Isaam says things which are better for society, do you want your daughter to be with 7-8 men sexually in the name of freedom? you too have boundaries, right? She and you should ask God Almighty to guide you to truth and read at least a translation of glorious Quraan in language you understand better. May Allah guide you both, Ameen. OK, I think the desertion analogy is better- if a person deserts his army then he is likely to be executed. Similarly, every Muslim was a potential recruit for the Caliphate and non Muslims are exempt from national service. Also, the death penalty was only supposed to be implemented in the event the apostasy is combined with treason and part of warring against the Muslims.
There have been a number of murtads during the Caliphate who were not put to death, Al Ma'ari being one of them.

Wouldn’t a more apt analogy be if a person decided to give up his country of origin, immigrate to a different country, and then explain to people why he/she left? Free countries allow you to do that no problem. Like, imagine a different religion had that standard. Imagine if Christianity said, “there’s no compulsion in Christianity, and you can freely leave it if you choose, but if you convert out and then start telling people why you left, you get the death penalty.” No one would actually believe them when they said, “There’s no compulsion in Christianity.” No disrespect, but this seems to be a pretty weak example of apologetics from Dr. Naik. Btw, if you read this comment and decide to respond with hate, you’re not doing yourself any favors. I’m willing to listen, but I won’t bother if you can’t calmly explain why you think I’m mistaken.

There is a hypocrisy there. The no compulsion came as a response to the wars against Quraysh. Quraysh was trying to use its military to compel Meccans who became Muslims to go back to paganism. The prophet was basically saying via the Quran "You have your faith, we have ours.". At that time, the Muslims weren't as powerful militarily. Once they were very powerful, they became like Quraysh because they were now supreme. The action of forcing someone born Muslim to remain contradicts no compulsion. It shouldn't matter if someone was born Christian or Muslim. They should have a free choice to believe as they wish.

your example is not right, things happen with Allah's will, prophet's journey of life was revelation of conduct itself for people to take understanding. if he was weak then surrendering was an option, idol worship was an option, why didn't he select that? Because he is true prophet of God Almighty. Why would the enemies of Islaam care what was revealed in Quraan and there is compulsion in religion or not? if they can defeat, they will plainly defeat so that is incorrect argument. the first treaty in Makkah for Muslims in Madina was unfair to Muslims but still Allah called it a victory in Quraan. that time Makkah was filled with disbelievers. in that treaty if someone wants to go to Makkah from Muslims in Madina they should be allowed, but is someone goes to Madina they should not be allowed and if anyone become murtad then he should be sent to Makkah, but what happened? People accepted Isaam in multitudes by seeing conduct of Muslims, so Allah said it was clear victory in Quraan, Alhamdulillah.

    • @welcome9470

also, even if you become murtad you are executed with conditions like:
it is a land with laws of Islam
you know about Islaam but still reject knowingly
you are spreading corruption in land where law is Isaam and people already accepted Isaam, you are spreading falsehood.
there is no agreement/treaty from any other non-Muslim country to send you to their place if you become Kaafir etc.
someone is not a Muslim then he is son of non-Muslim family generally of other religion, but born Muslims have their family as Muslims, so they are Muslims and know Islaam while growing, so what is their purpose of becoming murtad except evil?
for born non-Muslim there is no compulsion in gunpoint even if we are in power in state with laws of Islaam.
if you see scenario of prophet's time, Muslims were weak and starting, people leaving Islaam would be Treson if you look that time, but still if you have treaty to not kill, you cannot.
if you see scenario of today, hardly you will find the laws and that too if someone influencing others.
it is like wanting to be naked in college with much worse level, it is like treason towards one's country, all have their boundaries, you have laws in every country, this world belongs to none of us, no one created it except Allah, then why do you pay to buy land, resources and pay taxes and obey laws of land? can't you be a free bird everywhere then? it is not practical. previous true scriptures didn't claim to be only true to be followed and they gave message of final prophet, so all should follow final scripture Quraan and final prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) but still it is a mercy for them that "there is no compulsion in religion". may Allah guide me and you, hope you understood.

