the first clip of him i ever saw was that one rape joke where he was like “who gon stop me” and i remember being like “wtf is wrong with this guy??” and everyone just laughed it off as a joke and i was so pissed off
@@lolaishotasf I saw a clip like that. It really didn’t come across as a joke since the woman he was saying it to didn’t seem to be in on it or amused, and he just started repeating it more loudly and with a more aggressive tone. It creeped me out but I think making people feel uncomfortable and potentially even unsafe is the intent of such “jokes”.
“Jason sees women as different people when he plays video games because he can’t disconnect the way he sees the entire gender romantically and sexually“ holy cow, well-stated
I was a fan of speed for ages he was pretty funny, but with the rape jokes, mysoginy, the horrible fan base and being a bit homophobic I stopped supporting him. Also most of the guys in my year at school are fans of him and honestly I’ve noticed them being worse to women and about the LGBTQ+ community. I don’t think speed understands the influence he has on people.
@PATRICK "He's got a sister and a mother, therefore, he can't be mysoginistic." Everyone has a mother. If not, we wouldn't be biologically born. That argument is weaker than wet paper. As for when he's been mysoginistic. Just the clips put in this video are enough evidence. The way he reffers to women as "females" is a common convention in incel dialect. The use of the tired old joke of washing dishes and the comment of "If you're a female on this server, you should bow down" are comments that indicate an idea that women should be subservient and relegated to house-keeping activities, a belief held by incels.
The amount of misogyny in the gaming sphere is insane. And then gamers wonder why "normies" don't take them seriously and label them as women-hating basement dwellers. Dude... it's because you are.
and then they go off saying that women “have it easier” in game lobbies etc. or that “misogyny doesn’t exist” but they don’t see it because they are the ones being misogynistic and sh*t talking at women on a game for no apparent reason. it really sucks
And then when women talk about how so many men In the gaming community are misogynistic they go “not all men” it’s a hell lot of men that’s for sure id even say majority
dream, no matter his stance on doxxing, should NOT be directly tagging accs (especially smaller ones) knowing that his fan base has an issue with doxxing. he should know as a larger creator that not everyone is gonna like him, and if he acts like this every time someone tries to critique or speak against him i’m not so sure he should have that large of a platform
Whether or not Dream is malicious, it can’t be glossed over that he’s insanely irresponsible with his power. Kinda makes a huge part of his DSMP character where it’s “abuses/manipulate the child members in the server to get his way” feels like a very weird power fantasy when you see his tweets about how he feels satisfied when people private their accounts.
@@SNK_LRD This, & the superiority complex aspect of his character... Are uh... REALLY starting to seem like they're not just fictional character traits.
Ishowspeed does what i'm most scared of. I feel grossed out just hearing him scream. I love to play video games and i'm in a lot of sports team like baseball and football that are mostly dominated by men. I always play in mix teams as i find it fun to have a diverse team but when ever i hear a guy on the other team pass comments at me saying of course the girl is bad. For every little mess up i do, it stresses me out cause now what ever i do all they'll see me as the proof "woman are weak". Can't we women just be treated as humans. We aren't below men, we are humans like them. (Btw i know not every guy is like that)
Wait. Wasn’t IShowSpeed in this twitch dating game where he was incredibly sexist (and threatened r*pe) towards the woman who said she wouldn’t have sex with him if they were the only two people on earth?
Yeah.. that happened. Way before all of this stuff too, and while lots of people do care and try to call him out, I notice they're usually blocked out by Speed's fans
That question is so stupid cause ur kids would have to have kids with eachother. He should just say: U interested in me? And if she said no, he should’ve moved on.
As someone who used to be a dream stan, I think everyone knows that what he’s doing is irresponsible and simply not okay. Most of the fans defending him are only doing so because they think way too highly of the man
yeah same here, the worst part is that he’s not necessarily a terrible person, but it’s gotten to a point where he’s stupid with his fame and he knows the power he holds against anyone against him
i agree with you and the person who commented above me, i hope one day he takes at least a year break from the internet and start to realize and maybe manage his fanbase more maturely rather than letting them loose like a bunch of wild ass dogs attacking and barking at people

Also, I'd like to point out that BEING doxed counts as "something happening." Sure, it's not the same as some stalker slashing your tires or whatever, but it's still not only 1) illegal (at least in the US) but also 2) incredibly harmful, mentally and physically, EVEN IF nothing else happens. Knowing that your personal information -- name, age, location, etc. -- is publicly available is _unbelievably_ traumatizing. I feel like a lot of people who haven't been on the receiving end of doxing underestimate how fucking soul-destroying it can be. And, to be honest, in many ways it's _worse_ when you only have "like seven followers," because then you also don't have a huge fanbase that's mostly supportive.
