This was immensely helpful! I was able to quickly take the machine apart to retrieve the item that fell through the chute and I even found some of my favorite earrings down there! Thanks for the added tips of cleaning all the lint up as you go. Not exactly how I wanted to spend my Friday morning, but was easily doable with your video!
Oh my man you are a life saver!!!! The only other way to do this that I could find was to literally flip the dumb dryer over and shake the screwdriver out of the lint trap chute! Now I don't have to call my dad and tell him how I dropped a screw driver down the lint trap chute and need him to fix it for me.
Thank you for this!❤ Now, I see how much is involved. This may be too much for me to handle. I'm concerned b/c a small, plastic plant stake fell in. Nervous about it becoming a fire hazard if it's not blown out.
It is worth removing that to prevent further issues down the road. Maybe see if you have a friend or family member that is handy that can help you out with it.
my dryer is 20 yo and the stripping around the openings seems to have dryrotted. Do you have ideas/links about what to replace it with? it seems more like foam weather stripping than felt.
@@monkeyb1820 The foam seals used in dryers are specially designed to withstand the heat and friction typical of a dryer’s operation, so they’re different from regular weather stripping. Using an OEM replacement part ensures proper performance and safety.
it's good to do every few years just to get extra lint out of the duct as well as other loose lint in the chassis. Our's had a huge amount of hair in the bottom of the chassis.
You just showed me how easy this is to do! Now I can clean out that section and use my dryer for once!!!!❤
Great! Let us know how it goes!

This is cracking me up because I am here due to dropping a screwdriver down it and not wanting to call my dad about it 😂
Excellent tutorial. Thanks!

What is the model number of the dryer? th-cam.com/video/ejMF2-Hqdzo/w-d-xo.html
@@PartsDr I do see that there are officially two foam seals, although I wonder if it's just the same as weather stripping.

Is it really worth going through all this to remove a screw?

Let us know how it goes getting the scissors out.
@ Success !!! I got the scissors out with a wire coat hanger from the top lint chute. Just took me about 4 minutes.
