      This is a old comment.
      I saw some of the comment in this thread ,and are SO shocked.
      Several people are complaining about this might hurt those who needs opiods for the chroic pain they have.
      I mean , can people be SO mislead??
      If a doctor give a chronic sick person opiods as medicin, then yes, it will lead to even more pain, and a strong drug addiction.
      And yes,people doe from it,every day .
      Dont ever use opiods for chronic issues . Find a new dictor whi have your beat at heart,if he want to give you opiods,you need to find a new doctor asap.
      The even worse case then having a chronic pain, is having chronic pain AND a drug addiction.

      No one is doubting the pain you experience or may be in. But pain pills are over prescribed in America. Using them to treat long term paid doesn't help all it does it make things worse. We don't have opiate receptors in our brains. I recommend looking into alternate treatments like kratom or Cannaboids.

    Fentanyl for menstrual cramps?!?

    • @iamcasihart
      @iamcasihart 7 ปีที่แล้ว +63

      Lina Marenco I have stage 3 endometriosis and I've had it since I was 12 years old. I'm now 39 and I wasn't diagnosed until late 2015. I suffered for 25 years without a diagnosis, receiving misdiagnosis and generally just being ignored or treated like shit by doctors who assumed it was "all in my head" or I was "drug seeking."
      About 2 years ago, after *finally* getting my diagnosis via diagnostic laparoscopic surgery, I found an amazing doctor whose entire practice is devoted to the treatment of endometriosis. For my horrifically debilitating pain with which I suffer about half of each month, I'm prescribed strong opioid pain medications. It's given me my life back and I feel 21 years young, with an incredible quality of life.
      So, while regular menstrual cramps may not be just cause to prescribe such strong narcotic pain medication, there are those of us with endometriosis or polycystic ovarian syndrome or some other similar condition, with chronic pelvic & lower back pain that feels like labor pains (multiplied by about 30) is something that no woman should have to live with and suffer through without relief.
      I'm just making a point to speak up for those of us with not just any chronic pain, but specifically chronic pelvic pain related to endometriosis (which is, by the way, an incurable autoimmune disease).
      ✌💛

      I have PCOS and it is NOT painful unless you get a cyst and thats pretty uncommon. Endo and PCOS are not even remotely the same and Endo can only be diagnosed by laparoscopy. PCOS is diagnosed by ultrasound and blood work. Us with PCOS are lucky compared to women with endo who live with chronic debilitating pain. Hats off to women with endo.