  • @billjackson8641
    @billjackson8641 2 ปีที่แล้ว +8

There is no comparison between treason and leaving Islam, at least in the modern sense. This is a shallow way of trying to wiggle out of the issue. Even in earlier times, leaving religion is not the same as committing treason against the state. If someone leaves a religion and then joins the enemy, okay. But if someone says, "I do not believe anymore," he has done nothing against the state, and nothing should be done to him. Any argument that tries to justify that this is somehow against the community is really pushing the limits of what makes sense. Even if that person were to speak out against Islam, there are other ways of handling the situation. To just kill the person is not right.

A person who has left Islam has left it obviously because he has found issues with it and to expect him to sing praises of Islam even after he/she left it is beyond me. That is not treason, that is freedom of religion for you. If it is acceptable for a person who converts from any other religion to Islam and then propagates it and vilifies his earlier religion to prove the superiority of his newly adopted Islamic faith than the opposite should also be acceptable, that's fairness and equal rights for you. Zakir rightly said that in an Islamic State the apostate will be punished with the death penalty. That's exactly the reason level headed individuals do not support a theocratic state and more so an Islamic state. Because definitions of equality, fairness and justice have been twisted beyond recognition.

    2. A country's law Should be secular. If country enforces any sort of law based on a particular religion, this by itself is already wrong, especially death penalty.

Whereas countries like Saudi Arabia have very little crime rate. These measures are in place for the betterment and protection of society. So you wont find smuggling of drugs, mass killing or terrorism or any other major crimes being rampant in these countries while you will, without a shadow of a doubt, find them widespread in western countries and similiar to them.
Matter of fact, western countries and similar to them have seen more terrorist attacks because the liberal nature of these countries makes it EASY for these people to carry out these acts.
Besides, the penalty of apostacy is NOT for the common people. As it is NOT correct to say that any person can carry out the execution. These cases MUST be evaluated by a QUALIFIED judge as that is evident in Islaam.

    * Leaving Islam is not an apostate *
The apostate is someone who goes to something of his own free will and then abandons it. This does not apply to someone who was born to Muslim parents and converted to Islam by dependency.
**Perhaps this applies only to those who entered Islam by their will and by their pure decision and at an age that denies ignorance.

Islam says there is no compulsion in Islam. But, only Islam is allowed to be preached, any other religion that preaches itself their practitioners' heads to be chopped off. Highly contradictory statement or error - a religion who claims to be error free, flawless, complete and no updates are required. Isn't it?

@@electro639Renouncing of Islam also ends up chopping the heads off - of those who renouces it/become apostate. Quran Says there is no compulsion in Islam Yet at the same time Quran also says kill the apostates, which is also backed Hadees, said by Muhammad and his disciples himself, now, at one place it says no compulsion and on the other hand it contradicts itself. Then why Alims/scholars profess that Quran is errors and contradictions free and especially purged from the term unequivocal?
Actually, becomging an apostate means committing blasphemy in Islam, which has only one punishment - death penalty. Does that mean if a student doesn't like to be a taught by a professor since he is unable to understand him - should be killed by the professor, since he is unable to understand his method of teaching and wants join an alternative classroom under the supervision of another professor?
Look I respect all the religions and agree that they are the cornerstones for human education in dark ages, when in a gladiator people used to come with families and cheered on the dead bodies of soldiers for their entertainment and leaving old parents in the middle of no where to be died, etc, religion taught us against these atrocious behavior, religion is still very much important to date, which guides us (human beings) in countless ways, which strengthens the fraternity and being good with eachother, but, I don't blindly follow them that they are perfect and error free.

I once interested in Islam. But then I encountered this what I considered an issue, apostasy can be killed. I asked my muslim friend if it is true, and he said that it is true. When I asked why, he cannot provide answer. For me, it is against my morality to kill other people, let alone just because someone switch or change their religion. And this is the reason why I stayed away and I am glad that I did.
I agree with some comments below that this Zakir Naik did not really answer the question. His analogy is wrong. People who change their religion is not the same with treason to their country. And also as I know, traitor to the country are usually only executed only during war times. These days, modern democratic countries only imprisoned traitor who leaked information to their enemies or to the very hostile countries. Usually only countries ruled by dictators or facism implemented this death penalty for traitors.
The more suitable analogy for changing religion is changing nationality. They can change their nationality to the other countries if those countries allowed them.
If Zakir Naik compared changing religion to treason against country, then he means Islam treat other religions as enemies.

