ABOUT BEARDBRAND
Beardbrand is a men’s grooming company that focuses on beard care. We are changing the way to society views beardsmen by shifting beards to a more neutral to positive connotation. We post new videos every Thursday and would love your subscription. Beard on!
Sometimes you want to look like you've been hanging out on the beach all day and have that dry gritty hair from swimming in the ocean. I like to call this the beach bum hair style, sea salt hair, or wavy hair. It's a pretty easy process to get this look. All you'll need is a hair dryer, sea salt, and some styling product. For this I'm using Hanz de Fuko Quicksand which gives a very gritty beach like texture.
I like to apply the products to the hair while it's still wet then use the scrunching technique and a hair dryer with a diffuser to get the wavy look. I personally like using a high end hair dryer because it will be able to dry my hair quicker with less heat.

"everyone needs a good blow"
couldn't agree with that sentence more
I'm not gonna lie, this is the first time I've ever grown my hair out longer than like 5-6 inches and you've been such a help. It's especially hard in the in-between stages between shorter and longer hair where no matter what you do it still looks goofy. You're a great recourse for confidence boosting and getting acquainted with certain hair products for the first time. Thank you!
+Clark The Shark Always glad we can help! Keep on growing, brother!
-Zach
Connor Clark Design how’d the entire experience go
@@Beardbrand Pretty expensive; but I do need more hair on my head - please provide cheaper alternatives
I been growing my hair for 9 months now and I've got good and bad comments about my hair your videos make me keep going, thanks for making this awesome videos👍
+esquides Glad we can help, man!
-Zach
I loved your performance in that film, Castaway.
Thanks, I'm still collecting royalties.

Growing my hair out, along with my beard, and it's great to see a guy who isn't doing a side cut and allowing his hair to grow naturally.
Thanks for some great ideas.
I’m a hairdresser and I think you did a great job educating viewers.
Your personality is very likable and not annoying. Using the diffuser was smart, guys need good dryers and products. 👍🏼
Thanks to you and this channel I gained a lot more confidence about my beard and my hair in general. Whenever i get mad about how my hair hold or how my beard looks, i come back on this channel and after that I feel totally good. Never stop PLEASE. Cheers from Italy
Andrea Fabbri Thank you so much for the comment and I'm glad to help! I love making the videos and it makes it so much better when I hear things like this. Keep the comments coming and THANK YOU!
I'm a girl and I'll admit I learned a few things from this tutorial. It was the first time I've seen a guy do a hair tutorial and it's kind of hilarious how different it was, but seems you know your market. The reason I'm commenting is that I loved the authentic ask at the end for subscribers and feedback. To the extent that I'll be referring guy friends to you. Great job!
***** Ha, I'm sure my style is significantly different than most female beauty TH-camrs. I enjoy making these videos and responding to comments so it really means a lot to me for you to comment and to share the video as well. Thank you!
I’m in the process of growing my hair out again and I always struggled to maintain it so I ended up cutting it short! Always regretted it afterwards so this is a great tip for when it’s long again! Thanks 👌🏻
Awesome man! Showed the look to my wife and she said yes.....do it.....I'm hoping she wasn't just saying yes to you fella!
Loving beardbrand vids. Big help to a beards man.
It can really make your hairstyle look super cool! Let us know how it turns out! Beard on!
-Josh
Thanks man, this is the only video that Ive found on the subject that includes "scrunching" which has changed the game for me.
I was thinking about cutting my hair, which has been growing for over a year. Thank you for making me change my decision!
jeffrey becker jr Oh man, would suck to give up on a year of growth. When in doubt grow it out. There are definitely some cool things you can do with it.
I went to the ocean last weekend and had this happen to my hair. I was so bummed when i washed it out! I am no longer sad, thank you! haha
Dude. I haven’t grown out my hair but mine is naturally pretty straight. I’m liking this way in advance because that’s the look I’m goin for
straight away I thought of Jim Root from Slipknot
I’m a minute and a half into the video and already loving the innuendos
That hairstyle looks amazing with the beard!
I've decided to grow my hair out and I believe I'll use this method. Love all the great videos and the great beard oil. Beard on brother.
blstrge1 Give it a shot. I don't do it everyday; but for a different look it's fun.
very great video! thanks so much!
+Dre Drexler DUDE! Thanks so much for the comments and we should figure out how to do some collaboration video. I think we could do something fun.
Why isn't there a collab yet? :(
Ive been growing it for 4 months it looks kinda stupid now but im starting to see some natural waves maybe, it reaches just the bottom of my eyes, i hope i can grow it to my mouth before summer. Man if i have wavy hair im never gonna cut it again
***** I've been working on my diet as well trying to improve it. I've cut out red meats as a start as a long term goal to minimize my risk of colon cancer. I gotta step up my workout routine though.
the struggle is real.
