Slots comments afterwards, about the team slackening and not running were perfect, I'm so impressed with his management. Doesn't hide the truth, holds the highest of standards and absolutely no game is perfect, we can always improve. Brilliant.
Watching from Boston (Central SQ - Cambridge, MA) from our LFC Boston Hdqtrs. Season's Greetings!! Whan an early gift this was! Our main pub and 2 overflows were loud and rowdy yesterday. Peter Carney must be busy making his "ArneField" banners and t-shirts! Up The Reds!
Ian Salmon - spot on about feeling sorry for Ange, to some extent at least. He's clearly a good coach, but not close to the level of Slot right now. Good point about the rested players too Mo, they all performed really well yesterday. Spurs are the exception to most rules out there, so yes I was looking for us giving them a drubbing, the way it happened was nearly perfect. Hopefully Ruud isn't able to make the Tories ready to defend like Forest midweek. At least it's a late one, we need to hear the roar of Anfield up and down the country!
I'm surprised we didn't talk more about Gomez for individual performances, he was brilliant. His pass through the lines, kept Son deadly quiet, was so calm in defense and on the ball
What showed me that the reds are really focussed is that post the game vvd locked the team in the dressing room to talk about the 3,2,1,3 goals let in during the last 4 games. No complacency no arrogance…the job is not done yet!
Huge win for the reds! I did feel like Slot could’ve maybe utilised Endo after going 1-5 up, if you’re not going to give him minutes and rest Grav at this point when are you going to give him minutes?
@@rogerdavies2796 he did but even so, Slot mentioned in his post match presser that we stopped running for 20mins, there’s one man on the bench who wouldn’t have stopped running and that’s Endo!
@@renickjeune8761 he really doesn’t. He’s nowhere near as bad as people make out I really think he can play a key role this season. He’s the Milner in this squad
I was thrilled and riveted to watch the Liverpool movement - it was like watching a swarm by a force of vastly greater numbers just overwhelm a defending force - except of course that we actually had the same numbers - it was just like we had an extra 2-3 players. It was a privilege to see it. BUT the two things that Slot will focus them on was (1) yet again we conceded bad goals (and yet again, Robbo was badly at fault for one of them), and (2) we are not finishing enough of our chances (and this has been a problem for years - since Sadio, Bobby and Mo were in their pomp). The defending I am hopeful Slot will sort, especially when he gets Konate back. The poor finishing is not something I think we will fix - simply because most of our forwards are not natural finishers (Gakpo, Diaz, Nunez, Nunes and Chiesa are all in this category, and even Jota is notoriously a player who goes though hot/cold patches, plus of course his injury record. So, we are totally reliant on Mo. That is simply not good enough, and we have to address this through recruitment.
A win is a win but let's not get carried away. Spurs were depleted and looked leggy with less time to recover. We should have easily scored 10 with Salah having missed 5 chances in the first 20mins. It was criminal of him not to pass to Sobo for a simple tap in on 2 mins. Sobo had his best game and for me was the MOTM with Gravenberch / Gomes a close second. The likes of Everton will be a much tougher proposition when you see them keeping out Arsenal and Chelsea.
Enjoy the journey. Last season we we played with 9 men v a full strength Spurs and held them until Matip's last minute brain fart. We actually drew if you count our disallowed goal. So don't be afraid to give credit where it's due
Wow,a proper negative nelly, enjoy what you're seeing and enjoy being top of everything ,if you only celebrate on the last day then you miss out on all the fun in-between
Let’s not get carried away?? When do you get carried away? We’re top of the league at Christmas! Top of all the leagues! In a semi-final! Just when is it okay to get excited?? We were absolutely scintillating, and honestly, I think we’d have blasted a full-strength Spurs side away too. And saying it was criminal Salah didn't pass to Szobo in first 2 mins...he literally just assisted 2 and scored 2 in the game!! Sure, Everton away will be a different kind of challenge, and the players, and Slot, will know that. But for now, let’s enjoy these magnificent reds and the incredible football they’re giving us! Merry Christmas!

A number of our players are on 4 yellows. Hopefully the 5th card comes the game before the FA Cup 3rd tie. Could do with the suspension being Stanley at home
Harsh on Jones to talk about his as merely a rotation option. He's been, on balance, as good as Szobo and macca this season and last but recency bias has obscured this for some reason. Keeps happening to him, and has since he single-handedly salvaged the 22-23 season.
Robertson did play well, but he was poor for their 3rd goal, barely contested the aerial ball when he was right there for it. If that was Tsimikas making that mistake, and all the others Robbo has recently committed, Neil would be calling for him all sorts.
I think Nunez, Jones and Tsimi come in for sure. Dom, Diaz and Robbo rested. I’m 50/50 on Jota coming in to play off Nunez and giving Mac a break, but I doubt Arne would risk it, especially after we lost control when Jones replaced him at 1-5
Don’t really know what Mo is getting at with Slot wanting them going at full-pelt for 90 mins. Whether he wanted it or not, they didn’t, and they still got 3 points. Surely it’s better to have got that little rest in game and still came away with the points than burn themselves out and come away with… 3 points. What’s the difference?
Slot knew Spurs don't stop, and 5 - 1 leads dont guarantee a win. We almost collectively dropped our guard. We weren't bad or even complacent, but levels dropped a little which allowed two goals, both coming out of quality finishing of low XG opportunities. We woke up and it should be a good lesson . Dropping off doesn't mean we become complacent and the team learned the easy way
He just needs some rotation. Playing 2 days a week after a short preseason where he captained his country in the euros , never allowed him to get up to speed. He would benefit from 1 game a weeks for a few weeks. Same with Macca, and grav needs rotating too. Luckily Jones is stepping up, Harvey back will help, but we could do with another body for Grav
@@LAndrewNext deffo. someone with both the passing ability to replace Mac and physicality to replace grav. Tottenham with their high line and the space they leave in behind also really suited sons attributes. Against a low block mac is better in the 10 imo
All praise to Mo and our attack but you know Robbo has had another stinker when even a bunch of absolute homers on Christmas are saying it "might be near the end of his time with us" or what have you. He's been at the scene of yet another conceded goal -- a simple cross to the back post to which he offered no resistance whatsoever -- and that's 8 in 3 matches we've conceded. Robbo is absolutely washed and we are a shambles at the back with different players making errors every match, but hey we scored 6 against the worst defence in the league with only one of their back 5 healthy and starting an 18-yr-old MF at CB, so let's not have any real talk about it, even for 5 minutes.
Definitely a 'cup half empty' kind of guy aren't ya! He also provided some great defence and a couple of wicked passes that led to goals! Leave Robbo alone!
In your imaginary world that might have been 😂 salah absolutly synonymous with hogging the touchline and pinging in crosses from the byline isn't he?!!! 😂
Really can’t be bothered with people rewriting history, Salah had maybe half a season of hugging the touch line and it was before Nunez even turned up. We won two trophies, lost the league by a point and lost the champions league final that season. We can praise Slot and the changes he’s made without acting like everything Klopp did was terrible. I thought he had a shocker often the last two seasons but it was 7 years of brilliance with a little bit of over-lunacy sprinkled in
Klopp made Nunez the focus of the attack and finishing chance creation moments and it did work, because for the second half of last season Nunez had the highest xG, highest missed xG, and the most shots taken - even the most times hit the bar in one game (4 against Chelsea). Klopp made Nunez his focal point/finisher and he just didn’t finish. He was comparable to Haaland in that period but just didn’t score the goals. Klopp was right to make Nunez ‘his’ Dortmund Lewandowski. Don’t knock that