Unfortunately doxxing is technically not illegal if the information is publicly available. If the person’s social security number is posted, then yes, it is illegal. But full name, address, phone number-unfortunately completely legal to post. There are tons of background check sites and other types of directories that have people’s personal info publicly available. Definitely not saying I agree with any of this btw
This is going to sound really bad (only talking about the first point btw), but like someone else pointed out, it depends how you got doxxed. I recommend reading about OSINT, a really scary and creepy field that's 100% legal, and chances are most people get doxxed just from this, there is really no need for ilegal stuff. As for the last part (the worse one), and talking about real danger its true you don't get support but since you are not an "onlice figure" people don't care about you, they "scare you off" (traumatize you, as you said) and then move on. If you are a public figure (yes, even with a bunch of supporters) then your risk its like x1000, because there are people who actually hate you and want to hurt you and get obsessive with you, ex: that team of doxxers who harrassed Dream back in 2020/21 for months and keep on spreading his info on trending #'s, and till this day there are people who keep on trying to find more stuff on him bc of how much they hate him (obsessive / stalkerish). I don't think its worse for someone who can delete the acc and made another one (and chances are the doxxers don't care at this point) vs someone who has an online presence, just my opinion obviously. Psychologically i don't think its fair to compare tho so im not going to, everyone is different on the way they take this kind of stuff, some get hit really hard and others just take some days off and move on, regardless of their following/support.
the fact that doxxing exists is why i always try to avoid posting real info about myself as much as possible, cant get doxxed if they have no real info to find me with
Especially because non-millionares can't move, can't hire security etc. (Also as a queer person and a woman, I'd be so scared if all my info was just out there)
“I was having a bad day” okay cool, when im having a bad day i dont go around saying misogynistic or racist or homophobic shit. If you say shit like that you are more than likely sexis/racist/homophonic. When im having a bad day i am irritable but id never ever say anything like that. It’s a bullshit excuse.
Fr, if I’m mad and feel like I’m gonna lash out at someone I just go to my room to cool off or if it’s really _that_ bad I take it out by hitting a pillow and jumping around or something. There are so many things to do when you’re having a bad day to get your emotions out in a healthy way that doesn’t hurt anyone. Being young isn’t an excuse either bc I’m younger than Speed and I don’t start spewing bigoted bullshit when I’ve had a bad day, never have, and neither does anyone I know that’s my age. It’s just bullshit
As a girl who has just started gaming recently, I’ve never experienced so much blatant sexism and verbal abuse related to my gender… also pretty much every other game I also get guys rage quitting if they literally miss one shot against me, or guys just quitting the game when they see they’re on a team with me…
I had a guy who is pfp on discord was of himself shirtless and he tried so hard to get me to compliment him. I've had dudes who during a raid in Destiny 2 ignore me when I try to explain to them how the game works, the worst is this dude flat out ignored me, and it took my friend who is a dude for him to actually listen to me. I think the worst was when a group of dudes told me my existence wasn't needed. Like my whole self was a waste. All because they didn't want to listen to me. That was definitely the run that broke me for a bit, now if a dude said that I'd kick them but man it always hurts the first time around.
Jason mentioning he "was not a good person to his wife" reveals so much. He obviously cheated on her and blames the situation/the women instead of himself. He doesn't want to talk to women bc he thinks he would start inappropriately talking to other women again.

honestly, I've been a fan of ishowspeed for about a month, and I've been realizing the jokes he started making about rap*ng little girls and sexist "jokes" in his recent videos i just went over. then later (i just seen this,) he makes an apology for those things, brings up about 7 excuses, says he is making no excuses, then CONTINUES to talk, constantly, about rap*ng girls and sexist remarks towards women just because they are a woman. As a woman myself hearing this come from such a hugely loved creator makes me incredibly sad. This is disgusting behavior to show to people online, knowing that you have female fans, even if you don't. This is literally so fucked up and I HOPE the gaming community and society open their eyes and realizes this and stops supporting him. if I wouldn't have come across this ONE video talking about this, I would continue supporting him, thank you for making this video and making people and women fans of him pay attention to this.
"he makes an apology for those things, brings up about 7 excuses, says he is making no excuses, then CONTINUES to talk" he said he didnt WANT to make excuses never said he wasnt going to lol
To say the dude is loved is a real stretch. His community is unbelievably toxic, and they troll him as much as they troll people who attack him. When he said in his apology video that he was getting fucked up donations I had no trouble believing it. His entire channel is a negative feedback loop that causes him and his community to become more toxic people the longer they hang around each other. He arguably has one of the strangest relationships with his chat I've ever seen, it's truly bizarre and very disturbed.