    • @iamcasihart
      @iamcasihart 7 ปีที่แล้ว +14

      Christine Thank you! I appreciate the recognition that we ladies with Endo suffer & have it the worst. I cannot express how much the support from others (especially those who don't suffer from this disease) means. So many people are ignorant &/or just clueless as to what Endometriosis even is. Thank you for your comment. And yes, you are correct. PCOS is different from Endometriosis, but I was drawing a comparison for the sake of awareness for both, as well as the hope that, if a person hasn't heard of one, they've surely heard of the other. And both are diseases which affect women, cause a metric fuckton of symptoms & additional secondary illnesses or problems, and more. Awareness is so important. I personally know 3 other ladies with Endometriosis as bad as I have it & I know a handful of ladies who struggle with PCOS & all that it entails. Granted, we "spoonies" with Endo have it awful. No comparison, really. In fact, today is a really bad pain day. Because of that, just 20 minutes ago, I had to take 2 × 20mg Oxycodone & 1 × 800mg Ibuprofen + 1 × 350mg Soma. That is the third round I've taken just today (every 4-6 hours).
      I'm incredibly thankful to have, after 25 years of going undiagnosed, countless doctors & emergency room visits and so much suffering, I found my doctor who is a specialist & his entire practice is dedicated to the treatment & research of endometriosis. My doctor is a skilled surgeon in laparoscopic "Da Vinci method" excision surgery. He has been a keynote and guest speaker all over the United States and abroad, spreading awareness & educating other doctors & medical professionals about this incurable disease. He is not a pain management doctor, but he understands that so many of us can't find a doctor, pain management or otherwise, who will take our pain seriously and treat us with narcotic opioid medication. So he takes it upon himself to do this for his vast number of patients...And with that, comes great responsibility, because of the DEA and how easily these medications can be misused and what not.
      Anyway, there was a short time that I tried using Fentanyl in patcg form. I found so much I disliked about it that it only lasted about 2 weeks. The patch itself was annoying, as I would take a shower or if I got sweaty or whatever, it would be obnoxious...it would slip...it would sometimes be visible...it was noisy, because I could hear it crinkling on my arm or back or chest (wherever I had placed it). Also, an ongoing extended-release narcotic medication like this is one that you can't casually use and then casually stop using. Now, I don't look at any of my pain medication casually, but what I do know is that on days that I have mild to moderate pain, I don't have to take my oxycodone & I can give my body a rest from the strong stuff. It's instant release and I can take it as needed. When someone is using the fentanyl patch, for example, it cannot be taken/used as needed. It's in the system and the withdrawals would be absolutely horrific.
      So, for me. it's best and most convenient that I use an instant release strong opioid medication that I can take for the 10-14 days each month but I am in dire pain... and then, for the other 14 or so days each month that I can manage my more moderate pain with Kratom, I do just that.
      Speaking of Kratom, a natural powder that has been a godsend in my life for several years, it makes me sad, angry & sick that the DEA is trying to banish it and turn it into a schedule I substance. Kratom has helped SO MANY people in a plethora of ways.

      Btw I had pcos and endometriosis both were equally horrible and god awfully painful. My pcos was horrible bc I had large cysts that sometimes would burst or just continuously get larger so to say pcos is not painful is not true all illnesses and diseases all depend on the person.

      Bianca Launder I thought I was passing a kidney stone. When the pain didn’t go away, I thought maybe appendicitis. When I woke up one morning something pulled in my right side and I passed out. The pain was so intense I couldn’t breath or talk. Ended up I had three cysts, one the size of a tangerine that had exploded. Since I’m only 90 pounds the doctors told me to take Motrin LMFAO. I’ve had two hip surgeries at the age of 18 and 19 then at 22 broke both femurs in a military accident, and yet that pain was what made me pass out. It was so intense I had no idea what had happened. I even kept training for a month after my femurs had fractured which led to full breaks but I mean, I cannot even begin to explain how horrific that pain was. I hope you find peace and health hun❤️ dear god that pain

    I was put on the Fentanyl patch after having a segment of my colon removed and it was awful. I constantly felt on the verge of overdose any time my body temperature rose. I didn't have cancer and no you don't have to have cancer, doctors and surgeons can write medication for off label use. I couldn't absorb pain medication in my gut so they used the patch in lieu of oxycodone pills. It's dangerous af so if you are prescribed it make sure you ask about a possible alternative.

    • @NunyaNomi

      Allison Castle And thats because you really are more sensitive. When people take pain medication it works by shutting down pain receptors thus reducing said pain. However when narcotics are taken for extended periods of time the brain begins to produce MORE pain receptors. I suggest you talk to your internal medicine doctor or whomever prescribed the Fentanyl and ask about trying methadone instead. It is a wonderfully effective medication with no psychoactive "high". It feels like taking a Tylenol, you just feel better not all dizzy and doped up. Its been a real blessing for me.

    • @jaclyn.jenkins
      @jaclyn.jenkins 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      you are supposed to avoid overheating, hot baths, long hot showers etc while on the fentanyl patch. it can cause more of the drug to be absorbed through the skin faster than it’s supposed to. i was on the patch for a couple months, but i ended up having a horrible reaction to the adhesive. im just wondering why people enjoy fentanyl. i never experienced a “high” from it, and it’s never been extremely effective for me when used in the ER (the patch wasn’t as effective as my medication i’m currently on).

