I agree 100%. The map of FH2 was beautiful. The mountain landscape along the coast and the small villages and towns in the middle were just cool. I don't need to mention the road trips between the "chapters". It really gave you a sense of progression. FH5 feels like it has an identity crisis, because the franchise is becoming more and more of a mass product and the developers want to please everyone. Unfortunately, you can see this in every corner of the game. It started with 3 and can no longer be overlooked in 5.
Completely agree with you. Whenever I play fh2 I'm always in awe of its beauty. Those roads feel soooo good; they genuinely feel special. In FH5, I just login once a week to get the new cars from playlists and that's all. FH5 feels more panicky whereas FH2 was very relaxing. I do feel that the games should have a reset button so that we can experience the game from start whenever we want. I miss that in FH and FM games. Sometimes I don't wanna compete online and just want to feel good by progressing through the story mode
I re-started FH5, gave up everything I had built up, all for one reason. I hate the driftzone banners, they ruin the immersion for me. In FH4, I only opened 2 drift zones, one paved and one dirt, everywhere else my map was clean of banners. In FH5, as soon as you open the Dirt festival, every driftzone in the game lights up, banners everywhere. Biggest drawback to this is no Trial, so no playlist cars for me. No regrets.

I’m not whether FH1 or FH2 was the last to have it, but back then the clocks of the cars showed the game time and now it’s just 12:00am… I really liked that feature.
Another I think that helps horizon 2 is the use of tones, when its day theres a very nice shades of yellows and oranges and at night you have a set of nice cool blues, its just really good atmosphere
i love fh2 and fh3, only thing about fh2 is the championship system makes it a bit of a pain to replay the game but for cruising is soo good but if i had to choose only one forza game i would say fh3
Totally agree. It’s way too arcadey p.s the fact I cannot get a connection with the cars is one of the biggest problems with Forza Horzion. They lost track of what makes A car special for a person p.s.2 that interior view is incredible. Everyones talking about all the new features they want adding in FH6 but honestly, I just wasn't lighting/graphics from FH2. The vibes are immaculate. The visuals of this game leave me in awe even now, pure summer roadtrip feels which set the tone for the entire game. We need this atmosphere back in FH6.
Horizon 2 was the best Horizon game, you can't change my mind! Like, remember Bucket List Challenges? Or the roadtrips from one town to another? Yeah, you had to cruise with others from one place to another, no fast travelling. The showcase events were unique, the new games just recycle The same ones we saw before. The ballon race, the airplane race with the italian colors in the sky, and the train race with the classic Alfa Romeo!? Or the map? The docks where everyone was drifting, the mountain roads of Nice, the airfield... The car list was outstanding for the time: we had brand new exotics, but everyday cars too! Just the vibes man, the way the sun was setting and the brightly lit city lights at night, winding roads, and the huge graphical upgrade from Xbox 360 to One! You had to chose championships and you had to use one or two cars for it, no jumping from a Jeep to an offroad Lamborghini. No flashy, but useless features like clothes, like absurdly huge jumps... Just a proper car game with banging music festivals and picturesque locations! Wish the Horizon games gone back to this, not appeal to the 6-8 year olds... It sure would sell better!

i got fh2 like not too long ago and overall ive been grinding the game a lot more than fh5, the head to head racing was actually worth doing considering if you see someone with the CR icon you can get more cash out of them. I honestly think the game should have a moment where everyone comes back to it for 1 day
They should put clothes and emotes as a player level unlock instead of wheelspins Perhaps put in special vehicles into the wristband levels Because the wristband doesn't mean anything now in the new games
I never got Horizon 2, and the driving roads are making me jealous. Closest thing in Horizon 3 is Great Ocean Road, it's by the ocean with sailboats next to a cliff but it's much shorter and has a speed zone, but it's good for sunrise photos
I think what we need is a Horizon game set not in a desert or forest, where you are a racer who races for like 10 hours or so and then after that you become a festival boss where you can upgrade and grow out the festival further and bigger. The car models have got to be upgraded to their current versions rather than the 2010s version. All this could make a true 10/10 game
Progression is so important in racing games imo, the old GT and Forza Motorsport games had it perfect. You feel like you earn the cars and therefore value and enjoy them more. Getting free cars everyday is silly.