Exactly same question I have on other religion no one give this punishment people have their own choice but when it comes to Islam death penalty serious it’s sad definitely after a a lot of search I have to say Islam is not peaceful religion on some things
Firstly all non Muslim go to hell
    Marry 4 women
    Death penalty on leaving Islam
    Jihad to kill kafir
Dog is not allowed to hav pet otherwise angels will not come if you have
    Women cannot take divorce
Permission to beat women if she sleep with another men
Kill the person who disrespect beloved prophet
These things tells Islam is not 100 percent peaceful high time others Muslims also understand

      @KMoon-mf6md ปีที่แล้ว

1.if the non muslim have not gotten the message or otherwise leaved in a place where there is no connection to the world then they wont go to hell.
      2. Polygamy marriage is not mandatory and it prefers to have one wife as an option depends on the caltuer that you live in.
      3. In all religions it Commands death to apostate, but when you have time where you can pacifying why you left the religion and reasons and and if you want corruption and deceive people then that would be consider as treason and work against the laws.
      3. Jihad is not killing the kafir but its pushing miss treatment and corruption away from people and from yourself, it could be by mony or by just talking but if things went to another level and they wanted to fight then you can just do the jihad which is seld defense most of the time, and if the non believers wanted peace then you by the islamic law you are obligated to make peace with as you can help them if you want.
      3. Dogs are not allowed to be bought because this is type of abusive treatment of taking there freedom of leaving, but its allowed to have dog for coming reasons:
If the dogs help in hunting.
If dogs helps in mental treatments.
If dogs help to protect houses.
But other than that is abusive and you know that most people dont know how to deal dogs and often mistreat them heavily, but cats are allowed all the time.
      4. You know that no one likes to be cheated and gets no justice, not even women, men and women are ought to be punished if there is 4 eye witnessers witnessed the deed, but other than like more than 4 or less their witnessed would be rejected and they would be punished by 80 stricks for making a bad reputation of their victims aka blackmailing, but she/he got pouched to do or even raped ahe wouldn't be punished and the rapest will be killed, clearly both sex get beaten wtf you trying to do.
      5. Divorce is a right for both spouses if the other one is abusive or neglectes his/her duty towards the other and the family but they want to fixs things then god would bless you.
      6. Most of people will defend there public figure at any cost but there is no laws saying if the prophet got mocked then you are wrong because many people have mocked him at his time and when the apologized he have forgiven them all.
Clearly islam is tge religion of peace ❤

And even if we take case of teacher who teaches 2+2=5 she should be fired from the school, not to be killed. But what if she is just believing 2+2=5 and unless like the case of teacher, a common civilian cannot be exiled (fired) from the nation(school). But sadly these laws oppress freedom of religion

Notice you said "if". The interesting thing is how the "corruption" is defined. Islamic scholars define it as teaching the Bible, trying to convert Muslims to other religions, and of course saying anything critical of the Quran - like that it cannot be from god because it contains scientific, historical and grammatical errors, putting it on the ground etc. People get arrested and spend years in jail for these things, some with death sentences. Is that OK with you?
And, no, they cannot freely leave, have you not read your own sources? Dozens of sahih hadiths say otherwise, and if you read the Sharia manual, Reliance of the Traveler, in Section O8 it makes it VERY clear what happens to apostates.
Oh, and what were the Ridda Wars about, if they can freely leave?

Complete bullshit analogy, comparing religion with a nation state. You consider someone who leaves Islam an enemy. Which is forced belief and that leads to radicalisation of hard core believers of Islam, this is the reason why many are ready to kill non believers and apostates in the first place. If you are believing others as enemy of Islam by considering other religions as enemy, people should know religion is not a nation and and treason with a nation can be treated by laws, and if someone choses not to believe in a religion he should have a freedom to do so, it does not harm religion itself like in case of treason it harms national secrets.