For the record, nearly anyone gets scared by yelling (or at least uncomfortable). That's why people yell; it's to assert dominance over the "weak". When you get scared by yelling, that's normal. I am very noise sensitive AND I have an auditory processing disorder, not to mention I have MDD, nightly panic attacks, anxiety, and.. well I don't have to list them out like Pokemon, it's not that big of a deal and frankly it's unimportant. So just because I didn't like something you said doesn't mean I'm magically free of all disorders. Regardless, yes, it is normal to get anxious when you hear someone yell or scream, even from far away. That's actually an appropriate response. If you heard someone scream and you didn't worry, I'd be a little suspicious. However, if you're having anxiety ATTACKS from something like that, then you just have bad anxiety. It has nothing to do with autism. You may have some deeper trauma related to screaming/yelling, or you might be overly anxious (because anxiety does that sometimes lmao) which can lead to paranoia in such cases. Autism can increase your anxiety levels, but the fear of yelling is only directly linked to the anxiety, not the autism. If screaming/yelling is a noise trigger that causes you to behave irrationally and lash out (like those who are more affected by autism), then THAT would be an autistic trait. Some people with autism aren't able to function or mask the same way most neurotypical people do, and certain noises can cause them to react aggressively. As an example, I have an autistic cousin and he's mostly nonverbal, and hearing sirens can cause him to be very aggressive and hit people, which is a symptom of his autism. To put it simply, you are not exhibiting autistic behavior in this particular circumstance UNLESS you are specifically reacting in a way that is a genuine autistic trait. If that makes sense.
@@nomoretwitterhandles If you don't have autism, then why the hell are you explaining autism to somebody who is autistic. It's so fucking douchey and patronizing when people do this shit to us. Like honestly, it drives me fucking NUTS when non-autistic people think they know more about us than we do. Just because you have an autistic cousin and you're not neurotypical does not mean you know more about autism than ACTUAL AUTISTIC PEOPLE. How would you like it if a NT person explained all of your symptoms to you like a child, while making wild assumptions about their life. Also; nobody is self diagnosing off of a tiktok video or youtube comment. If you were actually part of the autistic community or knew anything about it, then you would know that self-diagnosis is widly accepted and valid (AFTER someone does years worth of research on it, and learning about themselves). You're also showing BLATANT ableism in your comment, saying "If screaming/yelling is a noise trigger that would cause you to behave irrationally or lash out, that would be an autistic symptom". This is incredibly insulting, and just untrue. Overstimulation and sound sensitivities can CAUSE panic attacks, and while some autistic people may lash out, not all of us are the same. Some of us might just cover our ears, or not react at all due to masking. Also, they are referred to as autistic TRAITS. Not SYMPTOMS. Also, it's a spectrum. Y'know, in the name. Not every autistic person is going to react the same way to certain stimulus. There is no rigid one way that autistic traits will present, it's different in everyone. STOP SPEAKING FOR AUTISTIC PEOPLE STOP ASSUMING YOU KNOW MORE ABOUT AUTISM THAN AUTSTIC PEOPLE This was INCREDIBLY offensive and ableist, and you were incorrect in multiple instances. Speaking as an autistic person who is studying autism in college.

Speeds fanbase if fu**Ing insane! 💀 I don't gaf if he's "young" or "still learning", he's is still an influencer with an audience so he should take responsibility for the stuff that comes out of his mouth, and only if someone was rude to you doesn't give you a right to act like that Infront of millions of people who are mostly impressionable kids. He has anger issues that he needs to take care of privately and not rage Infront of millions. He overall sucks as an influencer and to be frank he isn't even funny either. He needs therapy and raging at people on random servers isn't the way to do it. He's fan base is quite toxic as well
I’m pretty sure I’m about a year younger than him and I’ve never been so embarrassed about someone being this aggressive and sexist so boldly. The fact that most people my age and even younger knows how to act and what to say , and the fact that he is using that as an excuse is beyond me , he knows what he’s saying is wrong and I’d like to see what his mother thinks about his nasty words😝
@Galactic Galaxy someone younger than 13-14 I would consider a kid, and for those who ppl say are “still young and learning” I’d say 14-19. But after that and even for 17-19 year olds it feels like they should right from wrong by then
the fact that people are genuinely afraid of saying anything against dream or even something that might be inconvenient in some way, speaks for itself that dream's community is not as great as it could be. of course not everyone is bad, most of them are great, im sure. however they have the ability to dox people and had done so in the past. in every community you can find people who are simply toxic and this one isn't different. i don't believe dream meant any harm but he definitely should be more considerate of his stans. sure, he can't control them and if they do something bad, it's not directly his fault. yet, every content creator should be aware of their influence
absolutely. like you said every fandom is toxic to a certain extent and that's exacerbated by how big the fandom is as well. being that big of a content creator comes with at least some responsibility over your fanbase
Dream's approach to his fanbase's problems hasn't been done wholeheartedly. I'm not saying that he didn't try, but alot of his talks on stream about them have just been very passive. Like telling a kis,"oh know, don't do that."while not looking at your toddler jump off the roof. He may disavow the people who dox others on his behalf, but they still watch and worship him. I think the age of his fanbase is a part of this problem and it will get better as they grow older, but right now, he needs to step up and admit that he has control over what his audience does. Not his fans, his audience.