Forza Horizon 1 is a distant memory of heaven, Forza Horizon 2 is a memory of nostalgia and the best map, Forza Horizon 3 is a memory of the best and newest features at the time, Forza Horizon 4 brought the best new features, Forza Horizon 5 put it all together. Still, Forza Horizon 3 is best for me.
FH5 like you said tried to put everything in one game, but when that happens you are most likely to forget details or cut corners, they also screwed there self with the location they could have done better (No hate to Mexico I'm sure its beautiful) but there was better places to theme a map to.
Man I still got fh2 on the 2013 Xbox one and man I miss it I loved the city the modern airport I miss the vibes from this game. And this even had NOS if I’m not wrong with fast and furious expansion. And I like the way that they were cars parked on the side of the roads so you could steal them the super cars for a time trial. That was just amazing
You can only play digital games on the series s. It doesn't have a disk drive so you won't be able to play fh2 unless you get a digital code for it which is difficult because the game was delisted almost 4 years ago.
In my eyes Horizon is supposed to be a Open Wheel Motorsport game with an immersive map feel and true holiday festival vibe. All of that has seem to be gone down the drink and now its just an Arcade Game with no real achievements to be made. FH5 even though its great, will be the last Horizon I've bought until they really pull off something FH2 like. So in that sense its my farewell to the Horizon series, FH5 seemed to be so promising but in the end it just doesnt do it for me
This game was not only amazing but it hit at the right time too, there will never be another time like that for car people. The biggest show in the world was Top Gear and we got a game with very Top Gear like challenges, in locations similar to their most epic driving scenes in the series with the test track appearing on Motorsport. Then we get Storm Island DLC, soo good and almost good enough to be a stand alone game from a console generation earlier. Then the FREE Fast and Furious DLC 7 months after release providing a big boost of unique desirable and fun cars. We were able to bridge the gap between Jeremy Clarkson getting sacked to the Grand Tour with Forza Horizon 2.
I LOVE FH2 I always have and I always will and don't get me wrong FH5 is a great game but it doesn't have the magic the FH2 has and it's trying to hard to be a game that players don't want to play and yes it has some pretty cool features that FH2 doesn't have but I personally feel that the FH2 magic has gone from this game
i have an idea for something they could introduce into a future horizon game. it would be a mechanic where a convoy leader could create a car meet zone (maybe with a 100m diameter area or something). in this area, players would be able to get out their cars and wonder around (meaning that the character customisation wouldn’t be pointless) and it would make car meets so much better
FH2 and FH1 is the very Horizon games for Forza so far, well, actually also FH3 because I can still feel the Horizon vibe, and they even did the director progression better because they give us freedom to level up the festival, but yeah, I'm still wishing the festival vibe would be there, at least in cutscene, not just as background. And yes, the coastal area of FH2 is just a perfect Forza location, not even Japan could be perfect, if I can say it. Also FH2 have multiple city, makes the road trip feels like actual road trip, I miss them
I just love the way there are so many different cities around the map. It feels like a journey to go from any city to any other, even if it's a really short distance like from Nice to Saint Martin and that made the map feel gigantic. Then the new maps just feel like they're 80% filler without the cities dotted around, as they feel like they have a purpose as opposed to 'straight road #284'
Played a bit of every Forza except FH2 so I decided to buy it yesterday and hopped on it was beautiful, gives me the nostalgia of my beloved FH1 but also stunning graphics like the newer games, need to play it more
I played Horizon 5 a couple of hours a few days and got bored...went back to Horizon 1 and had so much fun! That game nailed the racing festival vibe, and the rock radio DJs were so funny, and I wanted more and finally got Horizon 2 today, liking it a lot so far only a few hours in.
my favorite horizon game was fh1 and that is the only horizon game I have I play on a 360 and horizon 2 is expensive for me and all the other games after it so that's why I sticked to fh1 it always has that feel of hype and excitement which is really cool
But there is one thing Horizon 2 did than 1 3 4 and 5. Their cinematic opening, that was real life being played right there! Her voice and the music, sheeesh, tingles up and down my spine!
I only ever played the Xbox 360 version of FH2, so I personally don't see the hype behind it. I am fully aware that the Xbox One version is superior, but that's just what I've experienced. Feel free to have your own opinion(s).
You can change fov and camera shake in settings if you want more sense of speed, having more car options is almost never a bad thing cause if you want a car connection then you can just pick your favorite, the physics outside of hotwheels in horizon 5 are more realistic than those in fh2 so even if it feels less arcadey it is more arcadey, the fh map has nice driving roads too they just also have more high speed roads because otherwise such a large map would be impossible to navigate, I personally hate over cut scened games but that is personal opinion, but I agree with festival vibes, also the wheelspin mechanic is way better IMO in fh5 simply in hud and how it works just cause you dont care about clothes doesn't mean some people dont they also just dont come up super often in wheelspins, generally having play all of the horizons since fh2 I think that fh5 is objectively the best one in alsmot every sense but peoples nostalgia and like of one type of terrain takes away from there appreciation of all the improvements as well as the variety in the map. Just generally this video felt like after festivals and roads you were just reaching for one more thing to complain about to get the video to 10 minutes instead of actually having 8 or 9 actual complaints
Sounds like FH1 and FH2 were single player games. My favorite by a lot is FH4. I can’t imagine not having the weekly objectives. That’s some of the most fun.
Forza Horizon did loose a lot of it's soul when it made you festival boss from the start. I also love FH5 but I agree with pretty much everything said here! I don't need 500 cars in the game ever, and certainly not from the start and customization is fun but when you can make most cars very similar to drive I think there is too much customization allowed. Sure you can put a S2 class engine in a VW Beetle but it should be undriveable at even moderate speeds.