I like that he's actually talking about it in detail and showing that these Ahadith don't refer to someone changing their religion in a world where people of different faiths "peacefully" co exist, but to betrayers who switch to the enemies side in the context of a religious battle. The Qur'an is clear about changing the religion alone:
“Behold, as for those who come to believe, and then deny the truth, and again come to believe, and again deny the truth, and thereafter grow stubborn in their denial of truth - God will not forgive them, nor will guide them in any way” - 4:137
“People ask you about fighting in the holy month. Say: “Fighting in it is an awesome sin, but barring people from the Way of Allah, disbelieving in Him, and denying entry into the Holy Mosque and expelling its inmates from it are more awesome acts in the sight of Allah; and persecution is even more heinous than killing.” They will not cease fighting against you till they turn you from your religion if they can. (So remember well) that whoever from amongst you turns away from his religion and dies in the state of unbelief their work will go to waste in this world and in the Next. They are destined for the Fire and it is there that they will abide.” - 2:217
“There shall be no compulsion in [acceptance of] the religion. The right course has become clear from the wrong. So whoever disbelieves in Taghut and believes in Allah has grasped the most trustworthy handhold with no break in it. And Allah is Hearing and Knowing.” - 2:256
“So remind, [O Muhammad]; you are only a reminder. You are not over them a controller.” - 88:21
“And say [O Muhammad]: ‘the truth [has now come] from your Sustainer: let, then, him or her who wills, believe in it, and let him or her who wills, reject it” - 18:29

Yeah, but Ali Ibn Abi Talib executed a man who was born Christian and returned to Christianity, so they had the idea that people couldnt' leave the faith. The no compulsion was from the early days of Islam battling Quraysh saying you have your faith (i.e. paganism) and we have ours "Islam", so leave us alone, and we leave you alone, but eventually Islam was supreme and people weren't allowed to leave after they accepted the faith and it was more about not forcing people of Quraysh to become Muslims at that time, at least. Everyone knows the famous "Man Dakhal Dar Abu Sufyan Fahuwa Muslim". Whoever enters Abu Sufyan's home is a Muslim. Later, the Muawiya clan officially converted but plotted for power.

The Sharia is based on that, and if you read section O8 of Reliance of the Traveler (PDF online) , that is the penalty for apostasy. All the schools of law agree on this, so I don't know where you get your information.

