no the fact that they went an extra mile to create an entire soulful experience series for us with this concept and the animations. i can nvr ask for more thank u
This is the “Last Ride” of 7 Or the “Irene” of “Bloom” or what about the “Days of candy” of “Depression Cherry”... I definitely love every last track of their albums.
This album is a masterpiece, normally double albums = filler, but it's consistently excellent from start to finish. What a way to round it off with this epic track
I love this album but I think the first part is almost perfect, second part has some of the best songs of the album but it's more inconsistent as a whole
The way the start of each verse brings a little relief is so genius... the way the song builds momentum and then totally blisses out... "I reach into the darkness / the universe collects us" the perfect closing statement for the album
Wow...this is perhaps their greatest song and I'm not saying that lightly because they have so many good ones just on this album too. Truly haunting, dreamy, and transcendent, then the last half is so somber and beautiful. Extremely poetic lyrics, perhaps the most ever in any of their songs.
I was looking forward to this one as soon as they revealed the track list, something about the title of the track really intrigued me. This is hauntingly good, it’s bittersweet as it is hopeful. Thank you for this phenomenal album.
I was very taken with Superstar, Over and Over and this track. The ending is wonderful and does give me classic prog rock feels as it brings to mind what the band Yes did towards the end of “And You and I.” Beach House does something completely their own but gives a nod to music history that makes it relevant to the present day. Appreciating this new release immensely and will give the whole record many more listens!
@@user-bo1ue1ur3t any other songs with microtonality like this you can recommend? The only other song that's ever made me feel this way was Brains by Lower Dens. I need more!
@@caitlinthompson7238 Could not agree more with your comment and thank you for mentioning Brains, I had a great experience listening to that song, scratched my brain in a way I wasn't expecting
This whole album is magic, but it is also intentional magick. I can't be convinced otherwise. There's so many principles in the lyrics and symbolisms in the videos. Either way, I'm under your spell and I'm okay with that✨
I've found a lot of my favorite artists do that sort of thing, and it seems to be spilling over into my own music as well, without me having to try. Deeply interesting and inspiring stuff.
Putting this song at the end of a 4-LP release is not only clever, but sums up the atmosphere of all the 4 albums previously released. This song is on repeat all day for 3 days now.
Cleopatra's portrait In the bathroom line All the parties ended With a lust for life A dark mouth surrounds us Into the stardust I stand before the ending Carousel ascending The end is the beginning Beginning to an ending Like the cells dividing Zeroes multiplying You tell me it existed As you lie beside me From the early wars To modern love stories I reach into the darkness The universe collects us (I know the lyrics are in the video, but sometimes it's nice to have them as text)
This last chapter really is such a worthy ending to an already amazing album! Especially this song gave me one of the best “first listens” I have had with a song ever!! And that outro.. 🙌🏼
I felt the same with the first song of this chapter as well. Watching that video for the first time was... Really interesting. My mind felt like melting.
I was hoping they’d play this too, but I realized Alex can’t play 12-string guitar and slide guitar at the same time which is probably why it hasn’t been on any setlist
The best, most talented bands typically aren't. It's just better that way. I can't explain it, though I'm sure there are people out there who understand my sentiment. In a couple decades time when they retire, they'll be widely recognized as one of the greatest bands of all time. That's how it works when your music is truly something special.
La última parte del álbum sentí que no fue tan memorable como las primeras 3, pero MODERN LOVE STORIES indudablemente me voló el cerebro. Tal vez la razón por la que recordaré la cuarta parte de este hermoso álbum.
What an absolutely gorgeous, epically cinematic stunner of a closing track! It has instantly burrowed itself into my very constitution. In my opinion, "Modern Love Stories" makes it six unquestionably SUBLIME songs from Once Twice Melody. The other five are "Pink Funeral", "Superstar", "ESP", "Masquerade", and the awesome title track itself. REALLY looking forward to finally getting my copy of this Lush Opus of an album! :-)
7 felt to me like they were using tried-and-true formulas from their older projects while experimenting with sound design and a bit with songwriting to find a new direction. Once Twice Melody seems like they struck gold after learning from creating 7 and have decided to shower the whole world with it, manifesting as this beautiful double album.
I had amazing moments waiting for the album, each chapter was amazing and all the final songs had an end of album character, this song just surpassed the others for its atmosphere. It was a magical experience and probably no other band could provide it with the same quality. Thanks to the Beach Bums for being able to create a room for these events like a show, every moment was incredible.
I love the last part of this track it feels like resolution of all the problems there were, which is really interesting because another go around feels like reflection and acceptance of the past! I love you beach house❤❤❤
I don’t know why, but listening to this amazing song makes me feel like I was into a flying car running over a futuristic city landscape... and then the sky clears, the horizon opens wide and the landscape below turns into green It'd be simething akin to Blade Runner's fake finale with that Vangelis theme jn the background, but not exactly the same
This track is unreal. What an insane ending to this wild ride of an album.
what a fuk
Love how the beginning is uneasy, almost terrifying. It’s like shoegaze with strings instead of guitars, and I love it
Reminds me of early 80s horror tracks with heavy use of strings. Yes the uneasy of the changing melody and all are so amazingly superb
Pink Funeral - ESP - New Romance - Masquerade - Modern Love Stories, these are the most haunting tracks on the album. Stunning!
esp and new romance are haunting?
@@emomu I can see the bridge of New Romance. ESP feels more hazy and kushy to me.
Agree, Over and Over and Through me are incredible also
I totally agree
New romance when it switches to the second verse is incredible
Undoubtedly
I wish I could hear this for the first time again, every time
Love
Silence
Deep feels
This is one of the most interesting chord progressions I have ever heard in pop music. Mind officially blown. Leave it to Beach House. Geniuses.
Such a good 4 months of waiting for Beach House music , I will never forget this experience
Absolutely !!!
same ❤
4 month is nothing compared to the 10+ years of waiting for a new Boards of Canada release. >.>
no the fact that they went an extra mile to create an entire soulful experience series for us with this concept and the animations. i can nvr ask for more thank u
Makes me wonder what the other 7 or so songs they started this project with were like.
@@mikeexits Some context? I have never heard about before.
One of the most beautiful outros to bless my ears.
this has become my fave track on the album now, I can't stop repeating it, the way it just mellows out and transforms

I couldn’t agree more with this comment
"Heart and Lungs" of their first album!!!
don't forget about "somewhere tonight" from thank your lucky stars
Probably I would have chosen "Over and Over" as the last track.
@@mauricioggl8754 omg i was thinking the same thing!! this song doesn’t really work as an ending
Unsettling, then turns into spacey Pink Floyd at the end. Nice

the guitars at the end of this song are fucking magical I wish it carried on for another 10 minutes
I agree. The song almost ends far too soon….
Outro needs its recognition.
The way the start of each verse brings a little relief is so genius... the way the song builds momentum and then totally blisses out...

03:52 literally put tears in my eyes it's so beautiful
Same here the first time I heard it.
I thought it was just me 🥲
God I just wish that ending lasted longer! It leaves me wanting more, I wish it went for like 16 more bars and climaxed in some way
Sounds like the best impersonation of Air ever (and i mean that as a compliment)
The combination of a bad and good dream that’s what this makes me think of
The Alex outro at the end is what really makes this song great.

"OH."

Insanely good closer