I never owned fh2 but when I was younger, there was a demo for it on the Xbox360, I played it and absolutely loved the music, the scenery, and how immersive the storyline was compared to newer fh games! My first fh game was fh4, but I bought fh3 recently and also own 5. Out of the 3 I own, fh3 is the better game imo.
To your point of collecting as many cars as you at 6:40 yea... i got a friend who thinks getting all the cars is the most important thing... its super frustrating!!! Btw. FH5 is his first Forza game he has played.

I’m not sure why it’s important to you to feel like you’re in a music festival. There is music in the game if you want it. But to me it’s just a nice added feature to go along with the joy of cars.

You’ve either not explained yourself well or have some odd fixation with the fake being more about music than about racing and cars.
Imo Forza Horizon 6 needs a lot of forest roads and mountain-ey roads. FH5's roads are so open, its so flat. My vision of great driving roads is the portion around the speed trap as you get up the volcano in FH5 .
My favorite is FH1,2 and i still play it online i have every forza i was so sad when i saw fh5 is like a expencive copy of fh4 i just lost 100$ i wish a Fh1 remasterd for the 10th annieversary for Xbox series x/s or a remasterd of FH2 OR a Remasterd of FH1,2,3 and make a trilogy edition
I do agree with these reasons. If the developers tried to add some of the features from the first 2 titles, then it would be nice. I don’t know why the Xbox 360 version is rare since I have one. If anyone knows why it’s rare, please let me know.
In my opinion, a remastered FH1 with the new Forza features (like wheel spins and bucket lists) and better graphic with new cars would be the best. The only things it lacked were diversity as it was all basically desert and lack of drivable area as all the barriers were impossible to break and there was only like one or two off-road areas (the golf course and the weird area next to a factory north of the festival) and I know they circumvented this by adding Horizon rally dlc but the dlc had no open world/map expansion, you would just choose a race and do it.
I think Horizon 2 had the best bucket list system. Horizon 3 had a decent system but I liked the different lists available in 2. It felt a lot more immersive. Then it changed to businesses in Horizon 4 which just feels really shallow, as if the only reason for it to exist is for it to exist. With the bucket lists they actually felt like they had a purpose.
FH had races tell you how much credits you won, credits are the important part in this game (unlike FH5). FH had the bandwrits that gave proper progretion, you actually start with one car in a very low class (unlike FH2 and forward) so you feel you came from nothing and the races ask you for different types of cars that force you to be a collectionist without actually telling you to be one like FH5. I think all this was lost even in FH2
I do agree and think that the map in Horizon 2 is a lot better than in Horizon 5 but I do like character customization as well that’s one thing that’s better in the newer game that you thought wasn’t at least for me
If fh2 was released on PC that would be probably the greatest forza horizon game in the whole series cus i dont have a console i dont know how fh2 works but from what people says and tbh by myself what i have seen from videos is very beautiful game
Except the location, I personally agree with all of the points. As to why I disagree about the location; I believe there's great roads in every country, not just Europe, only that the great driving roads in Europe are much more popular and much more publicized than the great driving roads in other continents. Don't get me wrong, it's beautiful; but I wouldn't call it the best. I guess the true reason I felt that way is because I feel like it's a very Eurocentric thinking, in a world full of Eurocentric beliefs, I feel like we need to celebrate the beauty of other continents too rather than seeing the world from a purely European point of view. That being said, I still think it's a good map. And the video itself is pretty good, pat yourself in the back, Yuwan Thayakaran. Also FH6 needs to be set in -Japan- Malaysia, because diversity (albeit less publicized because Japan ate up all the attention)

