From 1977-1980, I lived on the line every free moment I had . I was stationed at Ellsworth AFB in Rapid city. I’m a huge CB&Q railroad enthusiast and their line ( now a trail) through the black hills has been my addiction . A gentleman named Rick Mills has written a couple of great books and numerous magazine articles about the route . Thank you so much for this excellent trip down memory lane on a path I’ll never trod again
I just completed that part of the trail over the weekend (7/25/2020). I was great. I am going to do the 2nd half in a few weeks, I am planning to complete the whole thing in one day this September.
Really nice looking trail. You mentioned the trail was $4, is that per day or is it a one-time fee (to use within a set number of days). At what elevation were you at where snow was covering the trail? Thanks!
There is ample parking at the trailhead but unfortunately I don’t know if you can park there for multiple days. I’d imagine it’s fine to do so. Their website will have more info or someone to contact on it. I believe the trail is maintained by the state.
It's hard to say being that I stopped to film all these shots. I would say if you are in shape it would take 4-5 hours of riding time. If you check Strava you could probably see how long it takes people on their leaderboards.
Leti Ceroja I don’t exactly remember but I believe like 8 hours. That’s with me filming all this obviously and I stopped in Rockford for lunch. You could prob get it in 6 hours with a good pace and no big stops.

Very cool thanks for sharing your story! Never knew about any of that.
Very nice video. I'm hoping to ride it summer of 2023.
Awesome. I'm going in August.
Thanks so much for such a well made video!
I enjoy your enthusiasm.
Just bought a cabin out that way. Nice to know we have a gem like this close by. Thanks for posting.
Sweet ride!
Nice trip dude! Human-powered adventure 🙌🏻💪🏼
Good footage! 🤙🏽 I might have to go check that out!

Right on Aaron! Check out my video if you haven't already of the second leg. Best of luck getting it all in one go in September.
WARNING. No MAP screenshots in the video. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Marmot, not beaver.
Oh okay good to know.

Hey man we need some new videos!!
Johnnie! I appreciate that! I do need to dust off the editing laptop and post some more videos. I have some Colorado Trail videos in my pipeline.
Do they have places to park a vehicle for a few days while u do the trail?

Or the last fifty miles
how many hours you think that 1st 50 miles took

Is it impossible to put city and state in the description?
i think u could have biked over the snow
True the snow was wet and heavy being that it was May so I opted not to.
