Knowing "I Will Survive" pretty well before "After Like", I was also thrown off for a while since I couldn't stop thinking about the og song whenever the sample played. But after a few listens, "After Like" started owning the melody in my ears and it definitely fit better. I just had to completely separate the two songs in my mind haha
I Will Survive is definitely a very iconic song so I understand how the sample will immediately make people associate the part with the original song's meaning. However, if you listen to the sample objectively the upbeat disco version of After Like is a completely different mood from I Will Survive. For Love Dive, what you referred to as the pre-chorus was actually the chorus. The “narcissistic” was the chorus and the brighter part was actually the post-chorus before the second verse.

I was a bit unsure about the choice of sampling for this style of song when you’re looking at lyrically and it definitely sounds good and sonically it works… but I just kinda wished they kept the song more original to them… that’s just personal preference and my love and respect for “I will survive” lol I think sampling is trendy again… I just love the music of all their songs I’ve heard so I tend to dig original… they’re all great and after like is my least favorite as well… but I do like it… but I love eleven and love dive. I always watch you mainly for BTS stuff.. but I always like to listen to your thoughts in music and vocals especially… you tend to say what I’m thinking more often than not lol