Man I still got fh2 on the 2013 Xbox one and man I miss it I loved the city the modern airport I miss the vibes from this game. And this even had NOS if I’m not wrong with fast and furious expansion. And I like the way that they were cars parked on the side of the roads so you could steal them the super cars for a time trial. That was just amazing
only seen those footages here but damn the immersion part feels so most wanted 2005 and i'm all for games like these.

You can only play digital games on the series s. It doesn't have a disk drive so you won't be able to play fh2 unless you get a digital code for it which is difficult because the game was delisted almost 4 years ago.

In my eyes Horizon is supposed to be a Open Wheel Motorsport game with an immersive map feel and true holiday festival vibe. All of that has seem to be gone down the drink and now its just an Arcade Game with no real achievements to be made. FH5 even though its great, will be the last Horizon I've bought until they really pull off something FH2 like. So in that sense its my farewell to the Horizon series, FH5 seemed to be so promising but in the end it just doesnt do it for me
I called Horizon 4 the last one I buy until I see something good, and I've only played Horizon 5 because it was on the game pass

This game was not only amazing but it hit at the right time too, there will never be another time like that for car people. The biggest show in the world was Top Gear and we got a game with very Top Gear like challenges, in locations similar to their most epic driving scenes in the series with the test track appearing on Motorsport. Then we get Storm Island DLC, soo good and almost good enough to be a stand alone game from a console generation earlier. Then the FREE Fast and Furious DLC 7 months after release providing a big boost of unique desirable and fun cars. We were able to bridge the gap between Jeremy Clarkson getting sacked to the Grand Tour with Forza Horizon 2.
Fh2 was my first forza game and it better then 4,5 and. 1,3 I haven’t played but I will in the future
I LOVE FH2 I always have and I always will and don't get me wrong FH5 is a great game but it doesn't have the magic the FH2 has and it's trying to hard to be a game that players don't want to play and yes it has some pretty cool features that FH2 doesn't have but I personally feel that the FH2 magic has gone from this game
personaly i think that need for speed has proper proggression
payback and NFS Reboot has a really good progression system but heat can easily be broken
i have an idea for something they could introduce into a future horizon game. it would be a mechanic where a convoy leader could create a car meet zone (maybe with a 100m diameter area or something). in this area, players would be able to get out their cars and wonder around (meaning that the character customisation wouldn’t be pointless) and it would make car meets so much better
FH2 and FH1 is the very Horizon games for Forza so far, well, actually also FH3 because I can still feel the Horizon vibe, and they even did the director progression better because they give us freedom to level up the festival, but yeah, I'm still wishing the festival vibe would be there, at least in cutscene, not just as background. And yes, the coastal area of FH2 is just a perfect Forza location, not even Japan could be perfect, if I can say it. Also FH2 have multiple city, makes the road trip feels like actual road trip, I miss them
I just love the way there are so many different cities around the map. It feels like a journey to go from any city to any other, even if it's a really short distance like from Nice to Saint Martin and that made the map feel gigantic. Then the new maps just feel like they're 80% filler without the cities dotted around, as they feel like they have a purpose as opposed to 'straight road #284'

