It's gotta be the way everyone emotes in this game. In the PS1 version, we only had blocky graphics that couldn't emote very well beyond the limitations at the time. But with HD graphics, characters are able to emote in ways that they couldn't in the original version.
Aside from the fact it was such a colorful and fun game to play, as a kid a big part of what sold me on the original ps1 game was the humor of these cutscenes lol. Maybe I had a dark/weird sense of humor because those comical “deaths” and overall humor got me split on my sides and made enjoy the game even more. Glad the improved graphics and animations here ramped it up.
I respectfully disagree. Yes, the animated quality and graphics have been improved, but that's a given for a remaster. However, in terms of comedic timing is where I disagree. Some of them are shorter, some are longer, and that affects the comedic timing. Everyone has a slightly different sense of humor though.

Fun fact: At 10:53 you can see floating letters next to the Red Farmer like the "Return Home" pads from the first game. The odd part is how it says "Artisans World" here, considering at no point does a pad ever say that. Still, why does this pad exist in 2 where it's not even used is a mystery
These all look pretty good, but I hate how they ruined the joke in Shady Oasis. In the original there was a normal hippo next to the giant one, who rolled the fruit towards the small guy to try and blame him for eating the fruit. In the new one, he just pushes them away towards nothing.
Some of the cut scenes are good but others like the one you mentioned and the baby turtles have not. I miss it when the baby turtle chased after them with their own zapper.
Okay, every single one as it is, Spyro 2 intro + outro levels - always perfect! 👏😉 No I mean every match, except some different scene points as far as aware of original Spyro 2 of PS1 concerns, but no matter for now.
You consider this uncanny? RDR2 is more uncanny than this. It's got a LOT of details. The temperature you see when you press a certain button is how hot or cold your character feels. This can be seen by checking before lighting yourself on fire and while you're on fire. Why while you're on fire? Because, well, you'll die. Once you get lit on fire, your chances of surviving are NOT that high. There are so many details in that game, I'm willing to bet that we still haven't found them all.

After playing through and completing the Reignited trilogy (skill points and achievements included), I gotta say... ...I didn't miss these intros and outros one bit when I moved on to Spyro 3.

The sci-fi elements in the reignited trilogy strike me as a bit odd, but not in a bad way. They are basically Insomniac's attempts at science fiction before Ratchet and Clank, which would go on to feature more refined ships, robots, lasers, etc. The graphics are updated here, but the same crude shapes from the late 1990s-2000s are basically still there.

These were my favorite parts in Spyro 2.
I like that they decided to keep all the deaths intact. Even some of the more horrific ones like getting crushed or falling into a vat of magma.
