    Nice demonstration... I think this is top of my list out of the hardtails I'm looking at in that price group, I have similar trails near me. How tall are you and what size frame did you have there? I'm 178cm, according to their website I'm on the upper threshold for the medium and lower threshold for the large. I realise the differences between upsizing and downsizing, its a clearer choice with the laufey (lrg) or fathom (med).
    I previously had an older medium Giant Xtc which I was dialled into, but its geometry was different to this. I tried a large rockhopper at my local store for size the other day and couldn't decide without a proper ride out. Any advice of this?

    • @HitTheTrailsMTB
      @HitTheTrailsMTB  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hey mate I got the medium and about 173 cm I think for this type of riding like rocky descending something slightly bigger and more stable like the large would be good! But if you like the bike more playful and easier to throw around the medium would be also good! I hope this helps mate!

    • @Jcee4
      @Jcee4 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@HitTheTrailsMTB Yeah, every bit of input is going to be helpful towards making my decision. I like a playful feel to my ride, but when you are right boardline on some frames I don't want to feel uncomfortable on longer runs. Thanks for your input.
      Update: I just pulled the trigger on one of these, I can't wait to take it out for a ride when it arrives.

    • @davidh7414
      @davidh7414 3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      I have the 2021 Fluid HT. With my 130mm upgraded fork, its geometry is almost identical to the fuse. I'm 178cm tall and I fit the Large Fluid HT. I'd suggest the large Fuse will be ok for you.

    • @Jcee4
      @Jcee4 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@davidh7414 Thanks for the feedback. I was actually leaning towards the large size, to the point where it was in my basket. I went over the geometry specs again and even consulted with the specialized concept store and ultimately I was right borderline on sizes, yet they recommended a medium given the choice. I know now I would fit both sizes, and it was a prime case of my prefered ride style.
      I agree, I think I would be ok on the large, but I pulled the trigger on the medium for the playfulness and control aspect, as I feel it will be more of a "feel good" motion on my ride, especially with its adjustable drop out capability.
      I reckon if I were in the same position looking at a fast XC bike, I would have opted for a large.
      I appreciate your feedback, I'll let you guys know how it rides when it gets here, but thanks to this video combined with hardtail party's take on it, I'm looking forward to this ride.
      Update: I'm reviewing this with Specialized concept store and will let you know what happens in case anyone in the same position is in as much as a undecided mess as me :D

      I’m 180cm and have the Fuse 2020 in large. It’s a dream. I use the shortest position of chainstay and it’s nimble for days. Not even once have I wished for a smaller frame. Good luck

    Brakes are underpowered…The fork is total junk. It has no small bump compliance. My seat is broken after 4 rides. Lever for dropper post is already sticking after 4 rides. This bike is under spec’d. I can take this on trails but the components don’t seem to perform well. The bike industry is now for rich weenies. Gotta spend $3,500 to get a decent hard tail…in this aluminum crap frame…So fragile. The bottom bracket creaks already because there are no seals for the internal cable routing. It’s tights as can be. So much chainslap. Not a good chain guard. I’m 6,1”. The large is too small and the XL is too big. The 29” wheels increase and decrease in speed so quickly I find myself constantly shifting for the right gear. This bike would be good with 27.5” wheels. But the entry level fuse is a grocery getter. So disappointed. This rides like an XC bike. Not a trail bike.

    • @PureBlood777

      Would this bike work for somebody who’s 260 pounds? What Hardtail would you recommend

    • @HitTheTrailsMTB
      @HitTheTrailsMTB  3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      yeah I agree it's not the best fork or the best brake in the industry but it fits within its price range, and to be honest the brake and fork performed much better than I expected! I dont know how your seat broke maybe a stack? Dropper lever might just a bit of silicone spray to free it up or maybe the cable was fitted in correctly best look into that usually things like that are an easy fix, I think it definitely is trail ready but maybe you bought this bike thinking it would perform like a more expensive bike but in all industries you pay for what you get. But like I said this is pretty dialed for its price in my opinion, also check if the bottom bracket is tight I doubt water damage would destroy it in 4 rides. But either just check over the bike as often as you can preventative maintenance is a thing and it helps for sure. Goodluck in future mate!

    • @a.l.8618
      @a.l.8618 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I should have bought the Jamis dragon. This bike is not what I thought it was going to be. Maybe I’ll run a mullet to see if it rides any better. Constant leg burn too. 29ers are not fun. I often go faster then then bike is geared for. And it feels like it spins out on the flats. Such a weird machine.