@@anothercub6958 absolutely, but there's not much he CAN do besides saying he does not condone that type of behavior. all he could start doing differently is probably adress these situations by talking about his personal experience getting doxxed? i don't know if it would work, but it's definitely an attempt

Jason not only refuses to play with women, but also bans them from his stream if he notices. And the whole thing about respecting his wife is bullshit, he was caught liking pictures of women in lingerie on twitter.
also the fact that you have to be afraid of making a video talking about someone because of how unpredictable the fans around them is, is a problem in itself and i think that creators need to do what you’re doing and let their fans know that there are boundaries that shouldn’t be crossed. i think you did a great job with the stories and explaining both sides, thank you nick :)
I'm just wondering, what do you think Dream can do to better prevent this from happening? He's already talked about how much he disapproves of harassing etc. People multiple times, and ultimately a CC only has a certain amount of control over their fanbase/ whoes in it (not to excuse his actions i just mean in general). What else do you think he could do?
@@S.mu8yz Genuinely? I feel like setting more boundaries for himself would be the best way to help control the fanbase. In my experience, people learn to respect boundaries from the people around them, and since many of his fans are pretty young and probably still learning how to act on the internet, that would help them realize that there ARE lines that cannot be crossed. Dream would probably do pretty well with an older/more experienced fanbase that knows what is and is not alright to do. A lot of the time he kinda reminds me of something I'm currently working on - learning to say no to people, or just outright tell them they are making me uncomfortable, but without letting my emotions control me (ADHD does not make that skill easier to learn).
@@lilia3944 can you clarify a bit what you mean by boundaries? I feel like he's pretty good at setting boundaries for himself. And I totally get that 😭 BP and ADHD can both make it difficult.
@@S.mu8yz Oh yeah I didn't really mean boundaries for what he does or doesn't want to do, but maybe for his fans? It sounds kind of strange because if he's okay with them making a large range of content about him then that should of course be fine, but a lot of those people seem to think that they can act like that in other fandoms or towards other fans, which of course isn't the case bc if someone hasn't said they're comfortable with something then it should be assumed they are not. That being said, of course he shouldn't have to, like, parent his fans, "how to not act like a moron on the internet" should honestly just be a school subject at this point.
@@S.mu8yz Dream might not actively be telling his fans to go harass people, but he needs to recognize that his audience is very VERY young and will act on any opinions he chooses to share. I feel like a big issue is that dream never ever takes accountability. Yes, he can’t control his fans, but he constantly enables them (by directly @ing and such). Dream’s sexuality is whatever, no body cares who he likes and nobody is genuinely upset with that. But when you have such a large platform and are constantly ambiguous about it, it definitely comes off as queer baiting. It feeds into the fandom hivemind that shipping two real people is okay and contributes to a bunch of fetishization of other queer people. Its just not cool when people use your sexuality as a tool to fuel their fans.
hes basically saying "i could be i could not be" for more views. I think he likes the fact it makes the fandom buzz. honestly i think he even enjoys the crazy fan art, fanfiction, and shipping bc it gives him more views and money.
Queerbaiting is a HUGE thing in the Minecraft streamer community. I don't even follow that community (at all) yet I still get news near weekly about a new (or old) one teasing about their sexuality. It feels so manipulative, especially since most of their fans are just little girls who have toxic yaoi obsessions.

Huge props to Tarik for standing up against Jason like that. But Tarik did what he knew to be right, even if it meant betraying his “friend”, which I find very admirable 👏
I think the "I've never been so scared to talk about a creator as much as this guy" kinda speaks for itself. That's proof enough with just how you feel that the whole situation is fucked. The fact that anyone who speaks even close to what could be considered as "negitivly" about him are scared to do so because of his fanbase. Like. I enjoy the DSMP! I keep up with the other CCs in it! But *everyone* is scared of him and his fans because of how they act and the image they've made for themselves. It's honestly insane that there could be a group of *that* many people who are like that, and think acting like that is ok or "quirky" or "cute" or whatever they think they are by acting like that. I just cant wrap my head around it.
I think the main reason his fans tend to be so reactive to any criticism is because there have been so many time where stuff labeled as "criticism" was really just mindless hate and a ton of misinformation. It is really easy to be very defensive when that is what you're used to. The truth is, a ton of Dream stans are just as scared as everyone else, but for the reason of liking Dream, not criticizing him.
This is just speculation but I honestly think dream enjoys that power. He likes that he has an army of underlings that will harm other at his behest. Despite him never directly supporting their behaviour it’s obvious he doesn’t completely object, he seems to implicitly encourage it
@@Grace-uk9er That's no excuse to attack and harass someone, especially since Dream will always be far more influential than almost any person online that criticises him. Do people like to hate on Dream? Yes, because he did a lot of things to make himself hateable, such as his entire conduct during the cheating scandal which can be surmised as "shitty" to say the least. Dream stans are very aggressive, parasocial children, and although Dream can afford to have a smaller income than he does right now, which would be a consequence of taking serious action to pacify and perhaps even rectify his fanbase's behaviour, he chooses not to. What does that say about him as a streamer and person? Nothing flattering, that's for sure.