@@theastronomer5800 Apostasy Is Not Punishable By Death In Islam
Apostasy is divided into two types: major and minor. Muslim scholars, using the Prophet’s traditions as their guide, have divided unbelief, idolatry,
hypocrisy, and sin into major and minor categories. Likewise, there is a distinction between an apostate who intends to physically harm the community
and an apostate who only spiritually harms himself.
Minor apostasy is when a person embraces Islam while knowing its virtues and later rejects it. There is no legal punishment for the minor apostate as
long as they do not try to physically harm the Muslim community. Major apostasy is when a person embraces Islam while knowing its virtues and later
rejects it and adds to this a call for violent rebellion against the Muslim authorities. Such a crime is equivalent to high treason and in its most
severe case can carry the death penalty as an act of self-defense for the community.
      Allah said:
Verily, those who believed and then disbelieved, then believed and then disbelieved and increased in disbelief, never will Allah forgive them nor
will He guide them to a right way.
      Surah An-Nisa 4:137
In this verse, Allah describes a person who apostates from Islam twice and He does not prescribe legal punishment for him, but rather He only warns
the apostate about severe punishment in the Hereafter. This demonstrates that the general rule is an apostate should be left alone, as the Quran
      prohibits compulsion in religion.
      Allah said:
There is no compulsion in religion. The truth is distinct from misguidance.
      Surah Al-Baqarah 2:256
      And He said:
Say: The truth is from your Lord. So whoever wills let him believe, and whoever wills let him disbelieve.
      Surah Al-Kahf 18:29
Because of this, the Prophet did not punish people simply because they rejected Islam.
Jabir reported: A bedouin came to the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, and gave the pledge of allegiance for embracing Islam. The next
day he came with a fever and said, “Please cancel my pledge.” The Prophet refused three times and he said:
      ‎الْمَدِينَةُ كَالْكِيرِ تَنْفِي خَبَثَهَا، وَيَنْصَعُ طَيِّبُهَا
Medina is like a furnace. It expels its impurities and collects what is pure.
Source: Sahih Bukhari 1784, Grade: Sahih
In this example, a man rejected Islam after embracing it but the Prophet did not apply legal punishment to him.
Regarding the major apostasy, the Prophet was clear in advising us that legal punishment is not applied to a minor apostate, but only a major apostate.
Abdullah ibn Mas’ud reported: The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, applied legal punishment in the following case:
      ‎وَالتَّارِكُ لِدِينِهِ الْمُفَارِقُ لِلْجَمَاعَةِ
The one who leaves his religion and separates from the community.
Source: Sahih Muslim 1676, Grade: Sahih
The reference to one who “separates from the community” (al-mufariq lil-jama’ah) indicates that a person is not legally punished simply for not
practicing Islam, but rather for high treason against Muslim authorities. This is made even clearer in another narration in which the Prophet
      describes the major apostate as:
      ‎رَجُلٌ يَخْرُجُ مِنَ الإِسْلاَمِ يُحَارِبُ اللَّهَ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ وَرَسُولَهُ
A man who rejects Islam and wages war against Allah the Exalted and His Messenger.
      Source: Sunan An-Nasa’i 4048
      Ibn Abbas said:
Whoever kills others, spreads corruption in the land, wages war against Allah and His Messenger, and he joins the unbelievers before he is
subdued, then there is nothing to prevent the legal punishment from being applied to him because of what he did.
      Source: Sunan An-Nasa’i 4046
Indeed, some of the companions interpreted the phrase this way and described an apostate as:
      ‎حَارَبَ اللَّهَ وَرَسُولَهُ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ
One who wages are against Allah and His Messenger.
Source: Ṣaḥīḥ al-Bukhārī 4334, Grade: Sahih
What can be understood from these narrations is that legal punishment is only applied to a person who combines apostasy with high treason.
This is because the Quran prohibits compulsion in religion as a general rule and because the believers should be the most restrained of the
people when it comes to taking life.
Abdullah ibn Mas’ud reported: The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said:
      ‎أَعَفُّ النَّاسِ قِتْلَةً أَهْلُ الْإِيمَانِ
The most restrained of the people regarding killing are the people of faith.
Source: Musnad Ahmad 3720, Grade: Sahih
Furthermore, cases of major apostasy do not necessitate the death penalty if a single Muslim seeks protection for the apostate.
      Ibn Abbas reported:
Abdullah ibn Sa’d ibn Abi Sarh would write to the Messenger of Allah but the devil deceived him and he joined the unbelievers. The Messenger
of Allah ordered that he should be killed on the day of liberation, but Uthman ibn Affan sought protection for him, so the Messenger of Allah
      granted him protection.
Source: Sunan Abu Dawud 4358, Grade: Sahih
In this example, a man embraced Islam and then rejected it by joining the idolaters of Mecca who at the time were waging war against the Muslims.
When Mecca surrendered to the Prophet without a fight, Uthman ibn Affan sought protection for this apostate and the Prophet honored this covenant.
This is because, as a general rule, the protection granted by a single Muslim should be honored by all Muslims.
Ali ibn Abu Talib reported: The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said:
      ‎ذِمَّةُ الْمُسْلِمِينَ وَاحِدَةٌ يَسْعَى بِهَا أَدْنَاهُمْ
The covenant of the Muslims is one covenant, and they strive to fulfill it among the least of them.
      Source: Sunan Al-Kubra Al-Bayhaqi 15464, Grade: Sahih
In conclusion, the death penalty for apostasy is restricted by the Prophet’s other statements and actions which make clear that this punishment
applies only to those who commit high treason against the Muslim community.

What he responded to the message is incredibly closed minded and assumes Islam is correct. Every reasonable human being must accept that they may be at least in theory incorrect. And furthermore, should act accordingly offering others point of view respect.

      I kinda agree with you
But when it comes to religion
A way of life(rules) by God himself
      There is no falsehood
You can't accept the fact that there is one wrong point in a religion or else the whole religion is false
Because logically God can never be wrong or false in something
      He knows the best (logically)