Played a bit of every Forza except FH2 so I decided to buy it yesterday and hopped on it was beautiful, gives me the nostalgia of my beloved FH1 but also stunning graphics like the newer games, need to play it more
I played Horizon 5 a couple of hours a few days and got bored...went back to Horizon 1 and had so much fun! That game nailed the racing festival vibe, and the rock radio DJs were so funny, and I wanted more and finally got Horizon 2 today, liking it a lot so far only a few hours in.
Kinda weird how some people are wanting fh5 to be more Arcade-y and some want it to be less arcade-y
my favorite horizon game was fh1 and that is the only horizon game I have I play on a 360 and horizon 2 is expensive for me and all the other games after it so that's why I sticked to fh1 it always has that feel of hype and excitement which is really cool
FH5 also has the "sound of the car slighly changes depending on your camera angle" thing
The first Forza game iv'e played is FH2 and its my favorite forza game.
But there is one thing Horizon 2 did than 1 3 4 and 5. Their cinematic opening, that was real life being played right there!

I've been playing horizon 2 for the past many years, and it has always been my favorite car game
My favorite horizon game is probably fh3 because it was my first. I also did enjoy fh2, fh4 and fh5

I only ever played the Xbox 360 version of FH2, so I personally don't see the hype behind it. I am fully aware that the Xbox One version is superior, but that's just what I've experienced. Feel free to have your own opinion(s).
i have both xbox 360 and xbox one, i think even on the xbox 360 it's somewhat enjoyable, the physics are not as good tho.
Xbox 360 version have working clock unlike xbox one version where time is alway 12:00.

You can change fov and camera shake in settings if you want more sense of speed, having more car options is almost never a bad thing cause if you want a car connection then you can just pick your favorite, the physics outside of hotwheels in horizon 5 are more realistic than those in fh2 so even if it feels less arcadey it is more arcadey, the fh map has nice driving roads too they just also have more high speed roads because otherwise such a large map would be impossible to navigate, I personally hate over cut scened games but that is personal opinion, but I agree with festival vibes, also the wheelspin mechanic is way better IMO in fh5 simply in hud and how it works just cause you dont care about clothes doesn't mean some people dont they also just dont come up super often in wheelspins, generally having play all of the horizons since fh2 I think that fh5 is objectively the best one in alsmot every sense but peoples nostalgia and like of one type of terrain takes away from there appreciation of all the improvements as well as the variety in the map. Just generally this video felt like after festivals and roads you were just reaching for one more thing to complain about to get the video to 10 minutes instead of actually having 8 or 9 actual complaints
Sounds like FH1 and FH2 were single player games. My favorite by a lot is FH4. I can’t imagine not having the weekly objectives. That’s some of the most fun.

Forza Horizon did loose a lot of it's soul when it made you festival boss from the start. I also love FH5 but I agree with pretty much everything said here! I don't need 500 cars in the game ever, and certainly not from the start and customization is fun but when you can make most cars very similar to drive I think there is too much customization allowed. Sure you can put a S2 class engine in a VW Beetle but it should be undriveable at even moderate speeds.