@@teethcoat4274 I never said it was an excuse. It was a reason. And for all the harassment that Dream antis face, there is just as much that Dream stans face. You seem to be under the impression that when it comes to Dream stans harassing people that Dream is just silent on the matter. News flash: that is the opposite of the truth, at any point it is relevant, Dream tells people not to harass other people, even ones who hate him. He is well aware of how volatile his fandom is, and he does his best to combat that. So what more do you want him to do? Lie down and play dead when thousands of accounts are harassing and threatening him? It’s really a very normal thing to do to defend yourself in that scenario. Plus, he does have adhd and part of that is being impulsive. Sure you can do stuff to combat that, but to some extent, as much as someone with adhd may try to stop it, they will still make impulsive decisions. He’s made tweets without thinking before that has set off his fandom. Nothing for the most part that was really out of line, but he recognized that his tweet did more harm than good and deleted it. That’s not to say that he can’t defend himself, cause he’s perfectly within his right to do so. The thing I wonder about is if Dream antis have ever had a lesson in internet safety. Do they know that if their account is public, anyone can respond to it? They should know that if their account is public that it is on them to if someone with a large following reply’s to them, for good or for ill. Not to say that those who have been harassed by Dream stans deserve it, cause no one deserves harassment, even those who started the harassment. But they know what they’re getting themselves into. And yeah, Dream has done some dumb things in the past and a lot of people hate him for it, but I’m not going to really get into that cause it’d take too long. But I think he’s a good person and so do lots of other people. And at the end of the day, he’s just a guy. Maybe have a little empathy for a change.
the gaming community has some serious sexism and it needs to be fixed, people should just play games and have fun without demeaning someone's entire existence

Men need to step up and call this shit out, it's not okay, and just because it's commonplace doesn't mean it should be ignored. Before I was on HRT, I literally would pretend to be a chick, even though I'm a dude, because I knew making a good impression of women in gaming was for the better for a lot of the folks who were more ignorant about women in gaming and were treating it like a spectacle. If I seemed serious and like I knew a lot about gaming, they'd get the idea that women aren't shit at gaming and that women do exist who like gaming. He doesn't actually have any hate towards women etc. It's like filthy frank. Ishowspeed is a character of which he uses to entertain his audience. Now him being misogynistic, etc isn't cool. The girl and her friends were also very racist in the game so I highly doubt she was upset by what he said. I Also find it weird how we just assume the girl was innocent without looking for further context other than the short clip we are shown. Gamers in general male or female are very toxic. i agree with your takes! imo saying Real Life People are “queerbaiting” by being vague about their sexuality is just incorrect. real people don’t owe anyone an explanation about their sexuality, and everyone has personal reasons for wanting or not wanting to come out. they also could have just not figured themselves out yet! i said a lot of rly gay shit back when i thought i was straight. i wasn’t “queerbaiting” anyone, I was just being a person trying to figure themself out.
yess I feel like people don't truly understand the word queerbaiting it's making the LGBT fans think they're going to get some representation whilst maintaining homophobic fans and like how often do you see a homophobic dream stan?
Here's a video that shows My point if you dont mind watching th-cam.com/video/3umRD7SOUNw/w-d-xo.html As a queer person it just bothers me when people claim Real life people cant queerbait when thats not completely True.
i mean its not just about being vague about your sexuality its about making it part of your Brand™ and making money off of it. i think its pretty undeniable that a large part of dreams fans are his fans bc of his dynamic with his friends and part of that dynamic is the "will they wont they" thing with george. he encourages people to make fanart of them, explicit or otherwise, and there is pretty often an uproar about dream or george acknowledging dnf in some way. that gains him attention which means more fans which means more potential revenue in the form of views and merch purchases. regardless of whether or not hes actually gay is a business strategy first and foremost. theres nothing wrong with having jokes about being gay with your friends but its different when people being actively invested in you and your relationships is a form of revenue generation
forgive me if i'm making too bold of an assumption, but i don't think you had the platform and influence and power that dream currently has, back when you were figuring yourself out. talking to friends is one thing, that's human to human connection, that's friendship. talking to millions of people who look up to you is a different thing. if dream is genuinely trying to figure out his sexuality, he has the choice to do that privately. or at least not tweet about it. but by publicizing this vague concept of "maybe he's queer", he is making that into a performance for millions of people. he is deliberately trying to call attention to this vague concept because he knows that will garner more attention. imo whether or not that fits your personal definition of "queerbaiting" is semantics. he is profiting in the form of attention, likes, views, and money by being intentionally vague in an extremely public way. he is using queerness and the ever-present hope of representation in media that many LGBTQ+ people have, for personal gain. tbh all i know about dream is what was in this video and what i've read in the comments, and eli uwu here is furthering the point i'm trying to make. it is a business strategy. the purpose is not figuring himself out. the purpose is profit.
idk, bi myself, and I don't think using "ohhh maybe I'm bi though" as a shield when people are hurt by your words is okay. Like it doesn't matter what your sexuality is. If someone thinks you're being homophobic, maybe just apologize and try not to make comments that can be taken out of context and hurt people? Going "wow some men are kinda hot though" is not an appropriate response. And maybe you should care about that a little cuz it's kinda messed up. Especially since there are honestly a lot of people who pretend to be LGBT to bait LGBT people into doing certain things for them. Just because you are super gay doesn't mean you can't make a comment that is insensitive or harmful to another gay person.