      Doctors are NOT bound by the Hippocratic Oath! That's a myth. The HO says they will not use the knife (so surgeons couldn't abide by it) nor provide abortions, and there are many things in the HO that are outdated today because it was written about 2,500 years ago. Some take an oath upon graduation but it's neither required for graduation nor required for licensing nor required at all, and doctors in this day and age are not bound by it whatsoever.

    When I finally started seeking help for my anxiety and panic attacks, my psychiatrist prescribed me a liberal amount of Xanax. At first it helped a lot, curbing my anxiety while my other medications started to work. But, eventually we had to start upping the dose because it was becoming less effective. Before I knew it, I was dependent on it, taking it daily, doing nothing now but fueling my anxiety and leaving me feeling like a zombie.
    I had to force myself to wean off, against my psychiatrist's recommendations, but I knew where addiction could lead. Apparently he had another patient that was taking 9mg of Xanax a day, which is VERY high and extremely dangerous to stop.
    While it lead to many horrific panic attacks and near constant tremors, I was able to get myself off the Xanax. I now only take it when I absolutely need it, and have changed psychiatrists.

    • @sajaak940
      @sajaak940 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@amaliasafaryan4256 it was very hard. You need to slowly wean off of it by increasing the amount of time between the doses. Never go cold turkey on these things, that's where the danger arises.
      If I recall, I'd been taking about 3 pills daily. I started by increasing the distance between doses by 1 hour over the course of a week. The next week, 2 hours. Third week, 3 hours. And so on, until there were now 12 hours between each dose (and was basically only taking 2 a day).
      I continued until it was only 1 a day, and finally after nearly two months I felt I was ready to stop taking it. Even though I took it slowly I still had some nasty withdrawals. I should've cut the pills.
      I highly suggest you speak to your doctor before doing this though, or seek a second opinion. While it worked out for me, it's very dangerous to do this alone without guidance.
      Be safe and I hope things get better for you

    I am a recovered drug addict and this is crazy. My choice of drug was opana ( oxymorphone) and there was a doctor where I live that was a cash only office and you could go in and just tell the doctor what you wanted. So all the ppl who sold drugs would send ppl there and pay for their visit actually take them to the office drop them back off at their house but take their prescription to the pharmacy and wait on it. Those ppl insurance would pay on the medication. I had to have surgery while I was an addict and I done an opana before I went then after my doctor prescribed me Dilaudid bc I was gonna be in some serious pain due to a nerve being crushed and he said it was going to be extremely painful and that was the only reason he prescribed it and he is a damn good doctor he doesnt write anything higher than hydrocodone 5/325. Well being as strong out as I was and opana being way way stronger even stronger than oxycontin and morphine it didnt work so I had to sell them to ppl who shot up bc 1 thing I would t do is put a needle in my arm. After I got them sold and went and bought the opana or moons as they called them bc they had a half moon on them I snorted 1 whole 15mg pill by myself I was in pain but had never done a whole pill usually just a quarter. 3 days later I decided I needed help and badly bc that night that I did the whole pill as I was laying in bed I felt such peace, my mind wasn't running 100mph like normal I has no anxiety nothing. I honestly think if I wouldn't have prayed to God that night and telling him I need help with my drug problem I would have died. There are so many stories about ppl dying from overdose where they say they feel worry free no nothing just complete peace. I thought about that as I was laying in bed. I prayed to God that he would let me live bc I had 2 kids at the time I wasn't ready to go. The only reason I even became addicted is bc I had had a surgery about a month prior to trying opana and the surgeon kept giving me Roxy and after my surgery and those pain pills were gone which I had been taking as prescribed I did start going through some withdrawals which made me feel like complete shit and then someone I know who was like another mom to me had these moons and she crushed a pill and cut me a tiny little line said I had to snort it or it wouldn't really help I trusted this woman and she said it would take the edge off and I'd be okay but within 2 min if that of snorting that garbage and I had never snorted anything before it hit me so hard like an iv pain killer at the hospital and I was going through a really rough time with my daddy and my brother dying and my youngest daughter that I had to place for adoption with family and that pill number it all. These doctors who do this shit don't give a fuck and I'm really lucky to have made it out sober since Sept 19th 2017. God helped me. ot the surgeon who operated on my stomach and writing me Roxy for 3 mo this while they tried to figure out what was wrong with me.