I never owned fh2 but when I was younger, there was a demo for it on the Xbox360, I played it and absolutely loved the music, the scenery, and how immersive the storyline was compared to newer fh games! My first fh game was fh4, but I bought fh3 recently and also own 5. Out of the 3 I own, fh3 is the better game imo.
Wish the map would come back as an expansion. It's a win win. They can be lazy like they like to be but people would still be happy with a great map

my first horizon was fh1, and now i own every forza except fm1 and fm5... i feel you, more and more people treat their cars like repacable toys rather than a vehicle you've built up a connection with, it's been getting worse and worse over time, with fh1 having cars that actually feel valuable.

I’m not sure why it’s important to you to feel like you’re in a music festival. There is music in the game if you want it. But to me it’s just a nice added feature to go along with the joy of cars.

game is a racing game with an open world. They tied this together by having a festival. The music is there the festival sites are there on all games. You’ve either not explained yourself well or have some odd fixation with the fake being more about music than about racing and cars.

Imo Forza Horizon 6 needs a lot of forest roads and mountain-ey roads. FH5's roads are so open, its so flat. My vision of great driving roads is the portion around the speed trap as you get up the volcano in FH5 .
for the festival part i honestly feel like fh5’s is too small, fh4’s seems so big and you can drift around in it, it looks so much better
I think the FH with the worst cutscenes is the 3rd one. They can be counted on the fingers of one hand and you can't even see their faces.

I do agree with these reasons. If the developers tried to add some of the features from the first 2 titles, then it would be nice. I don’t know why the Xbox 360 version is rare since I have one. If anyone knows why it’s rare, please let me know.
In my opinion, a remastered FH1 with the new Forza features (like wheel spins and bucket lists) and better graphic with new cars would be the best. The only things it lacked were diversity as it was all basically desert and lack of drivable area as all the barriers were impossible to break and there was only like one or two off-road areas (the golf course and the weird area next to a factory north of the festival) and I know they circumvented this by adding Horizon rally dlc but the dlc had no open world/map expansion, you would just choose a race and do it.
I think Horizon 2 had the best bucket list system. Horizon 3 had a decent system but I liked the different lists available in 2. It felt a lot more immersive. Then it changed to businesses in Horizon 4 which just feels really shallow, as if the only reason for it to exist is for it to exist. With the bucket lists they actually felt like they had a purpose.
Forza Horizon 2: proof that you are the fastest street driver.
Forza Horizon 5: sandbox with full of cars and unlimited money.
FH had races tell you how much credits you won, credits are the important part in this game (unlike FH5). FH had the bandwrits that gave proper progretion, you actually start with one car in a very low class (unlike FH2 and forward) so you feel you came from nothing and the races ask you for different types of cars that force you to be a collectionist without actually telling you to be one like FH5. I think all this was lost even in FH2
I do agree and think that the map in Horizon 2 is a lot better than in Horizon 5 but I do like character customization as well that’s one thing that’s better in the newer game that you thought wasn’t at least for me
If fh2 was released on PC that would be probably the greatest forza horizon game in the whole series cus i dont have a console i dont know how fh2 works but from what people says and tbh by myself what i have seen from videos is very beautiful game
Except the location, I personally agree with all of the points. As to why I disagree about the location; I believe there's great roads in every country, not just Europe, only that the great driving roads in Europe are much more popular and much more publicized than the great driving roads in other continents. Don't get me wrong, it's beautiful; but I wouldn't call it the best. I guess the true reason I felt that way is because I feel like it's a very Eurocentric thinking, in a world full of Eurocentric beliefs, I feel like we need to celebrate the beauty of other continents too rather than seeing the world from a purely European point of view. That being said, I still think it's a good map. And the video itself is pretty good, pat yourself in the back, Yuwan Thayakaran.
Also FH6 needs to be set in -Japan- Malaysia, because diversity (albeit less publicized because Japan ate up all the attention)