Holy shit the speed video was actually scary, idgaf if i sound like a baby, but it actually is so upsetting to hear and then to hear him use excuses instead of taking accountability, and actually apologize. Men yelling are so scary is2g
I feel you, I’ve had some particular problems with anyone yelling and him yelling made me feel fear, even when I’m not a woman, that must be so upsetting and crushing for that poor girl, i really hope she can recover from it.
also even if that newer tweet abt queerbaiting wasnt queerbaiting he already said in a tweet something like "me and george pretend to be gay but we arent" or something
That guys sexism is hysterical. It actually made me laugh at how stupid and self unaware he is. One of the most self owning things I've ever heard. Him-"how dare you not defend me against allegations that I'm a sexist." His friend-"i don't condone that behavior and have seen you be sexist." Him-"well, you don't have to be a girl about it."
Yep , the thing is most of his fan base are between 9-12 so the way he tries to be funny is to get kids to laugh and shit , but it just goes too far and I’d go as far as to say his aggression and words could offended every woman. I’m regard to the racist comment excuse; he dose get a lot of rude shitty racism in his stream , but coming from someone who has had racist words thrown at them and seen racism first hand NOTHING would make me lash out as confidently and violently against a group of ppl that has nothing to do with the racism . It makes me rlly feel lll and embarrassed for him and anyone who supports his barbaric behaviour
This is why I, a woman who greatly enjoys video games, never play online games and why I'm also very particular about which videogame TH-camrs I follow. Toxic gamers are to be found everywhere, but some channels, especially smaller ones, have a relatively wholesome and welcoming community.
I’m genuinely scared that 99% of the guys in my school watch and support ishowspeed and they feel like it’s normal to talk and behave that way, yet the moment a girl speaks they get so personally offended and go insane
Fr ! It's like they can't even think on their own. Haven't they asked themselves what speed is doing wrong ? Don't they have a mother , sister that they love ? It's scary how easily influenced they are.
as a queer person, dreams gay jokes were just stupid honestly. it doesn’t matter if hes gay behind closed doors, he is not openly queer so the media will automatically see him as straight. he normalizes that shit for straight people to say, and it comes off insensitive seeing somebody who is not queer saying it. ill admit, ive made very similar jokes but i do it near my other queer friends and people who are fully aware im queer. edit: this may pull at some peoples strings but what he said about possibly being gay absolutely can be interpreted as queerbaiting especially if he never intends to reveal his sexuality
@@ghostieink5627 couldn't have said it better myself. he just enables his fans (mostly little kids) to fetishize queer relationships without actually having to go through what queer people go through, and then these kids think its okay to do what they're doing because dream enables it. and the jokes were just so stupid. made me unconfortable, as a queer person.
the way dream emphasized how unlikely it is for a smaller account to get put in harms way from getting doxxed is so....Icky :/ like even if he's been doxxed in the past, wouldn't that make him *more* considerate about the situation and not dismissing it?
I had a mini panic when he said it was Monday cuz I've spent 3 days billing clients and was like "Did I just charge them on the weekend??" so thank for that, Nicki Snot Green.
Yes. Like he's so average in the laziest sense of the word it's painful. Not really a good person. Not really a bad person. With only the littlest bit of effort he could be better or at least an okay enough person. But he won't do that because he likes doing the bare minimum in almost everything. He's lukewarm and wishy-washy unless it interferes with his pride.
I don’t think dream did anything criminal, but there are times where it is annoying how he just kind of looks the other way sometimes. Though I still do think he’s pretty valid.
that Ishowspeed clip was so sad, if that were me I’d literally never want to play valorant again. How low and insecure of a person can you be to yell at someone like that on a game and on stream?

I used to moderate for over a dozen twitch streamers and I’ve had to really back out of the community because of the straight cis men in it. The narcissism they have, the abuse they let their mods take, the toxic people they refuse to stand up to…it’s astounding.
@GreenMayoMan69_ no, I mean what I said. They were all arrogant and that’s fine, I can deal with that. What I couldn’t stand was the remorseless unempathetic manipulation, and exaggerated sense of entitlement. So narcissistic tendencies, not just arrogance.
I'm so sorry what does being cis mean? I don't know and I've never known what it has meant I just pretend to nod along. What does that mean. Also don't be harsh on men, most of the good ones aren't involved in twitch streams like that anyways. I'm a woman but you can find good people in places that aren't social media especially straight men or just people in general. If I search up "Roblox" and click on maybe a somewhat popular game that is goofy or lighthearted in content then the people tend to also be lighthearted. Gaming communities have cool people too!