Red meat is not bad for you.
Abhishek Tadikonda ......meat is definitely linked to all sorts of health conditions, notably Cancers, obesity and heart disease.
Red meat is also more acidic than white meat and as you can imagine too much acidic food puts your body out of balance.....probably not a good thing.
james harris pseudoscience bs
How long did it took you to grow out your hair?
I rate the fact you have the polo shirt buttons undone to show of the chain it’s a very underrated look.
I've recently started using hair mousse, I prefer it to wax because it doesn't make my hair hard and crispy. It just leaves it with a little volume without it looking like you've got anything in your hair.
Christian Van-Ristell I've heard that mousse is making a big comeback. I've found that applying stuff while wet then working it dry has prevented any type of "product" type of feel. Different stuff has different strengths (but that's pretty obvious).
oh lord hopefully my hair grows out like this
+TheGamingg33k if you have more finer hair you could
I used to have very long hair but it's been a while, so I decided to start growing again. This video is awesome and I love how it looks, I'll try it out when my hair is long enough!
I whip my hair side to side, I whip my hair side to side!!!!! it got to my mind while watching the video thumps up bro.
You seem like a cool ass dude. Love this channel. Been a beardbrand follower for quite sometime now. I will admit I have cheated and tried other beard oils over the years and always come crawling right back with my tail tucked between my legs. Best products I have ever used.
I understand the temptation. Glad you're still coming back to the best though 😉 😉
-Josh
I ordered Claymation and Modify Pomade from HDF recently. The clay was out of stock so they sent me the MP and a sample of scheme cream, quicksand, hybridized wax, and sponge wax, a week later the claymation finally arrived. Totalling 6.
Really good stuff and fun to try out the different products and what styles they can be used for. It's far better quality stuff than anything I've ever used before.
Also, still enjoying the the tea tree oil and wax. It's really pulled my shit together.
Thanks Eric-keep posting.
Dave.
***** That's sweet man. I haven't really found a way to to use their high shine products, but I think that's my hair type. Maybe I should try some more. Glad you are enjoying the Beardbrand products and really appreciate your comments.
I was going to cut my hair... until I saw this video.
I immediately changed my mind -
Thank you!!!
Gilbert Medina Sweet man and when in doubt; grow it out. You can always trim it later.
It's funny because my hair is naturally very curly, yet I still watch videos like this even though they don't apply to me. Just because I love your videos, and I watch them every single week, doesn't matter what it is.
daanfentoon Hell ya! I really appreciate it. If there is any other topics that you think are on point I'd love to cover those. One person suggested trying to find a curly hair talent to add to the channel.
Beardbrand that'd be awesome! I'd volunteer but I'm young with an eh beard and still having difficulty keeping this hair good looking haha
I've been growing my hair out for 2 years now, because I liked to full man bun. But honestly, the style gets boring after a while. I might cut my hair to your length so I can try this style. I don't think this style would work well with the length it is at now. It looks amazing on you! I'm planning on going short again anyways, to instead of going from long to short, I'll try this 'inbetween' step :)
I have been growing it for 15 months and same
Very helpful Eric! I am just passing the awkward stage and your video is the best I've seen. Beardsmen Unite!
The shorter beard with the longer hair makes you look quite a bit younger. Pretty crazy. Looks good.
***** Actually, I've found the fountain of youth down here in Austin. It's beautiful; but I'm not going to tell anyone where it is. :D
Did this for the first time today, my hair looks amazing, thanks dude
Sweet! Excellent choice!
- Jack
So I recently decided to go for it and grow my beard out. I am so glad I found your channel Thank you for all the info I've only been growing it for 2 months , I'm super anxious to see how this will go
javier ortega Heck ya man! Good luck with the journey and remember; when in doubt - grow it out.
You are the only people who have a fun sense of humour in these kind of vidoes!
***** Hair care is serious business man!
i have curly hair and i find it hard to control, i like my hair very long but is there any way i can keep it straight ish but little heat damage?
This is the best vid... I have seen for how to use sea salt spray.... Thanks for information mate... I appreciate that
May use some variant of this, after a large amount of experimenting, to achieve a windblown sky pirate look for my steampunk cosplay. Thanks to the tips and tricks I've learnt from your videos my beard and hair are looking so much nicer, still working on the alterations to my diet, something I'd already been working on for medical reasons. Also still playing around with the top knot/bun a bit, trying to get an imperial look.
Great stuff man! Showing my appreciation. Love these videos. Wish you luck!
+Alin Bolcas Thanks for the kind words and glad you enjoyed the video. Really means a lot to read them.