    They gave me fentanyl patches and 30 mg oxys for menstrual/endometriosis/back problems. I was 29- never too a damn thing EXCEPT for jaw surgery/c-secs. I didn't know anything about this stuff until going to a VA pain clinic, then passing out on my dads floor (Christmas visit) w/the stove on at 2:30 a.m., a t-shirt on, & no memory whatsoever. VERY SCARY, extremely potent, and on top of it I was allergic. I self medicated for awhile because (my excuse) I did EVERYTHING in the household from college, work, my babies (very well loved taken care of), all bills. Their "dad" my ex of 16 years did anything and everything you can imagine wrong, illegal, gamble, drugs(stole mine) so I gave myself permission to take them for the "pain" (internal/ex) & to keep my energy levels ☝. I AM SO THANKFUL I just tossed it all & never took anything unless I ABSOLUTELY had/have to which is possibly 2x a year. I can ONLY take either a 5mg or 10 now because it makes me ill plus allergies. Stay away from it if you don't need it, there's so many times I can't recall things I did. No, I never endangered my children or others driving or anything. I was a "smart" stupid pill popper 😒😈😠🚫

    was given fentanyl to manage post-surgical pain, as in immediately after sugery not recovery at home (only given 800mg ibuprofen). Stuff is so strong I was almost jogging to the bathroom after waking from anasthesia. nurses had to tell me to take it easy because even tho I couldn't feel anything I didn't want to do damage. i'd had a similar surgery a few months prior and was given morphine and i could DEF tell i'd had a surgery. morphine barely touched the pain. crazy that with fentanyl I could not tell AT ALL that my stomach had been stabbed and internal organs moved around. strong stuff. i was grateful for the way it managed my post-surgical pain tho. shame that both doctors and patients abuse it thus making it harder for those who need it.

    I agree what he was doing was wrong... but can we please acknowledge that cancer pain and surgery is NOT the only the only reason pain meds should be prescribed. There are chronic conditions such as lupus, Ehlers danlos syndrome etc... and many people with these conditions either have terrible flare ups that may require pain meds maybe 3-5 times a month or they may not be responding to other non opiate pain relief and they’re suffering daily and they can’t get opiates because now it’s only for acute pain or cancer. We went from one extreme to another... theres a middle option. Can someone explain that to the medical industry ?

    • @andrearobinson3911

      Touche! I'm about to turn 38 and I've had 7 surgeries.. I suffer from endometriosis, interstitial cystitis, pudendal neuralgia, arthritis of the lower back, ibs-d (with chronic inflammation from my esophagus to my rectum [more likely crohns disease]), tendonosis in my right shoulder, and permanent post op pain related to transvaginal mesh to correct a 50% prolapse of all pelvic organs. I can't take otc pain meds except Tylenol due to the inflammation. I am the perfect candidate for pain medication and can't get it. I don't even go to the doctor anymore because the only conditions I deal with are pain related.. Why bother? So, for those saying doctors are just drug dealers, some of us can only function after pain pills, otherwise, we live our lives in bed.

    Does anyone know about the websites to look up our doctor's affiliates with these drug company's? Please share if so. I had a scary experience with Oxycodone and luckily smart enough to only take one half of a pill and flush the other 6 pills down the toilet. I was very traumatized by the whole experience . I only took HALF of the dose they prescribed to me and I still hallucinated and couldn't control my own body so I had to tell my spouse to flush the pills because I was "hearing a voice telling me to take more " it took me THREE days to not crave it anymore. I was lucky enough to have my husband with me at all times because I honestly don't know if I would have made it out on my own.

We’re not talking about candy here,those pills are very powerful and dangerous especially when they used for wrong purpose.