Psychologically i don't think its fair to compare tho so im not going to, everyone is different on the way they take this kind of stuff, some get hit really hard and others just take some days off and move on, regardless of their following/support.
the fact that doxxing exists is why i always try to avoid posting real info about myself as much as possible, cant get doxxed if they have no real info to find me with
exactly !! if i’m someone with SEVEN followers i’d be extremely fucking freaked out compared to if i had ( however many dream has )

I don't want this to come off as rude, but please stop labeling normal behavior as "autistic". It makes way for self-diagnosers to be like "Oh look, an autistic person gets scared by yelling, I get scared by yelling, therefore I'm autistic!"
Be cautious of what you say online lol.
For the record, nearly anyone gets scared by yelling (or at least uncomfortable). That's why people yell; it's to assert dominance over the "weak". When you get scared by yelling, that's normal. That's human instinct. Your nature is telling you that someone is trying to assert their dominance over you, and you react because you don't like it.
I hope that explains it!
@@nomoretwitterhandles idk if im reading this right because im on 2 edibles rn but are you neurtypical? Because im just saying hearing screaming, even if its from far away and not directed at me, makes me get anxiety attacks. I wanted to know if it was a "normal" response to react to the way he behaved, even knowing i was in no way connected to his anger
@@snakesareprettycoolifyouas756 Then you should clarify as such.
But no, I'm not a neurotypical, and it's kind of douchey for you to assume that (I'm not calling you a douche, but I am telling you to watch what you say because I am personally offended by that assumption).
STOP SPEAKING FOR AUTISTIC PEOPLE STOP ASSUMING YOU KNOW MORE ABOUT AUTISM THAN AUTSTIC PEOPLE
This was INCREDIBLY offensive and ableist, and you were incorrect in multiple instances. Speaking as an autistic person who is studying autism in college.

the fact that people are genuinely afraid of saying anything against dream or even something that might be inconvenient in some way, speaks for itself that dream's community is not as great as it could be. of course not everyone is bad, most of them are great, im sure. however they have the ability to dox people and had done so in the past. in every community you can find people who are simply toxic and this one isn't different. i don't believe dream meant any harm but he definitely should be more considerate of his stans.

absolutely. like you said every fandom is toxic to a certain extent and that's exacerbated by how big the fandom is as well. being that big of a content creator comes with at least some responsibility over your fanbase

Claim the people that do.

Men need to step up and call this shit out, it's not okay, and just because it's commonplace doesn't mean it should be ignored. Before I was on HRT, I literally would pretend to be a chick, even though I'm a dude, because I knew making a good impression of women in gaming was for the better for a lot of the folks who were more ignorant about women in gaming and were treating it like a spectacle. yess I feel like people don't truly understand the word queerbaiting
it's making the LGBT fans think they're going to get some representation whilst maintaining homophobic fans
and like how often do you see a homophobic dream stan?
I Totally get Your Point But real Life people can queerbait Example Music Artist have Used Preformative Bisexuality To push their Careers Foward.
Here's a video that shows My point if you dont mind watching th-cam.com/video/3umRD7SOUNw/w-d-xo.html
As a queer person it just bothers me when people claim Real life people cant queerbait when thats not completely True.
i mean its not just about being vague about your sexuality its about making it part of your Brand™ and making money off of it. i think its pretty undeniable that a large part of dreams fans are his fans bc of his dynamic with his friends and part of that dynamic is the "will they wont they" thing with george. he encourages people to make fanart of them, explicit or otherwise, and there is pretty often an uproar about dream or george acknowledging dnf in some way. that gains him attention which means more fans which means more potential revenue in the form of views and merch purchases. regardless of whether or not hes actually gay is a business strategy first and foremost. theres nothing wrong with having jokes about being gay with your friends but its different when people being actively invested in you and your relationships is a form of revenue generation
forgive me if i'm making too bold of an assumption, but i don't think you had the platform and influence and power that dream currently has, back when you were figuring yourself out. talking to friends is one thing, that's human to human connection, that's friendship. talking to millions of people who look up to you is a different thing. if dream is genuinely trying to figure out his sexuality, he has the choice to do that privately. or at least not tweet about it. but by publicizing this vague concept of "maybe he's queer", he is making that into a performance for millions of people. he is deliberately trying to call attention to this vague concept because he knows that will garner more attention. imo whether or not that fits your personal definition of "queerbaiting" is semantics. he is profiting in the form of attention, likes, views, and money by being intentionally vague in an extremely public way. he is using queerness and the ever-present hope of representation in media that many LGBTQ+ people have, for personal gain.
tbh all i know about dream is what was in this video and what i've read in the comments, and eli uwu here is furthering the point i'm trying to make. it is a business strategy. the purpose is not figuring himself out. the purpose is profit.
idk, bi myself, and I don't think using "ohhh maybe I'm bi though" as a shield when people are hurt by your words is okay.
The video was a couple months ago. He apologized in a later video
@@swishy_bluez that apology sucked he just made excuses
I feel you, I’ve had some particular problems with anyone yelling and him yelling made me feel fear, even when I’m not a woman, that must be so upsetting and crushing for that poor girl, i really hope she can recover from it.