I do this style but differently. I put my hair in a bun and leave it for like 20 minutes and then take the hair tie out. It does the wave thing and then i put a little sea salt spray
First Step: don't be bald
:'(
Rodolfo Marques Bombonato Ya, I suppose that is helpful in this tutorial. :-\
Rodolfo Marques Bombonato or have waaay toó much hair like me
bald shmald, grow it out dawg
dropbit Some people can't grow hair anymore as they get older.
this is exactly what I have been looming for bro , thanks for all these helpful videos
Makes you look so youthful! I love it!!
my hair has the same colour as yours, but it is impossible for me to style it like that, because unlike your hair, mine is very porous, puffy, awkwardly curly, not supple at all, and extremely oily, i would love to know how to get it as healthy as your hair, thank you!
Random lady here...hey haha You're incredibly handsome. Good to see more men growing out their hair! Good luck!
+Abelinda Morte Thank you for the kind words! Good to see more women posting on here. There just aren't that many of y'all.
Volts (or potential difference) comes from the mains supply of electricity. The wattage is the power output of the device, the rate it transfers electrical energy into other forms of energy, in this case thermal energy and kinetic energy as well as wasted sound.
Such a healthy hair & full beard.. im new in this letting it grow journey 😉🙃
Subbed at that glorious flip. Keep on rocking man!
just made a spray today love how it changes the hairstyle, great vid bro.
Dude, this haircut is totally badass-rockandroll-cool.
LeFateuser Hah, I like that description! It's definitely fun to pull off.
Just binged Outer Banks, been growing out my hair for a few months now so I might try this, hoping I can pull it off. Idk we’ll see tomorrow. Our hair types seem similar so I’m literally gonna follow this step by step and hope it turns out 😂
This video is riddled with dirty subliminal messages Lmao
Pretty Flacko :D I couldn't help myself with this video.
Oh good.....thought it was me lol
close your eyes and hear his Kermit the frog voice lolol
sounds more like bert from Sesame Street
I heard Ray Romano!
I hear Manny from ice age
Lol
More like Bobcat Goldthwait.
It's very cool man. I use quicksand too but my hair is a lot shorter so i go for a volumised version of a sweepover. Anyway great job!
Vlad Oncu Ya the quicksand will give tons of volume. Appreciate the comment!
Every time you come up with a new video, you outdo your previous ones. Your beach hair goes great with your longer beard. I like it as it is getting longer. So, grow on sir, and keep making great videos.
beardedfather Thank you Tom and my apologies on the delay in response. I've got it still market to respond to; so I appreciate your patience.
You guys spending all this time on ocean hair and I’m over here living it 24/7
I´m watching a man teaching me how to actually give texture to my hair hahaha thats so cool, thank you
useful video, I ordered some sea salt spray and had no idea how to use it. just learned the scrunching technique
Are you liking the Sea Salt Spray now that you know how to use it?
-Parker
Eric... what should i say?! It was just another awesome video from You. I enjoy watching you and listening to your advices tips etc. After every video i really feel happy. Keep up the great work and..... Beard on!!!
Tomasz Sochacki I really appreciate the kind words Tomasz. I feel like I'm finding my groove as a videographer and host. Definitely having a lot of fun.
This is great! I'm definitely gonna try this out soon
+Griffin McDonald Hell ya! Good luck.
Hey great tutorial man! I tried out this look the next day after seeing it. I've got much shorter hair than you, but it still got a little bit of waviness in my hair. This look is going to help me out through the awkward stages of growing my hair out. Thanks a lot for keeping making great videos!
Pontus Johansson Happy to help and glad you are rocking different looks as you grow.
thumbs up.. I always appreciate and video that straight forward to the point without a whole bunch of extra personal stuff thank you....
+Ms. Me Glad you enjoy the videos, and thanks for the love!
-Zach
Growing out my hair because I got my moms hair genes and not my dads (I’d be buzz cutting at 28 lol). Really liking the waves. But I feel the need to touch it a lot
Nice video, as always. Quicksand has been my "go to" hair product for awhile now. It's not greasy or sticky. High hold + matte finish. I have used sea salt and Quicksand for extra volume and texture for the quiff hairstyle. Anyhow, great video. Beard On!
RJ Gerard Good to hear others are out there also using it. I do like the product a lot because it's so easy to apply vs a clay based product. Since I have oily hair, it's also good to keep things nice & matte.
Makes me feel good that someone actually wants their hair to look like this seeing as my hair naturally looks exactly like that and it causes me all kinds of trouble
Dude, the beach bum look is sweet. I'm going to have to try that. Thanks!
Let us know how it turns out!
You're beard is looking really great in this video man !
Cédric B Thanks man. One of my good beard days I suppose. Appreciate the comment.
The overall style and of course the hair color and beard are reminiscent of Tormund Giantsbane from Game of Thrones
sTeAmPuNkHoUsExD3 Ya, that dude is epic. Flattered for the comparison.
