i was at cinci’s first game in seattle in 2019 and we wrecked them. i love the rivalry in ohio. in 20 years it will be so engrained.

"I don't know where else you see that in sports" - true, you don't usually see football teams (yes, it's football) moving cities or states. They are usually deep rooted in their communities and that's what creates commitment and strong support. That and the relegation/promotion factor. I hope MLS can achieve both.
I don't think the promotion/relegation is needed. That's not how US professional sports are run and the MLS is finally making money. The first two professional soccer leagues both collapsed and even the MLS was in debt in 2004.
It needs to be run like other US sports.

Lol rivalries in MLS are rated G. Go check out the rivalries in Brazil, Peru, Argentina, Spain, England, Netherlands, even in Mexico. You’ll see death, destruction of property, huge fights, flares thrown. MLS needs history to evolve into the chaos that other football nations experience, and I really would love to see something similar lol

There is a big billboard up I -71 which is the highway to go from Cincinnati to Columbus and vice-versa that reads "HELL IS REAL"... and that is where it comes from :)

Although it's too soon to call LAFC x LA Galaxy, Columbus Crew x FC Cincinnati and NYFC x NY Red Bulls derbies, I think Montreal Impact x Toronto FC and Portland Timbers x Seattle Sounders true rivalries. They go way back and in the canadian derby there's even a cultural thing: French Canada x English Canada
Can't call it a rivalry, not yet. There has to be more history between the clubs then just one open cup game and one MLS game. To be fair Columbus Crew and FC Cincy can become a good rivalry but it just needs more history and high stakes matches like a playoff match or conference final. A good example of a rivalry is the Seattle Sounders vs Portland Timbers, 40 years in NASL, USL, and MLS fighting for the league, playoffs, and of course the Cascadia cup.

Existing rivalries between cities bleeding onto the field and into the stands counts as history to me. I hated Dallas since before the Dynamo were introduced.

Americans are obsessed with rivalries. Everyone has to have a rival lol. That's not how it goes. There's maybe 3 rivalries in the mls (torontoVmontreal, portlandVsounders, dcVnewyork). All the other ones are forced rivalries.
The only real Rivalry is TFC VS MTL not these forces crap..

No, there is no artificialness in this. Sure, the latest venue, sports in general and the MLS in particular, is new, the rivalry between the two cities is not, for various reasons. This was an inevitable rivalry the second the two had sports teams in the same professional league (doesn't matter the sport).

I have no idea how the Franchise system works, by moving a 'City' based team to another city? WTF? How is that possible? I will never understand this weirdness. You have to up sticks lock stock and barrel? My tiny mind has shut down, sorry I'm out.
To be fair, it has happened in many football clubs, even in traditional football places. Here in Brazil, I know of at least 3 clubs that moved to another city. Of course, all of them were small clubs in lower tiers, but still. Same happened in England, when Wimbledon moved to Milton Keynes and became the MK Dons.
