Looks pretty powerful for a small machine, not labouring at all. I've never owned a shredder but have used some of the cheap ones and found them worse than useless. I need one!
The mulcher part has been redesigned because it kept blocking up - lopped off 2/3rd off the mulcher shoot!! Note how it nearly 'stalls' several times during the demo with 'light' duty. The problem with the Forest Master chippers is that they can only cope with 'green' wood, ie that has been cut within the last few days. After that the chipper tries to chip the wood into dust and blocks up in no time flat. Fastenings are not a single component but washer, split washer and nut - not ideal when you are out in the field - take a sheet to put it on so you don't loose anything. Some other chippers of similar power don't have this issue suggesting a design issue with the Forest Master chipper - so preferably look elsewhere if the wood to chip is more than a few days old!!. So hopefully they'll also sort out this non-green-wood issue in the future.
All shredders work great when they're brand new and have sharp blades. The problems come when the blades begin to dull and softer material starts clogging up the feed tube. For this machine consider how easy are they to sharpen or how cheap to replace?
The beginning of this video is actually performed on used blades, we reverse the blades at the 0:27 mark. The blades themselves are reversible and replacements are available on our website. If you so wish, you can also sharpen the blades yourself via an oil stone/angle grinder. Thanks for your comment!
I have one of your petrol wood chippers and I love it. What is the difference b/n the mulcher and chipper inside? If you bring out a conversion kit what would it involve? Thanks - great products 👍
Hi Andrew! Glad you're enjoying our FM6DD. The garden shredder/mulcher features a number of improvements and added functionality over the FM6DD, the main improvement being the design of the drum. The drum inside the machine is grated which prevents anything over 10mm from exiting the chute, this allows it to go around the drum to be cut down further until it is 10mm down. We're working on a conversion kit that would essentially be a new drum for your FM6DD machine.
@@ForestMaster Does the grated drum make chipping wood take longer, especially does it keep the wood from being "automatically" towed into the machine? I'm asking because I think about getting either the chipper or the mulcher+chipping chute. While my very main use would be chipping branches. 2nd question, it seems this orange metal security thing from the chipper is not there anymore at the mulcher, what's the reason? i mean branches certainly feed better into the machine without the artificially reduced opening
Hi, thanks for your comment! The machine itself can actually rotate to adjust the angle of both the hopper and chute. This allows you to place a bag underneath the exit chute. Additionally, we are working on an accessory for the mulcher in the form of a high-level chute which would allow you to direct the chips into a barrow.
Hi Kevin, Thanks for the feedback. We've recently upgraded this model to have a folding chute, you can see this in practice on our website. I hope to have a new video of this chute available soon.
I have been thinking of buying the EU FM4DDE when you get in stock, but I have a fench with the same laurel leaves I believe they are called ad in this video. Will they clog in the EU FM4DDE, so I need to buy this one? This I believe wont take branches up to 5 cm ?
Hey, you will require the FM4DDE-MUL. When processing leaves with branches it creates no issue at all. Sometimes, if you're processing just the leaves by themselves you will need to push it down with something just due to their lightweight nature. Both the FM6DD and the FM4DDE mulchers are capable of processing branches up to 2 inches in diameter.
Hi Derek, unfortunately, we don't currently have a distributor for the mulcher in the Rep of Ireland. However, we can sell and ship directly to you from our website. Head to www.forest-master.com
As a very happy fm6dd owner is it possible to do a conversion to mulch cardboard ? I have an obscene amount of delivery cardboard I could do with mulching.
Hi Gino, we're currently working on a way to convert the FM6DD to a mulcher due to popular request. However, we're not sure when this will be available. It's likely that we won't have a solution for this until later in the year. I hope your FM6DD is still treating you well!
Hey! Yes, we do have an electric counterpart to this model. You can find it directly on our website here : forest-master.com/product/compact-4hp-electric-garden-mulcher/
That’s one way to chop your veg for dinner! 😜

Would benefit greatly from some kind of frame to sit on, so the output can be caught in a barrow / bag.

Do you have electric powered machine like this? How to purchase it?
How good is this for leaves?
Will there be an electric version of this one in the future?
Hi Per, There is an electric version of this model available for purchase right now on our website. www.forest-master.com
Nice machine, why is the outlet set so low to the ground?