Ahahah the shaking part! The hairstyle looks so cool! :)
Diana Costa Thank you Diana!
You guys are great. Learned so much. Bought my first group of products. Love 'em. Cheers!
You are looking great in this hair style.
Good stuff man. I’m growing my hair out now and it’s still pretty short. Gonna keep an eye on your channel because it’s a pretty fun topic. Thanks.
Love your vids! Keep em coming... I'll be growing my beard this time next year when i get out of the Marines. Been in for 10 years... And I'll be buying your stuff! Cant wait.
#awesomestuff
Andrew Smith Hell ya! We have tons of ex-military customers who finally get to grow their facial hair out. I can't imagine having to be beardless for 10 years!
Its been a long time coming and i can't wait. Love the Beard!
Beardbrand lumber yard scent salt spray is the best smelling thing I have every sprayed on any part of myself--hair OR body. (And yes, I'm a woman.)
My hair is naturally like this, but it looks great on you! I like the way you go step by step. You're videos are great man keep it up.
+Austin Desch Thank you very much, Austin!
+Beardbrand No problem man, anytime! 😊
Lmao my hair is naturally "the beach bum" look, I didn't even know that was a thing. Cool vid.
+Luke Hall Hell ya man. It's an awesome look.

Just wanted to stop by and say I'm lovin your channel. Also enjoy watchin your hair growing progress, I've stuck with mine since I last commented... Slow and steady growin haha
Kenny Chapman Appreciate it Kenny. It's fun journey as well. Sometimes I love it; other times I get mildly annoyed with it.
Beardbrand I agree with you 100%
you legit have the greatest hair
Your videos always help to distract my kid while he's teething
Ben Ranfeld LOL, my voice must have some trance like ability. Unfortunately it doesn't seem to work on my teething daughter. Hah.
Seeing all these awesome hair tutorials makes me wish I had longer hair!
subatomicflame Well it's all new to me as well. Also keep in mind, that I don't normally film on bad hair days. :D
This channel is awesome! Iv been looking for a single place to have advice for all kinds of hair and beard techniques.. Im at the beggining of the awkward stages so I like to know what to expect. Thanks!
Long hair is the best ill need to try this it looks really good
sovokai Harvey Give it a shot and let me know how it turns out.
this was really helpful and you just earned a subscriber nice job!
"Everybody needs a good blow." You bet, man! (And us bearded guys get them almost without asking ;)
Chris Daron :D Definitely easier than the non-bearded guys.
Chris Daron I don't have a beard, but bravo for that comment
men blown by other men
*Almost * being the operative word
Yeah all you guys with beards are blowing other dudes with beards. Lmao just playin
Just so happens I bought myself some sea salt spray last month and 2 weeks ago my HDF Quicksand also arrived. Been doing something very similar recently. I also worn an alice band with this look.
james harris How do you dig the alice band? I haven't used something like that before.
Hey Eric Beardbrand, it's easy, practical and LAZY! I've probably had a few stares but a few compliments too, to balance it out. Which is cool in this damned awkward stage.
It definitely was another kick ass video
Carlos Segovia Thank you my friend!
Great Video, very descriptive. I am currently growing out an undercut, about 5 1/2 in. on top, and about an inch on the sides. Just picked up the sea salt spray, and was looking to see how to use it. Thanks for the help! For your eating habits, have you checked out the Daniel Plan? I have had health issues, blood related ones, high cholesterol and such, but this plan is from the Bible, and is basically eat all you would normally, but it has to be real food. Anything natural. Chicken, eggs, fruits, veggies, nuts, salts. Check it out. I didn't need to lose a ton of wait or anything, but I can't believe the improvements to my overall health. Enjoy.
You look great. The longer hair really matches the beard well. Keep it up, and thanks for showing us all the angles.
fivemile13 Appreciate the kind words and I've learned a lot from *****. He's got a great channel that you should also check out.
Sea salt sprays are really awesome, they give you alot of volume , but they make your hair very stiff . Personally , I prefer to use keratin hair spray. It keeps your hair healthy and free from frizz
With the Sea Salt Spray, you gotta keep in mind that it doesn't take much. Just 2 to 3 sprays should set you up.
- Jack
what brand sea salt spray did you use?
Great video! Great hair!
***** Thank you and glad you enjoyed!
I remember when you guys were a small company congrats on growing I see they sell your product at target now “keep on growing “
Awesome video and nice progress on the hair growth!
Cristian Silva Thank you! It's been fun growing.
I hope my hair looks as great as yours does when mine grows out. Keep up the great videos.
Looks way better at the end of the vid!
Good stuff... appreciate your sincerity and vibe. Thanks!
Looks cool, great video!
Your hair tutorials sir!, are the best. Thank you, subscribed!
