    These videos should be accessible from inside AMS2 as a "setup guide".

    WOW you really sound like you know what you’re talking about. Need to watch your spring video now. I definitely know I need to learn all this now because having just recently moved to a DD wheel, I have really noticed a huge difference in my speed compared to AI on 100%

    I didn't know about the importance of keeping the ratio of the front and rear ARBs stiffness the same, and then adjusting them to keep this ratio on a track by track. I suppose I may have done it internally when I change them, but never thought about it strictly. I guess that is one example of why its much handier to display the values of the components in their physical units in AMS2, rather than that other format that was introduced a few months ago. Thanks for the video

      @Steelcast27  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      yeah. Once you have the balance. its balanced. unless you make a one ended change to the springs. after that, its stiffer/softer overall based on whether you want a quick reaction for snappy chicane work or slower grippier roll for flowy tracks.

    Not done! These are the type of videos that your subscribers can go back and quickly retrieve that info without f/f through vid to find 1 minute of info in a 45 minute video. Can't tell you how many times I have given up on finding info I know is in one of your videos. This series of videos I believe will bump your analytics. And for the suggestion box, I LOVE the Ultimate GTR. To say it's my favorite would be an understatement. Reiza hit the jackpot when they hired you!

      Agree 100%, Reiza grabbed a real asset in Steelcast, shows they know talent when they see it as well as foresight taking on the 'infamous' Madness Engine & now getting under its hood & showing that it has amazing potential when in the right hands.

    I already know a bit about setups but I still learned something, very good explanations! As suggestion for the next video topic: take what has the gighest priority after springs and arbs! I think a lot of confusion and reluctance towards aetup work is that it is so unclear where to start and whats important. So I suggest doing camber and tire pressure next and after that I guess the diff

      fronts springs blend into front arb, front arb blends into rear arb, rear arb blends into rear spring. easy....peezy

    I sat and watched this, knowing exactly what to expect from you and your work, and it dawned on me that I know all this stuff already. How do I know all this stuff about ARBs already, because Steel has explained it brilliantly before....BUT, now we have a series of short, concise and clear guides that we can dip in and out of as and when we need a refresher. Thank you
    I'm hoping one day you'll bring your magic to RST with a section by section guide. An "If such and such is positive on graph A, this is happening to your car and you'll need to tighten your doo-dah which will make it neutral on graph A" kind of thing. Without your excellent presentation and delivery it's a little inpenetrable for some of us. Bitesize is rightsize :)
    Thanks for the hard work, on your channel and in-game. Both have had a massive positive influence.

    Hi Steel, Firstly kudos to what you are doing. Your videos have been big boon for newcomers to ams2 like me. Keep up the awesome work. I think we just had a race together in Watkins glen/P4. I was the MIJ guy. Just realized it was you in the race while watching the race replay now!
    Ok., now to the question. I know it is a tough one with no straight forward yes/no but still. Which one to adjust first between the springs and the ARBs. This is the one thing i am mostly doing in random with no consistent approach. sometimes what I do works and sometimes it doesn't.

    • @Steelcast27
      @Steelcast27  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yeah, that was a good race. A bit frustrating on my part as my 6th gear got locked waaay to short when looking at it pre race.
      Good question though. They work together so its hard to tell, but you’ll want to use the arb for stiffness balance if you are happy with the springs. Look at mid corner rotation for arb, and entry/exit for the front/rear springs. Dampers play a role too.

  • @damonschumi

    And have a green track, softer arb.. Change the track over a weekend, change the arb to stiffer

    • @Steelcast27
      @Steelcast27  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      any circumstances where the track has less than optimal grip, softening the arbs (and other things) could help.

  • @raybaby7895
    @raybaby7895 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    good video steel..so do the ARBs effect the tire temps..i have been noticing that when i run a stiffer rear ARB those tire will want to heat up..it would be realistic for that to be the case as the stiffness would cause more force to be put on the tire through the corner and cause it to heat up..have you been doing any community races lately, seems like i see a lot more people are in multiplayer so i have not been looking at the outside communities..

    • @Steelcast27
      @Steelcast27  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      hey there ray! stiffening the rear arbs adds rotation and rotation is what taxes the rears. softening the rears would lessen the burden on the rears, but to corner the responsibility would shift to the fronts. load can add heat, yes but its the wheel slip that adds more. the scream you hear from the tires is the rubber literally stretching and snapping back into place. slip is good. the rubber is physically pulling the tire back into place (aka grip). go over the wheel slip point, and heat is even worse. If your fronts are heavily loaded, not slipping, but the rears are slipping. The rears will heat up more.
      My online public racing (for fun) is limited. Some weeks all I can do is the thunderbolt casual race.