@@swishy_bluez they said “take accountability and actually apologize “ , not spit baby excuses at the camera
Idk it kinda gives me the opposite effect. This dude is screaming at a screen, it’s hilarious, he’s like a baby that hasn’t gotten their milk yet
it's great to see men calling other men out on misogyny, because while i (a Female™) would love to, i also don't want to get murdered
omg i'm gonna use "because i, a Female™," from now on, thanks x 🥰
HAH GOT 'EM YOU JUST GOT FIFTY FIFTY'D
"i wasnt having a good day" i didnt have a good day today either and i didnt turn into a racist did i?
also even if that newer tweet abt queerbaiting wasnt queerbaiting he already said in a tweet something like "me and george pretend to be gay but we arent" or something
If mfs slip out terrible shit cuz they're mad, maybe they shouldn't be streaming games that get them mad. Ugh
That guys sexism is hysterical. It actually made me laugh at how stupid and self unaware he is. One of the most self owning things I've ever heard.
Him-"how dare you not defend me against allegations that I'm a sexist."
His friend-"i don't condone that behavior and have seen you be sexist."
Him-"well, you don't have to be a girl about it."
I don’t think you should let that prevent you from enjoying certain games. You could mute the lobby if they start saying some reckless shit.
@@bbpd5315 that doesnt solve the problem tho
bro probably watches comfort streamers unironically 💀
I’m genuinely scared that 99% of the guys in my school watch and support ishowspeed and they feel like it’s normal to talk and behave that way, yet the moment a girl speaks they get so personally offended and go insane
Fr ! It's like they can't even think on their own.
Haven't they asked themselves what speed is doing wrong ?
Don't they have a mother , sister that they love ? It's scary how easily influenced they are.
as a queer person, dreams gay jokes were just stupid honestly. it doesn’t matter if hes gay behind closed doors, he is not openly queer so the media will automatically see him as straight. he normalizes that shit for straight people to say, and it comes off insensitive seeing somebody who is not queer saying it. ill admit, ive made very similar jokes but i do it near my other queer friends and people who are fully aware im queer.
edit: this may pull at some peoples strings but what he said about possibly being gay absolutely can be interpreted as queerbaiting especially if he never intends to reveal his sexuality
that’s so interesting
he just allows his fans to fetishize mlm and profits off of it without facing and of the opression or hate queer people experience
@@ghostieink5627 THISSSSS!!! literally so fuckin true
He doesn’t have to show his sexuality in order to be gay
the way dream emphasized how unlikely it is for a smaller account to get put in harms way from getting doxxed is so....Icky :/ like even if he's been doxxed in the past, wouldn't that make him *more* considerate about the situation and not dismissing it?
I had a mini panic when he said it was Monday cuz I've spent 3 days billing clients and was like "Did I just charge them on the weekend??" so thank for that, Nicki Snot Green.
Omg, “Nicki Snot Green” took me out😭
nah nicki snot green is bringing me geniune flashbacks lmao
honestly dream isn’t doing anything insanely WRONG, but it’s just so annoying that he never puts effort towards stopping it from happening
wasting swat team time and money is pretty bad idk
How low and insecure of a person can you be to yell at someone like that on a game and on stream?
lol that's literally his character he's playing talking ben and he screams at a fictional character and pretends to be incredibly mad and often punches himself
IShow Speed is probably the worst content creator I've ever seen
That dude need some heavy therapy. I feel sorry for him. He seems so obnoxious, and I get this felling of wanting to swap this like one would a fly to make it stop annoying you. I’m glad I have thicker skin, still doesn’t change the fact that dude is mad annoying and needs to zip it.
@@seanceknowles2911 I agree, at his young age social media has a terrible effect on mental illness
I actually like his content...what has he done??? I just subscribed to him😭
@@j.6267 watch the video bruh
@@j.6267 he’s just really misogynistic and annoying but a lot of ppl just ignore but it’s really gross but I hope he’s trying to stop
i don't think your natural response to having a bad day should be bullying other people.
yet bullies exist because of that reason?
@@Freshest_Water cis/cisgender: whatever gender you are now is the same as what was presumed for you at birth. (Google is free to use.) I do agree with you that a lot of the men involved with twitch streaming unfortunately tend to be iffy as people. I am also a women and it’s disheartening the amount of conversations I had to have with streamers that I worked for explaining that things they did or said were not okay. Men in their mid twenties that have never had anyone challenge them and they get so defensive 💀 it’s scary.
@@PanickinSkywalker Ah okay. I assume that just means straight people or something because at birth we are by default asexual because we aren't feeling sexual attraction but it's weird because then you wouldn't have to specify so it is still confusing tbh.
@@Freshest_Water (a)romantic sexuality and gender are different things. That’s why people clarify both.
Myself as an example: I am a cisgender female. I identify as female and I was born a female. But that’s just a statement about myself, like saying my hair is brown or I’m wearing orange. Saying I’m female is a box on a form at the doctors office, and tells you nothing about who I like romantically/sexually.
